For my final inspiration, I'll freely admit - I totally stole an idea from NEXT month's My Paper Pumpkin, Framed Love. Did you get yours yet? OMG, it's completely adorable! Can't wait to start that challenge! So, since I'm all distracted by that new red box sitting on my desk, I decided to cheat a little bit, and do a take-off from that. Sh, don't tell on me! This was actually easier to put together than usual, thanks to the advent of photopolymer in the Pumpkin - no Stamp-A-Ma-Jig required this time - can't believe I was able to "free-hand" this one!  Well, good thing In{k}spire Me #144 was here to remind me it's never too early to work on my Mother's Day cards (sorry, Dads!) Then I saw the yummy color challenge from Fab Friday #40, and I knew I wanted to pull that in, too... One of the retiring sets I know I'll miss is Delicate Doilies. This is one that I "forget" I have sometimes, and then I get reminded how versatile it is and kick myself for a while, lol. Serves me right not using it more! In this case, I had a blast making my own "DSP" for the background panel - LOVE this color combo! Thank goodness we get to keep Teeny Tiny Wishes!  OK, shhh! I get to go to a super secret and awesome early Stampin' Up! 2015 Catalog Release party today, with other SU! Demos here in the Phoenix area! Eeeee! So, of course that means we're having a swap! Thank goodness Freshly Made Sketches #133 was here to help me get started! I also have a couple kits still sitting around, and one of them, the Simply Created Happenings Card Kit, even has supplies for 15 cards! So perfect, our swap is for 12! Maybe I'll even find swapping homes for the remaining 3 - I went ahead and made all 15. A nice touch is that since the kit came with the envelopes, too, I can include them in my swaps! Yay all 'round! And it makes for a completely perfect blog post title, too, hee hee... Can't wait for you all to see the AWESOME new catty - BEST ONE EVER! I envisioned a quick and simple card, with some bold splashes of color from the color challenge side of things. It wasn't til I was ready to post that I noticed that the DT also did something with feathers - argh! Oh well - great minds think alike!  Oo, love the tilty layers at this week's Retro Sketches #111! I think it might have triggered a little touch of over-embellish-itis in me, though, lol! I am still fascinated by all the little fun elements that come in our photopolymer sets these days - almost too much to play with! I trotted out all the little toys for this one - think I'll save this card for my bug, to cheer her up on a grumpy day! First, a quick bit of business: looks like something funky is happening over at Feedburner, the service that handles the emails of my blog posts for you. I've decided to switch to Mail Chimp, and have gone ahead and migrated everyone over to my new service. This means that, hopefully, this switch should be fairly transparent to those of you who already subscribe, and you shouldn't have to do anything! If all went well, you got this email through the new service, and maybe the layout looks a little cleaner, too. Here's hoping!  OK, I've been thinking about this week's Merry Monday #105 for a couple days now, trying to come up with a plan. This is a tough one - but here goes! I decided the word I wanted to feature was "snow" - and I wanted to die-cut it in something shiny! I started out cutting it out using the retiring Bigz Typeset Alphabet (grrrRRRrrr!), but that turned out to be just a tad to wide for the card layout I had in mind. So I switched to already-retired Timeless Type Junior set I still have - good size! I originally planned to hand-script the "let it" part, but then decided to try out the lower case letters in those dies - yay! I like how the "O" snowflake is hanging from the "t" above it.  But then I still had those Typeset letters. Just staring at me. All shiny and everything. So I had to make ANOTHER card, this time one sized to fit a larger layout. I like how this one came out, too - it kinda reminds me of the Noel Paper Pumpkin kit layout. This time, I decided to just go for the hand-scripting - not too shabby for my first time, I think!  Gotta say, I LOVE it when I see the words "any shape" on a sketch, like at this week's Freshly Made #132 - it's like a siren call to me, lol! It's all about the flexibility - and of course, finding the wackiest and most unexpected thing I can to use... I ended up not going as wacky as I could have (the chickens got some air earlier this week - I do try to save them for inspiration emergencies), BUT, I have so wanted to use this little globe, and didn't get a chance over Valentine's. Perfect!
