Rolling Waves

Yay!  Finally get to gettin' in my NBUS #84 this month!
I have been itching (and a little intimidated, lol) to break out my new Rolling Waves bundle - it's just so gorgeous!  I know I have like every ocean set we've ever had, but every single one has offered something a little unique, and this one is no exception!  One of our favorite things to do in Maui is sunset watch - especially since the time difference makes it so we will likely never sunRISE watch, lol.  It's a vacation, after all!  These layered dies perfectly capture that smooth foamy experience of waves lapping down the sand, and the dreamy feel of all the little secret critters and shells buried there.  So I set out to make a little piece of wave-washed beach, and I am SMITTEN with the result!  I couldn't resist pulling in my old Waves of the Ocean DSP for a really deep water base, which I then layered in Cloud Cover and white for the foamy edge.  I sponged up some shells, and scattered some pretty beach glass for the finishing touch - as good as a photo!
Rolling Waves Stamp Set & Dies; Waves of the Ocean DSP (retired); Basic White, Crumb Cake, Basic Beige & Cloud Cover CS; Crumb Cake & Early Espresso Inks; Stylish Shapes Does; Faux Sea Glass Shapes (retired); #NBUS84.

Wow, check out the yummy colors at this round of Cupcake Inspiration #633!
Such an interesting color combo - even though in the SU! world, fig is a purple color, lol.  Accordingly, based on the sample dots, I went with Basic Beige, Pecan Pie and Gorgeous Grape!  As I studied the colors, it made me think of finding shells that have a little cast of purple inside, so I decided to pull out the thoughtfully designed Shell Collecting set, and I paired it once again with Prayers & Promises, since the shell set doesn't have sentiments.  I went for sympathy, since I seem to be getting calls for a few of those lately - what a comforting card this will be when I need it!  I embossed a Seabed EF background, added my shells and sentiment, and finished with a few Antique Pearls.  I'm really happy with the final card!

We would LOVE to see some patterned paper this round at Make My Monday #269!
When I went through my DSP collections, I was a little shocked to see that the Perennial Lavender pack is STILL available!  Wow!  So I decided to use that - I love this Crumb Cake houndstooth sheet in there!  I cut a few Stylish Rounds from a few other sheets for spots of color, then added some lavender sprigs from the Painted Lavender Dies, and this sympathy sentiment from the Something Fancy bundle - a sweet match for sure!
I can't wait to see YOUR patterned paper projects - meet you at the challenge!

What a fun paneled sketch at Inspire Create Challenge #205!
I started with the DSP for this one, and landed on my Florals in Bloom pack - even if I'm not up for the pretty flowers, the back of every sheet is an elegant color study!  I went with this Cloud Cover background, and floated my pieces over a panel of Secret Sea.  I wanted to bring in a bright pop of color, too, so I chose this stem from last year's Color & Contour bundle - hopefully cheery-yet-restrained enough to support this lovely sympathy thought.  A few Cloud Cover spatters in the background, some matching Flat Pearls, and a bit of Gold Twine add some points of light.  What a great sketch!

What a beautiful inspo list Festive Friday #196 has for us for Armistice or Veteran's Day!
I feel like I've used it before, but I couldn't help but turn to our still-gorgeous Peaceful Poppy suite from 2023 for this one - it's just so right!  I started by picking through my Peaceful Poppy DSP scraps, and came up with these three that trimmed down nicely into a paned card front - yes!  Not enough of this left for the envelope, too, but I stamped a simple poppy stem, and used my Water Painter to color it a bit.  This beautiful sympathy sentiment, still one of my faves, was next, from Peaceful Moments, with a bit of Black Metallic Thread behind it.  I finished with a few Black Sparkle Gems.  So I think I covered red, black, watercolor, poppies and sympathy - not too bad!

Sympathy Heart

Ah, a good but sad theme at this round of Shopping Our Stash #557 - "with sympathy."  It's so much easier to have these already on hand when needed!
I decided today I wanted to express my condolences without saying the actual word "sympathy," lol - does that sound weird?  Did I have any good sentiments for that?  It happens that I have several, and I quickly settled on 2020's Modern Heart stamp set to help me along.  I went with a retired Moody Mauve for my color splash, and stamped the line art heart over that, then embossed it with my Distressed Tile EF.  Next I popped up this sweet sentiment beneath, and finished with a few Speckled Dots, also in Mauve.  Simple and heartfelt, that's the ticket.

We have a charming medallion sketch for you this round at Sunday Stamps #368!
This would have been a perfect one for the pines set I used the other day, lol, but, with so many stamp sets to keep inky, I'll have to come up with something else!  I finally landed on my Nature's Prints set - I had thought I would do a Christmas card with this sketch, but it totally works for other occasions, too!  I stamped a couple fronds in Night of Navy to layer behind my medallion, and then realized while I was my cutting machine that I had a few dies to make some extra accents in Navy to go with!  I chose this sentiment for a sympathy note, and even found some scraps of the Sun Prints DSP this bundle was released with.  It all came together beautifully!
I can't wait to see YOUR ideas for our gorgeous sketch - meet you at the challenge!

Very nice - CAS on Friday #312 is all about going "botanical!"
One of my not-inked-enough botanical sets is 2023's Bamboo Beauty - so pretty!  I did some stamping and stamping-off to set up my left-justified bamboo details in Wild Wheat, and went back and added the sparing leaves in the same manner.  I settled on this simple sentiment, and decided to float it over the stalks to keep everything to the side, and finished with a few Wild Wheat Glossy Dots.  Just right!

There's a sweet little cameo sketch at Sketch Saturday #778 this round!
I decided to play with the shapes a little for this one, and I was able to pull in our upcoming Prairie Grass set while I was at it!  This is a sweet stamp set with beautiful grass silhouettes in a range of sizes, and 5 comforting sentiments to go with.  Not only for sympathy, by my read, just for loving comfort in any needed situation.  These images look awesome over our botanical Thoughtful Journey DSP, too, I'm really finding a lot of ways to use that lately!

Such a great sketch this round at Try a Sketch on Tuesday #670!  I can't wait!
After a little thought, I realized I could fit in our pre-order set for our Creativity Now event next month!  We were offered the upcoming Peaceful Garden suite to go along with the event, and it will be released to all in the Holiday Mini this year.  It's gorgeous, all soft blues and neutrals, with a mix of sentiments, and lovely dies, too.  There's DSP, ribbon, embellishments and a coordinating embossing folder as well - and I almost forgot the glimmer paper mix!  A lot to keep track of, lol.  Anyway, I loved this floral sheet, and picked out the torn edge with the delicate wines and leaves in the dies.  Instead of the ribbon, I went with some Night of Navy Linen Thread, and I finished with some Hues of Blue Flowers, but the white ones, lol.  I think it all looks gorgeous over the Basic Beige, too!
