Here are the quick and fun treats for my ladies at the Countdown Kiss Advent Calendar class - there has to be a little chocolate changing hands, or it doesn't count as a class in my book! I miss this tinsel so much - I think SU! should bring it back - who's with me??!! And here's the cheat sheet from tonight's class, of course, lots of fun, ladies! Greeting Card Kids & Greetings of the Season stamp sets; Old Olive & Very Vanilla CS; Library Clips (retired); Trim Tinsel in silver (retired); Window Frames framelits; Merry Minis punch pack; Champagne glimmer paper; various coordinating markers for color!

OK, I had to sit on the latest sketch from Clean & Simple #205 for a bit before it started speaking to me. And I think it might still have been speaking in tongues! So, I decided to test a little theory I have - that chickens can make everything all right! There are days when I just need some coloring therapy, know what I mean? Besides, the chickens missed me! Best of Cluck (retired) & Chicken Wire (retired) stamp sets; Real Red, More Mustard & Whisper White CS; silver embossing powder. Here's my take on Retro Sketches #26 - simple, offset - it was harder than it looked! I still feel like my card has come out a little TOO simple, but I was trying to resist the urge to over-embellish, so I thought I'd just stop here... I might have to take another stab at this sketch before I'm happy! At least I was able to tap into my Color Coach fro some unexpected color combos for Cajun Craze! Al Punto (Easy Events) & Sweet Summer (retired) stamp sets; Cajun Craze, Old Olive & Very Vanilla CS; Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon, matching markers, self-adhesive pearls. This week's Freshly Made Sketch #49 took a googly turn for me! We'll be doing a Halloween Shadow Box insert next month in class for our collection - and Lisa V bravely volunteered her brand new Googly Ghouls stamp set for that, so I had to break it in today to get warmed up! Now that I have a wise old 7th grader, Halloween class treats are no longer "de riguer," alas! That said, this set is SO cute, I might have to break down and get my own - that mummy is over-the-top adorable! Googly Ghouls stamp set; Basic Grey, Pumpkin Pie & Whisper White CS; Brights & Neutrals DSP packs; Spider Web embossing folder; Finishing Touches edgelits; self-adhesive eyeballs optional. OK, I hereby swear that I will STOP LOOKING at any more sketch challenge blog sites! Turns out that three (not two!) is my ABSOLUTE limit! Here's my reasoning: one starts every week, on a Sunday night; the second is also a weekly, but starts on a Wednesday; and the last one starts on Friday and runs for two weeks. So I figure I can pace myself! It's built right in! This sketch is from Clean & Simple's #204, and of course all those circles had to become balloons for me! I was also eager to try the "cloud trick": I used a sponge dauber to lightly dab some blue around a punched cupcake top - I love the effect! Up, Up & Away stamp set; Whisper White & Tempting Turquoise CS; Lucky Limeade, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight & Rich Razzleberry inks. Hello! I wanted to make sure I made the official announcement for the Bonus class - a Christmas version of the Countdown Kiss Calendar! I'm offering two different sessions this time around, an evening and a day: Thursday, August 30, 6:30 pm or Friday, September 1, at 10:30 am. There's so much prep work for this class, the cost is $25, sorry, but our usual treats and goodies will abound! Let me know if you plan on coming (and which day!) so I can make sure to have a kit for you! Whew - keeping up with the sketch challenges takes some stamina! Hope I can keep up this pace, and two a week is my limit! Here is my rendition of this week's Retro Sketch #25 - something about all the blocks reminded me of this neck tie stamp set, which I wanted to lighten up with some fresh little prints. Our young newlywed principal at the local elementary school wears ties like this - hopefully he'll set a trend! Make sure to bop out to the challenge page to see all the other gorgeous creations! Best Dad Ever stamp set; Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise & Poppy Parade (retired) CS; Pawsitively Prints II (retired) DSP; Brights buttons collection. Here I go again with another sketch challenge, this one from Freshly Made Sketches! They have a card philosophy that I'd like to rub off on me - clean, yet dramatic. The only way to get there is to jump right in, I figure! This sketch was their #48 (see pic below), and I have to admit, I fell back pretty hard on my fave color combo - green & purple! I begin to see how folks can combine more than one challenge, like a sketch AND a color challenge, might have to try that next time! Still, I'd been wanting to break in my Friendship Preserves set, and play with the framelits and piercing template that go with it - voila! Friendship Preserves stamp set; Whisper White & Daffodil Delight CS; Floral District DSP; Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry & Lucky Limeade inks; Window Frames framelits & piercing template. I CASE'd this cutie straight out of the catalog: page 14 of Celebrando Creatividad, or page 35 of the "big book." This one really made me wonder - do they digitally change out the sentiments on these? They must! I converted the birthday sentiment to the thank you one - what a fun way to play with a "tag!" That little CS color circle at the top really gives it an extra pop! This is such a versatile stamp set... Al Punto (Easy Events) stamp set; Pool Party & Summer Starfruit CS; Patio Party DSP; Delicate Doily die; Linen thread; self-adhesive pearls. Remember the Boo Pumpkins? I realized that they would make a great apple shape, too, to go along with our Back to School decor, so that's what I made for our class gift for tonight! They really did come out cute, and I can't pass up a chance to play with new toys ever! Here are tonight's class instructions, as well - enjoy! Wonderfall & Itty Bitty Banners stamp set; Riding Hood Red & Wild Wasabi CS; Always Artichoke ink; Mini Milk Carton die; Bitty Banners framelits; Woodgrain embossing folder; Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon. |
