 We're having a critter fest at this week's SU Only #200 - eek! Let the cuteness commence! So, as I checked out my shelves for critters (and kicked myself over not having Hedge Hugs yet, sigh) I found my Foxy Friends set all the way at the end - why have I not been using this set still?? I even still have the DSP!! So I had a fun day putting together this little guy! I decided to make a couple trees that are also in the set, and perch him on his cute tree stump - so glad we have Mossy Meadow back for good trees! I also finally made a punch template to keep with the set, so I could stamp and punch all the pieces at once. No clue what took me so long there - I've made a couple punch templates his week...  So excited that Retro Rubber #87 has such a fun sketch this week - time to play! A browse of the Shelves of Retirement pulled me to 2010's Plant Hope, which I have hung on to all this time for this quote by Lucy Larcom, one of the founders of the still-extant Rushlight Magazine. And the little bonsai'd tree image, which I didn't end up using today, lol. Turns out this set goes awesome with our new Nature's Poem DSP, a perfect set for Lucy! I have a feeling I'll be using this paper a LOT this year - I keep finding new things to pair it with! I got to pull out a few other coordinating accessories, too - a new twine collection, and of course the Faceted Dots. I can't have too many Blackberry Bliss toys, lol. I threw in the deeply colored and pearlized Share What You Love DSP, too - the background is one of my faves, and turned the sketch landscape so I'd have room for my wider punch shape. How could I not go for it with a title like that?? I ruthlessly scavenged some parts from the kit to make this new set of layers on my own card base, and used some of the leavings to create a stencil for my envelope front (even manly cards can't have naked envelopes, lol.) I added some old Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon, and some old dark gray sequins to go with the touches of silver from the kit. Pretty, but manly, too, lol. The Pumpkin lives! I almost featured a dancing Santa twirling his sugar canes, but in the end, I couldn't resist going back to the 2016 Candy Cane Christmas. This was such a tasty suite! I think I've finally used all my trinkets from it, but I still have the gorgeous sugarplum filled DSP, and a bit of our peppermint twine. I used the sentiment from the stamp set, and decided to fussy cut my Christmas cookies from a few DSP scraps - I don't fussy cut DSP too often, but I have to admit, I was drooling a little when I got the end of these, lol. Sometimes I could fall off the no-sugar wagon like THAT! What Will You Stamp #169 is all about one of my fave sets from the Occasions catty - Bubble Over! Today I decided to just all-out indulge myself in unrestrained bubble-iciousness and pull out all my bubble toys - that is, all the fun SAB items we got this past year that coordinate so well, lol. I pulled out my Bubbles & Fizz DSP to get the colors going, and started by stamping out both sizes of bottles in the most refreshing colors, complete with labels! I laid these over my fave bubbly sheet, stamped my sentiment on some sunny yellow, and added a quick bow in the gorgeous Bermuda Bay shimmer ribbon, another SAB goody. Bring on summer - we're ready! Our fearless Fab leader has a scary pink color challenge for us over at Fab Friday #138 - yikes! Lucky for me, As You See It #176 has a wonderful mosaic sketch for us that I think will be perfect for it! My original plan here was to do some kind of DSP mosaic, I'll be honest. But then my eye came across this scrap of the upcoming Graceful Glass Designer Vellum that my dear friend Nancy gave me - SHE got it as a sample when she was at our last On Stage event - who doesn't love convention?? Anyway, it's been sitting out on my desk for a few weeks now, while I tried to think of something cool to do with it. That bolt of lightning struck today! I think this vellum is probably best colored with our Blends markers, but I did a super careful job with our regular markers, since that's where I had all the challenge colors, lol. I colored on the BACK, and layered it over some Whisper White for pop and smudge protection. So fun - can't wait to get a full pack! What a great idea, we have so many options for this these days! I actually started with my cardstocks today - I knew I wanted to go with woody browns, so I tried a combo of Early Espresso, Crumb Cake & Sahara Sand. I ended up with the Crumb Cake base, so I didn't have to use an inside panel. From there, I wanted to use a background stamp, and I went with Tree Rings, which I think looks even cooler when you pick some random logs with the Blender Pen! From there I pulled in Ribbon of Courage, and added a few wood elements embellies, and over a Wood Textures DSP, of course, lol. I definitely think I was all things wood today! I think this sketch finally gives me enough scope to roll out another one of my preview sets - so excited about this suite! I love these gorgeous trees and leaves especially because the stamp set also includes sentiments (yay!) and has comprehensive framelits to boot!
