 Woo hoo! It's Fab Friday #122 time - this week with these gorgeous and rich colors! I'll be rendering them in Paper Players #363's fun layered sketch! These were tough colors for me, not gonna lie here, lol. I decided to go abstract, and play with Lovely Inside & Out - I love the rayed circle shape in that set! I stamped an stamped off to come up with my own "DSP", and then tried to highlight the two colors I like the most: you guessed it, the green and the purple, always, lol! Good times! I can't wait to see you over at the challenge, and see what YOU come up with! OK, I think I am totally intrigued by As You See It #159's "super stash" challenge, not that I think it applies to me at all. Shhh. So naturally, I think I should throw in TGIF #126's Fancy Fold challenge to give me more space to work with, lol. Let's just see how this all goes! So of course knowing that one of my elements was a bird, I turned right away to Best Birds. I felt like I really wanted there to be rich and varied colors to absorb the dark blue I also need, so I pulled out Whole Lot of Lovely DSP, too. Then I tried to pick a couple patterns that I thought would compliment each other for a double-z fold, which I think are super fun! I ended up with this result, and my lovely birdie girl in blue back and tail feathers - I think it works! My stripes are the vines on the darker paper, and I pulled out some ancient brads for some final touches. Whew! I think I made it! I think I can squeeze in some texture for Just Add Ink #378, AND even go for a Fall/Halloween theme for In{k}spire Me #318! OK, when I went and actually LOOKED for Halloween sets, I had a horrible realization: I might not actually have a current one! Could that really be? I got lots of gourds and pumpkins, but I was more looking at Fall themes. But wait, looks what's hiding at the end of my shelf - Sweet Home, which also has haunting elements for a Spooky House! Yes! Let's do this! I started out by layering about ten million colors for that fancy angled edge (well, ok, only 5) that I had to get out my sheet metal shears to trim, lol. Then I built my Spooky House, and added in a ghost, some bats, some bones - so fun to play with all the pieces! I did have to cut the bats and bones before stamping though - too tiny to line up, but easy enough to make work my way with the photopolymer - yay! I think they'll be great for this unusual interlaced layout from Match the Sketch #195! Looking at the little boxes along the bottom edge of the sketch, I couldn't help but think of the super-fun new Hostess set (my other fave!) In The City. The set is absolutely gi-NOR-mous - little line drawings of everything, and then a collections of "fill-ins" - no coloring required! It's a blast to play with especially for color challenges, lol - imagine your neighborhood in all your fave SU! colors - woo hoo! Threw this card together quick for a new next-door neighbor - off to make them cookies now... I;m pairing it with this lovely panels layout from Freshly Made Sketch #306! So, a public service announcement: this is my new fave color combo, lol. Gorgeous! I decided to go floral, and use my fave Hostess set to go with, Tranquil Tulips. I think this is the one of the best Hostess sets we've had in a long time (even though it doesn't have sentiments, sigh. For this beauty I'm making an exception!) I love it so much I don't even mind fussy cutting out all the goodies. This two-step stampin' design is also one of the most 3-D I've seen - beautiful! This week's sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday #340 is PERFECT for this, too! You know, I think I'll actually get in TSOT's secondary "petite patterns" challenge, too - Yay for the Christmas Quilt suite! I pretty much stuck pretty tight to the sketch, and added a few little elements that I hope show up OK - I love playing with all the framelit pieces and mixing and matching with them. I also took some time to play with the layers on the tag, trying to line up the background pattern as symetrically as I could. I then added in a little sparkle, my new fave Lemon Lime Twist ribbon, and I am good to go! So fun! I decided to play around with a lot of parts and pieces today, since I'm flying with no sketch here for a change - I can so do it! I first went to my Painted Autumn DSP, and picked out some colors that spoke to me, from there, I looked for images that went along, from Painted Harvest as well as the little sunflower bucket from At Home With You. I got to do a little bit of everything today! Coloring, punching, and both die- and fussy-cutting - the full stampin' ride here!
