When I saw this week's Clean & Simple #247, I knew it was a perfect layout for a scripture card, and I haven't done one in so long! Today's quote from Micah also struck a chord for me, as today at church we heard our youth speak about the mission trip in LA they had just returned from, serving the homeless at several missions there. So inspiring, and so humbling! Thanks for the reminders, ladies! Tape It & ODB Scripture Collection 2 stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White & Pretty In Pink (retired) CS; Neutrals Candy Dots.

I realized this morning that I still had time to get one last card in to My Pumpkin Challenge's Tags and Banners challenge! Yay, because I woke up thinking about this card! I love the look of a tiny little banner draped across a card front - I should do more of these! It's also a GREAT way to use up little scraps that I always seem to accumulate, lol. Fun, fun, fun, and I can't wait for you to see the next challenge, which should start Monday! Make sure to go check it out! May 2013 Paper Pumpkin - "Good Life"; plus, Crumb Cake CS; Alphabet Press embossing folder; Corner Rounder punch; Silver mini brads; Early Espresso Baker's Twine; Neutrals Candy Dots. Here's a sunny card for our crazy hot Arizona summer! You know it's going to be an indoor day when you go out to water the plants at 7 am and it's already 85 degrees, and climbing rapidly, lol... So when I saw the Freshly Made Sketch #92, with the pretty curves, I knew I wanted to make it bright and colorful to match. That curve was a perfect chance to try out the new Stretch Ruffle Ribbon, too - perfection! Flower Shop & Best of Greetings stamp sets; Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush & Pumpkin Pie CS; Quatrefancy Specialty DSP; Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie & Strawberry Slush inks; Pansy, 1 1/2" & 1 5/8" Circle punches; Jumbo Jewels Rhinestones; Brights Candy Dots; Pistachio Pudding Stretch Ruffle Ribbon; Occasions piercing template. Ahhhh, more Coastal Cabana toys, I'm really feelin' that ocean breeze this week! In my mind at least - 115 today, sigh. Even the pool is no fun when it's about as warm as bathwater! Anyway, Paper Craft Crew #48 really gave me a chance to try my hand at mixing and matching LOTS of different elements - hopefully in an artful and pleasing way, lol. Fun and cool summer colors really helped me beat the heat today. Make sure to go try your hand at the sketch at Paper Craft Crew! Chalk Talk stamp set; Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede & Crushed Curry CS; Afternoon Picnic DSP; Ovals framelits; Wide Oval & Scallop Edge Border punches; Occasions piercing pack; Coastal Cabana stretch ruffle trim; Regals Candy Dots. OK. I have to confess, I think I have a favorite new In Color, and it's not the one I thought it would be. I thought for sure that I'd be getting the master bedroom re-done in Pistachio Pudding (I have a serious pistachio addiction, lol) BUT looks like I'll be bringing in the ocean with Coastal Cabana! I am finding this color so soothing, but so fresh! It's SO WEIRD! Anyway, it was truly great fun to play with it today for Retro Sketch #69 - and with the cute accessories to go with! I don't think of myself as liking very fussy patterns or gewgaws, but this DSP just cried out for the matching Boutique Details... Got my girly-girl out today, maybe I can squeeze in a pedicure later, too! Coastal Cabana would look AWESOME on my toes! Happy Day stamp set; Whisper White, Coast Cabana & Crushed Curry CS; Crushed Curry ink; In Color Boutique Details; Lacy Brocade embossing folder; Coastal Cabana Stretch Ruffle Trim. This week's Clean & Simple #246 gives me a great chance to spend some more time working on "single-layer" cards - something that's kind of on my mind as I start putting together my swaps for convention, lol. I want to make beautiful, amazing and over-the-top cards to trade while I'm there, BUT, I want to make 200 of them! Yikes! I plan on doing 50 each of four different cards, a different one for each day I'll be circulating the Stampin' Up! universe that I expect convention to be. My strategy is to give each card one simple "WOW" element, to help keep my cost down on cards that I'll be basically giving away for free (though I do get one back in trade, eee!) So, how to pare down, but still be WOW?? How about clean and beautiful elements, strategically highlighted on a single layer card? That was today's experiment - getting warmed up! Morning Meadow stamp set; Naturals White CS; Pistachio Pudding, Baked Brown Sugar & Strawberry Slush markers; Pansy punch. OK, I'm ready for new catalog order to arrive, with some new DSP to play with! I've been being very well-behaved, using up my retired stuff as much as I can, and I've been holding myself to the two preview packs I've had for a while now... I feel like my cards have all had this blue-green look lately, lol... Bring on the new! That said, the marriage of the new photopolymer set Wanderlust and the Epic Day This & That DSP is one made in heaven! Imaginary maps and adventures go hand-in-hand! I love sneaking in a couple of our new In Colors, too! Thank you Freshly Made Sketches #91! Wanderlust stamp set; Pool Party, Pistachio Pudding & Whisper White CS; Epic Day This & That DSP; Stretch Ruffle Trim in Coastal Cabana & Pistachio Pudding; Needlepoint Border embossing folder; subtles Candy Dots. Now, here's a fun sketch from Sunday Stamps #52! Seeing the shapes gave me an idea to use my latest photopolymer stamp set - Wanderlust. I have been staring at that "Hello" name-tag image for two weeks now! This simple and elegant design was perfect to work with - love it! Wanderlust & Best of Love stamp sets; Pool Party, Basic Gray & Very Vanilla CS; This and That Epic Day DSP; Epic Day washi tape; Calypso Coral ink; Neutrals Candy Dots. Ahhh, the DSP stash is starting to go down - whew! Thank you to everyone who pitched in, and now has a LOVELY wreath to show for it, too, giggle! Here's a quick picture of Brenda Quintana's glorious Hershey Stars I made for our gifts - helps make up for the funky dessert, oops! Might need to run get cookies for today's day class, lol! Here is tonight's class sheet for your fil - enjoy! And make sure you mark your calendar for Thursday July 25, for my post-convention Open House - goody bags, treats, pictures and swaps - it'll be a fun night! No class (so FREE!), just lots to see and be inspired by! (And PRESENTS!) This is your chance to weigh in on future class projects, too - I can't wait to share all the creativity I know I'll see in Salt Lake City! For this week's Paper Craft Crew #47, I went VERY simple, with few layers. I found this old Paper Doily I had cut out for something else in my Early Espresso scrap folder, and decided I wanted to use it today - how to dress it up? How to give some subtle color? FINALLY, a chance to use my new Candy Dots, too! They add just the right touch of color at the bottom, I think... So easy to use, I can tell I'm going to be burning through these! Express Yourself stamp set; Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Soft Suede & Calypso Coral CS; This & That Epic Day DSP; Large Paper Doily Sizzlet; Early Espresso 1/4" grosgrain; Subtles Candy Dots. |
