Can I use them in some pleasing way? Well, gang, yes I can! I almost feel like this card is even more cheating than usual - I did almost zippo to get to this, lol. I had to force myself to add a touch of background to the sentiment! Sigh. Like I really needed another reason to hang on to every little scrap of these kits...  This week's Just Add Ink #246-Giving is a bit different. But the timing is perfect, since my Dad's birthday was right after Christmas! This gives me a chance to brush up the "cute little present" skills, lol... Dad's presents all fit in our Extra Large Gift Box, so I decided to gussy that up! Easy enough to add some pretty DSP, the only hard part is deciding on a color scheme, lol. His fave color is orange, so I chose a set that has our Tangelo Twist in it, so I could coordinate the ribbon. A quick tag, that I spent some time coloring in, and we're good to go! Do you all have yours? Have you noticed the never-before-tried "wrap," advertizing the also upcoming Sale-A-Bration? Did you look at the back of this wrap? Looks like DSP to me! Let's slide that baby in there - I'm combining it with the Best Year Ever DSP! I'm also so excited about the Hello You Thinlets, that go so perfectly with the Crazy About You stamp set - I hereby nominate this combo to graduate to the next Annual catalog - who's with me??  I so LOVE how Retro Sketches #146 thinks of layers - they're so good at making me stretch! Think I'll sneak in another new set, too... One of the sweet new sets from the 2015 Occasions catty is Butterfly Basics - it comes with so many seriously pretty elements, and, of course, a new Butterflies Thinlets set that is SO COOL! I envision cards made without the stamp set at all, lol, I admit... So I figured I should use as much as can before I get too enamored of those thinlets! I snuck in a few scraps of my remaining Gold Soiree Specialty DSP, too, this dotty paper is my fave from this pack, I admit. I think I might be officially out now!  Hey, hey, hey! I get to sneak in another Christmas card with this week's Can You Case It #50 - Designers Choice Holiday Edition! Yay! Shh, don't tell anyone, but this gives me a chance to ink up one of TWO remaining Christmas stamp sets I haven't broken out yet, blush. I broke down and got 12 Days of Christmas because I was totally enamored with the cute tags they showed in the Holiday Supplement catalog - tags are so fun to make and such a practical gift! Alas, I just didn't get to them, sigh... Next year, I think. Lucky for me, it pairs perfectly with Partridge & Pears, giving me a chance to color and fussy cut to my heart's content! You know, I had to have them ALL! In fact, there's almost a suite, with the inclusion of the Adventure Bound DSP stack! I decided to try them out on this sketch. The timing is perfect, because my poor Dad has his birthday right after Christmas - so unfair! I always try to make a point of having a very clear separation of celebrations for him, lol... Is everyone singing the YMCA song while they read this post? That was the plan, lol... I also get a chance to show off the gorgeous Best Year Ever DSP pack from Sale-A-Bration - yummy! I really had fun with some sweet details here... In the end, I'm pretty happy with how it came out - my jumble of snowflakes looks a little, well, jumbled, but I love how the glimmer sparkles through! I haven't used Nature's Peace nearly enough on cards, though I've been cranking out Petite Cafe Gift Bags like nobody's business - so classy for my Christmas Toffee gifts! So I was glad to feel inspired to use this set on a card today. I had a lot of fun sneaking in extra sparkle here and there. I've been thinking how in a pinch, these shiny sequins are a good alternate to our Rhinestones, too - I love that they come in two different sizes! PS. What's up with my post title today? Well, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I've only just discovered something - Just Add Ink is based in Australia - cool, right? Well, did you know it's already tomorrow there? Um, I didn't, lol. What a goober! I think here in AZ I've become a lot less sensitive to time zones, because we don't change here at all for the seasons. Oops! Watch out for that international date line, dummy! Lol... I'm so excited to pair up these two challenges today - In{k}spire #178's Show My Christmas and SU-per Challenge #68's colors! Christmas in the Sonoran Desert, here we come... This card was so fun to make! I first started by digging out my two whole cactus sets, and coloring and fussy cutting them. Then I spent some time figuring out how I could cobble together the sentiment I wanted - how could I not use "rootin' tootin'?" Everyone knows that cowboys really say that, right? Arizona ones do - just ask Cowboy Gary! I also took my heart in my hands and actually ALTERED the little Christmas banner in White Christmas - I figured the photopolymer makes it especially suited to putting back together when needed on the block. And then I took a tiny liberty and added some Crushed Curry stars - shhh... So, in our house, Cowboy Gary is pretty famous - he comes every year to the local elementary school, to sing with the kinders. They spend all week making cowboy gear, and stick ponies to show Dusty, Cowboy Gary's counting horse (who wears a special poop-catching bag when he comes to school, sorry , had to share that.) ANYWAY, we always tease Bug about it, because back in her day, she insisted on naming her stick horse "Dirt," after Cowboy Gary's horse. Get it? Dirt instead of Dusty? Cowboy Gary, and his horse Dirt. Hilarious. Dirt has guarded our Christmas tree ever since!
