Oh gosh, I'm starting to have second thoughts about the challenge I issued for us at this round's As You See It #322 - "The color I use the least is..." What was I thinking?? First up, I had to figure out which color it is, and I even had a little method for it! The winner is Basic Gray, because I can tell I'm still working on my original pack of this CS, most of which is still in the hanging folder, along with the full complement of last year's DSP sheets for it, AND even the sheet I punched the folder tab out of, still otherwise intact. I don't even dislike this color! This is a little embarrassing, lol. Lucky for me, I just received the adorable Hearts & Hugs set - I think walruses are PERFECT for highlighting Basic Gray! I did up a pretty plaid background with one of my DSP sheets, and added some Basic Gray Shimmer Ribbon (I have 4 rolls, unopened. ??? I vaguely remember this came packaged with another color, maybe an old SAB reward?) I colored up my snuggling walruses in Smoky Slate, and added a few of these fancy hearts that are also in the die set - just too cute! I can't wait to see YOUR least used color - meet you at the challenge! Hearts & Hugs Stamp Set; Basic Gray DSP; Basic White & Basic Gray CS; Basic Gray Ink; Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake & Pretty in Pink Blends Markers; Hearts & Hugs Dies; Basic Gray Shimmer Ribbon; #AYSI322. It's tic-tac-toe time again at this round's Retro Rubber #229! This time, I started by picking my categories, and I went with the left column - die cut - distressing - ribbon. I'm not sure why, but my brain was just not feeling any of the others, lol. Then I went stamp shopping! What's something cute I haven't used in a while? I finally made it down to my "food" shelf, lol, and came across 2018's Sweet Cupcake - we have a winner! I remember playing with homemade "embossing paste" for the first time with this set - I even still had the little recipe tacked inside the case, lol. We must have done that for messy class! Anyway, I stuck to inks this time, and went with my beloved purples, too - so cute! Thank goodness the insert for these stamps was numbered, because I totally couldn't remember what order to stamp all the layers in! I can't WAIT to see your projects for this fun round - meet you at the challenge! Sweet Cupcake Stamp Set (retired 2018); Fresh Freesia DSP; Basic White, Fresh Freesia & Blackberry Bliss CS; Fresh Freesia, Crumb Cake & Blackberry Bliss Inks; Cupcake Cutouts (retired) & Tailor Made Tags Dies; Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon; Purple Fine Shimmer Gems; #RRCB229. I so approve of the choice to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this round at Festive Friday #157! This was a fun one to build - I really dug deep through various retired items to tick more boxes on the inspo list today! I started by scanning my DSP scraps for orange and green - found some great bits in Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie! Then I decided to do a BIG avocado - from 2020's Garden Goodness set, the whole reason I bought this set, lol! It pairs perfectly with our super fun Taco Fiesta set - I don't think I can stamp an avocado of any size without a mustache and a sombrero anymore, lol. Oh, and I found some bunting dies in my old Bonanza Dies, too! So, I was able to get orange, green. enamel dots, avocado, mustache & bunting - wheee! Garden Goodness (retired 2020) & Taco Fiesta Stamp Sets; Old Olive & Pumpkin Pie DSP; Basic White & Pumpkin Pie CS; Old Olive, Pecan Pie & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Pumpkin Pie & Old Olive Blends Markers; Bonanza & Stitched So Sweetly Dies (both retired); Old Olive Matte Dots; #FF0157. AAA Birthday #60 would like to see a shaker card this month - love these! I really wanted some color today - I have all these little bags of bright sequins I won in a blog challenge from Pretty Pink Posh still - how to use the green ones? In a guacamole card, of course! I'm super sad about Taco Fiesta making the retiring list this year - this one will definitely have a place of honor on my shelves of retirement! I giggled the whole time I made this card, coloring, shaking and fussy cutting! I think I need some chips tonight now, lol. Taco Fiesta Stamp Set; Flowering Zinnias DSP; Basic White & Lemon Lime Twist CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Smoky Slate, Mossy Meadow & Real Red Blends Markers; Rectangle Stitched & Stitched Shapes (retired) Dies; Green Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh; Effervescent Elements; #AAAB60. I love our dramatic sketch this round at Retro Rubber #228! It felt like a retro critter day today, so I went browsing and heard a little braying, lol. These guys haven't been out in a donkey's age! I floated this party animal over these happy dots from the Lighter Than Air DSP pack, and picked out the darker blue - Azure Afternoon - for my big diagonal band. I even have some Azure Afternoon dots from my Rainbow Pack - woo! I can't wait to see what YOU come up with for our fun sketch - make it Retro (older than one year!) and meet you there! Darling Donkeys Stamp Set (retired 2021); Lighter Than Air DSP; Basic White & Azure Afternoon CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Azure Afternoon Inks; Smoky Slate & SU800 Blends Markers; Stylish Shapes Dies; Rainbow Dots; #RRCB228. Such pretty natural colors we have for you this round at Retro Rubber #227! I couldn't help but think of a cute critter dressed up in blue when I thought of these colors, lol. When I did a quick browse for likely candidate, I kept coming back to 2021's Hot Dog set - he has so many cute accessories to color! I ended up staying pretty clean and simple today, but I think I might officially be over my fear of Blueberry Bushel! What a cutie! I can't wait to see YOUR pretty Retro projects in our colors this round - meet you at the challenge! So super fun - we want to see what you have for "transport" this round at Make My Monday #222! I couldn't resist going back to my Legendary Ride set - love these choppers! I have also carefully hoarded some of the Ready to Ride DSP that was released with it, lol, and I am still just as smitten with the sheet that has the little biker scenes that we can cut apart and use as backgrounds. I liked this one so much I let it do all the heavy lifting! I did color in my little bike with Pumpkin Pie to match the details, but still so fabulous! Can't wait to see YOUR transport projects this round - meet you at the challenge! Legendary Ride Stamp Set; Ready to Ride DSP (retired); Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Basic Gray & Pumpkin Pie CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Pumpkin Pie Blend Marker; Tasteful Labels Dies (retired); Basics 2 EF; Pumpkin Pie Twine; Matte Black Dots; #MMM222. What a fun theme this round at The Male Room #184 - "food and drink!" I have some great food sets, but today I wanted to play again with Simply Sparkling - so fun! I did a pair of soda cans, and gave them each a funny label - the sentiments are great for building cute combos! I floated them both over this Sweet Sorbet Glimmer CS, the ombre effect is so cool, lol, and I tucked in some bubbles while I was at it! I finished with a few Sweet Sorbet Pearls, too, gotta have a little bling even on a guy card! Simply Sparkling Stamp Set; Sweet Sorbet Glimmer, Basic White, Basic Black, Parakeet Party & Sweet Sorbet CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Sweet Sorbet & Parakeet Party Inks; Gray Granit, Bubble Bath & Lemon Lolly Blends Markers; Simply Sparkling & Radiating Stitches Dies; Sweet Sorbet Pearls; #TMR184. This'll be neat - AAA Birthday #59's cue this month is "geometric!" Love it! Ever since I played with that old pack of Confetti Celebration DSP from 2014, there has been this triangles sheet on my mind - so bold! Of course, the only color I still have from this particular sheet is Basic Gray, lol. But it sprang right to mind when I saw this challenge! I decided Pumpkin Pie could be close enough, and did my remaining details in Gray - this is one of my rare no-stamping cards! Such a blast - I layered up the DSP, then cut a Stitched Triangle from Pumpkin Pie. I finally added it at an angle across the background pattern, then I set up the sentiment with my Wanted To Say dies - LOVE these things! The little cloud layer behind it lets me pop it up with the big triangle! I finished with a few Gray Faceted Gems, the perfect touch. I'm so happy with how this came out! Wanted to Say & Stitched Triangles Dies; Confetti Celebration DSP (retired); Basic White, Basic Gray & Pumpkin Pie CS; Faceted Gems; #AAAB59. Woo, hope you're ready! We have some Speedy Spring Flowers for our challenge this round at As You See It #319! One of my favorite ways to keep the time down on our speed challenges is to let the DSP do the heavy lifting, so to speak, lol. So when I checked out my stamp shelves for a good flower set to use, I tried to focus on ones that I knew I had DSP for. When Pansy Patch caught my eye, I knew right away I wanted to do this one - I suspect this beauty will finally retire this year, sigh. Did I still have any DSP for it though? I sure did, and it had a bunch of already cut pansies and leaves in it, too - jackpot! I assembled my items, and started the clock! I didn't really have a layout plan, and I didn't pre-select my pansies from the pile in there - oops, plus a run to the punch tower for my sentiment - so I still ended up taking 6 minutes 44 seconds while I fiddled pieces around - whew! I even had time to do the envelope! I can't wait to see YOUR speedy flowers for us, too - meet you at the challenge! Pansy Patch Stamp Set; Pansy Petals DSP (retired); Basic White & Evening Evergreen (retired) CS; Evening Evergreen Ink (retired); Pansy Dies; Large Oval Punch; Evening Evergreen Opal Rounds (retired); #AYSI319. |
