 We have another fun combo to play with at Fusion's "primary Bookcase" challenge! I know I'm usually a die-hard sketch junkie, but today, it was the bright colors that caught my eye! The stack of crates made me think of a cool stitched square grid, so that's what I did. This card came super close to be a "no-stamping" number, but then I thought of the fun reverse stars in my still beloved Bubble Over set. I threw in some thank yous to go with - I think this could be a fun teacher thank you! I meant to make my stars and sentiments look more random, but it didn't end up that way, lol - maybe I should have done them all in one column?  So excited to see my first "patriotic" challenge of the year over at SU Only #202! I really can't stop thinking about our fun Maui vacation, lol, so my first thought was to wonder what it would be like for July 4! I don't know what my deal is - I've always been more of a mountain girl than a beach babe, lol. But I could just imagine laying back and taking it all in with a fun drink in hand along the water. My scene might be a little bit more Nagshead than Maui, now that I think about it, because that's where we spent our summer trips when I was a kid, and we had beach chairs just like this there! Either way, a great way to celebrate on both coasts, lol. Good times. Now, I admit, I broke my usual rule (more like a guideline, really) and bought a set that was all images, instead of the mix of images and sentiments that I prefer. But, this cutie can be bundled with a PUNCH, and punches are awesome! Much as I love my Big Shot, sometimes a girl doesn't want to get out of the stampin' seat, know what I mean? Perfect punches are my solution to that, lol. I managed to get 4 flower combos on there in some of our bright new colors, and, of course, over my fave new green. Not a bad afternoon's work! You know, tic-tac-toe challenges are really starting to grow on me, and so I'm now psyched to try it retro style at this week's Retro Rubber #89! It took me a little bit to pick my row, and I finally landed on watercoloring-patterned paper-congrats - I just did an easel and a baby card so I pretty much ran down the vertical middle, lol. Next I went shopping on the retired shelves for a good congrats and came across this 2016 SAB set Sky Is the Limit - I haven't been able to let it go yet! I thought I might have some cloudy DSP to help out, too, and I did! A quick aqua-painter watercolor wash background and I assembled my pieces - good times! Gotta try it! Whenever I think "fresh" and "summer," my mind just jumps straight to watermelon - it was a huge treat when I was a kid to run around the yard with and get all sticky. The best part came much later, when you got find all the places your seeds came up from spitting them all over the place, and maybe at each other, lol. There was one summer when I apparently favored my grandmother's rose beds that I heard about for quite a while after... I must be an adult now, because I really like it best with a fork, perhaps soaked in adult beverage, lol. Still makes for a fresh summer! I decided to go with the new Sitting Pretty set - I could totally see that gorgeous wrought iron bench heat-embossed in black! This is another super well-coordinated set - lovely framelits with a texture piece, too, and lots of two-step stamping opportunities in the images in the set - even an extra bench in the framelits! I'm just dipping my tow in the wrought-iron today, lol... Quick Tip: have a little miss on your two-step stamping? Use your blender pen to fudge the lines a little, as I did to achieve a kind of two-tone effect on my spider plant leaves! They need NEVER know, lol...
