Look at this sparkly color challenge at Create With Connie & Mary #386! The first thing I thought of when I saw these colors was to do a New Year's card - so perfect! But then my eye got caught on my Sheltering Tree set. And again. And the little voice in my head kept saying, "Gold swooshes! Gold leaves!" And I'm like no, no, I want to do New Year's, and the voice said "Swooooooshes, gold swoooshes!" And I was all like, all right, already! Gold swooshes and gold leaves! Fine! Have it your way! Lol, the little schizo stamper in my head just WON'T shut up some days... And of course, I love how it came out. Score one for the little voice, again! Sheltering Tree Stamp Set; Champagne Glimmer Paper; Basic Black & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Encore Gold Inks; Gold Embossing Powder; Itty Bitty Accent Heart Punch. Yay! It's time for In{k}spire Me #229's Christmas Special - there's always so much to inspire us on this one! I think I'll combine it with Just Add Ink #293's gift card challenge! OK, I know we're not quite out of the woods yet, lol, and I ALWAYS need some last minute gift card holders. I tried to focus on making the outside of the card look like it had a present INSIDE - there's a touch of a tree branch, a close up of a gift, a tag, and a reminder for NO PEEKING!! On the inside, I glued a simple pocket from the same DSP as on front, and on the envelope. Yeah, yeah, I'm SO matchy-matchy! Oh, What Fun & Peaceful Wishes (retired) Stamp Sets; Merry Moments DSP; Real Red, Old Olive & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, Old Olive & Read Red Inks; Note Tag & 1/8" Circle Punches; Brights Glimmer Brad in Old Olive (retired); Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine; Cotton Ribbon in Real Red. Aw, the last sketch of the year at Freshly Made Sketch #217 sure is a cutie! I tried really hard to psych myself up for another Christmas card, but, you know, I have that little stack of new toys still calling out to me. Yes, I actually caved almost immediately, lol. I so adore this new set, Beautiful Ride! My first car was a '71 Super Beetle I got for $200, and my first task was to rebuild the heads with my Dad where one of the piston heads had snapped off and chewed a hole in its cylinder. Daddy-Daughter Day! It wasn't an awesome plum color like this one (more like an oxidized Garden Green that I spent a year's worth of rubbing compound on, yikes) but I still remember it fondly. Those were the days! Beautiful Ride Stamp Set (2016 Spring Mini); Perfect Plum, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White & Watercolor CS; Basic Black Archival, Perfect Plum, Chocolate Chip & Smoky Slate Inks; Happy Heart Embossing Folder; Neutrals Candy Dots in Chocolate Chip. I'm so glad we have a nice thank you theme at Stamps Ink Paper #27 this week - I'm on Christmas card overload! I think the colors from Nacho Average Challenge #172 will be good to go with, too! So excited to dig through my little stack of preview items for this card - it didn't take me long to land on this lovely Sale-A-Bration set called What I Love. It have a gorgeous little 3-step flower, some leaves and other details and a few elegantly scripted sentiments, "Thank You" among them! I couldn't wait to try this blossom in these blues! I actually did two versions of this card: my first one had the flowers floating over a Marina Mist layer, but I decided to try it again with more what and some texture - much better! What I Love Stamp Set; Whisper White & Marina Mist CS; Basic Black Archival, Island Indigo & Marina Mist Inks; Softly Falling Embossing Folder; Curvy Corner Trio & Banner Punches; Island Indigo & Marina Mist 1/4" Cotton Ribbon. This week's Merry Monday #184 has a yummy theme - to make it about baking! This theme really stumped me at first. My initial thought was to run to the Room of Retirement for some awesome cupcake action - that could be so fun to color in a Christmas theme! But, I really wanted to try for some current stamps. Then I thought, how about a big CAKE! And look, there's a stripey layer you could do in red like candy canes! That was pretty much it. Discovering that the "Ho Ho Ho" just fit on top was just the icing on the cake, yuk, yuk... Build A Birthday & Oh, What Fun Stamp Sets; Merry Moments DSP; Whisper White & Cherry Cobbler CS; Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive & Versamark Inks; Silver Embossing Powder; Brights Sequins. We're moving right along to week three of MPC1215 - Season of Giving! I can't believe how fast the time is running! This week, I decided to try something inspired by a really cute pic I saw by Rachel Tessman of Stamp Your Art Out. I'm still on a green kick, and somehow I'm finding I have a TON of the holly stems left in my kits still. How to use up a bunch of extras in one go? Make a tree! I snipped off an entire sheet of holly leaves, added a bit of curl with my bone folder, and tacked them down in rows in a tree shape. I added some pearls and an Iced Rhinestone for the topper, and then, bwahaha, I found a little stash of Fantast/x Champagne Mist Ink (remember that stuff, anyone?) that I brushed all over. (I also used it to stencil some holly on the envelope.) It's so funny, I did side-by-side samples with my new Wink of Stella pens, and they are almost identical! I opted for the ink on this card so I could both use it up, and get more coverage with a dauber, but I can't wait to try my Wink of Stella next! Don't forget to show off your work over at the blog - we can't wait to see! Mistletoe & Holly Paper Pumpkin; plus, Old Olive Ink; Gold Metallic Thread; Iced Rhinestones; Fantast/x Champagne Mist Ink (retired.) More Seasons Class December 17 & 19! OK, this is an adorable sketch from Retro Sketch #194 - like a cascade of bubbles! Think I'll try a holiday version with Can You Case It #99's fave holiday colors challenge! I decided that these fun bubbles gave me one last chance to show off my all-time favorite DSP, for ANY season, last year's All Is Calm Specialty DSP. I'm not sure my rendition really does justice to the beautiful papers, but I managed snips of all my fave sheets, at least, lol. I added a quick sentiment from this year's go-to "sayings" set for me, Oh, What Fun, and I'm good to go! Oh, What Fun Stamp Set; All Is Calm DSP; Smoky Slate, Soft Sky & Whisper White CS; Lost Lagoon Ink; Circles Collection Framelits; Banner Triple Punch; Metallics Sequins. You have GOT to check out the design team samples - gorgeous! I'm SO inspired! So, as previously mentioned, I have some new toys around here, so I of course wanted to bring some of them out for this card! There's a gorgeous new suite of products called Botanical Blooms, that has stamp set, DSP and framelits all in one bundle - woo hoo! Let's take this trio out to play! I especially couldn't wait to try out the edgelit included in the framelit set, that gave me this lovely leafy border. I have so many ideas I want to try with this beauty! So ingenious! See what you have to look forward to? I'm starting with Create With Connie & Mary #385's totally cute sketch, and adding on the colors from Just Add Ink #292's fabulous inspiration pic. Including some snowflakes for In{k}spire Me #228's Christmas Special should be no prob! I naturally headed for the lovely Flurry of Wishes stamp set, but I couldn't help pulling in a piece of last year's All is Calm DSP - I'm still hoarding a couple packs of it! I wanted to bring in some bright Bermuda Bay accents, but other than that, I let the soft snowflakes shine for themselves! They get a little help from an awesome new toy from our upcoming Spring Mini called Wink of Stella - a brush gel-type pen that adds a smooth and gorgeous shimmer. I used my clear one for this card, but I have a gold one to try out too! Can't wait! Flurry of Wishes Stamp Set; All Is Calm DSP (retired); Pool Party & Bermuda Bay CS; Bermuda Bay & Versamark Inks; Silver Embossing Powder; Wink of Stella in Clear; Curvy Corner Trio & Snow Flurry Punches; Softly Falling Embossing Folder; Iced Rhinestones. I'm excited to pair it with my favorite Christmas colors - thanks SU-per Challenge #115! I can't resist coloring in my Rudolph in these colors for my focal image - he's so photogenic! I'm still having fun using my Oh, What Fun tag sentiments all over the place, too. They go with everything! I was shocked to realize that I haven't used my Boughs & Berries embossing folder a SINGLE time yet - no way! This gave me an excuse to add another layer, too, as the odd size of the folder makes embossing the card base itself a bit problematic. Good thing I'm all about the layers! Santa's Gifts & Oh, What Fun Stamp Sets; Season of Cheer DSP; Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive Inks; Boughs & Berries Embossing Folder; Banner & Dotted Scallop Border (retired) Punches; Regals Button in Cherry Cobbler; Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine.
