Wonderful Sunday

Does everyone I know understand how much I love layering banner shapes?  I LOVE it when a sketch does that, like this week's Sunday Stamps #100!
That said, let's face it - I have ended up with a strange little arrangement of banners here, I think.  I like it - don't get me wrong - but boy-howdy, I struggled with this one!  I finally settled on trotting out the special-release-photopolymer set You're Wonderful, which, since it's now sold out, I am lumping into this year's "retiring" stamps.  I think technically I have more time, but hey, you can't get it anymore, so what's the use in pretending, lol?  Plus, I've always felt like the flowers in this set pair up so perfectly with this DSP...
You're Wonderful Stamp Set; Gold Soiree Specialty DSP; Pistachio Pudding, Calypso Coral & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Garden Green & Calypso Coral Inks; Wild Wasabi & Calypso Coral Blendies (discontinued): Banners Framelits; Banner Punch; Jumbo (retired) & Basic Jewel Pearls.

I can't believe we're already on our last week of My Pumpkin Challenge #0415-Sew, Pretty, Sew Simple!  And for my final offering with this challenge, I'm going to try it out matched with the sophisticated color challenge at this week's In{k}spire Me #195!
And look at that, I managed to get in another retiring set - yay!  Today I'm bringing out Happy Hour - it's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?  It was fun to play with all the itty bitty bits and pieces on this one - why oh why haven't I been doing this all along?
Hint:  For the heavy Tangelo Twist baker's twine, I split out one "batt" for stitching, to cut down the bulk - and I still have 2 plies left!
Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Happy Hour Stamp Set; Smoky Slate, Basic Black & Pistachio Pudding CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Smoky Slate, Tangelo Twist & Pistachio Pudding Inks; Tangelo Twist Heavy Baker's Twine (SAB 2015); Snowflake Card Thinlet; Banner Punch; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.

Make sure you check out the designer samples over at Retro Sketches #162 - can't wait to try this one myself!  I think it will go great with Create With Connie & Mary #352's cool and breezy color challenge...
So, along the cool & Breezy lines, I couldn't help thinking of Lovely Amazing You for this challenge, both for the sentiment I chose, and the crisp little envelope shape to fit that little block on the sketch - it seemed perfect!  The Painted Blooms DSP also had some of the colors I needed, including the lovely Soft Sky-washed panel I used for my sentiment - not sure how well it will show in the picture, but it has a lot of depth in person.  I kept everything pretty clean and simple, and I love how it came out...
Lovely Amazing You Stamp Set; Painted Blooms DSP; Soft Sky, Basic Gray & Whisper White CS; Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi & Basic Gray Inks; Owl Builder & Corner Rounder Punches; Subtles Button in Soft Sky; Stitched Grosgrain in Basic Gray.

SU-per Congrats

Lots of cute layers in this week's Just Add Ink #260!  It'll be fun to match it with SU-per Challenges #86's patriotic colors!
Keeping on with trying to use soon-to-be-retired sets, I quickly landed on the logical choice of Blue Ribbon for this one - it's even logical for the color challenge, lol!  I tried to add a few details, but I wanted to keep it pretty unadorned as I envision giving this one to a guy graduate.  Seems like the right time of year to go grad, though I wanted to use the birthday sentiments at first.  I decided I could add more color contrast details this way in the end.  (And shhh!  I snuck in a touch of silver, don't tell!)
Blue Ribbon Stamp Set; Birthday Bash Specialty DSP; Silver Glimmer Paper; Whisper White & Real Red CS; Might of Navy & Real Red Inks; Banners Framelits; Lucky Stars Embossing Folder; 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" Circle Punches.

So many possibilities with this week's versatile layout at Freshly Made Sketches #183!  And I think it will go great with this week's Nacho Average Color Challenge #138, too!
So, I wanted to try and make some effort to feature some retiring stamp sets for you all from here on out, and this color challenge made me think I could slip in our hostess set, Nuts About You.  Tree colors - check.  Squirrel color - check. Accessories and goodies in the right colors - check check!  I did some fussy cutting to slip in the most colors with the least mess - I'm all butter-fingers today with my markers!  Don't know what that's about, since the scissors seemed to go ok, lol...
Nuts About You Stamp Set; Birthday Bash Specialty DSP; Whisper White & Early Espresso CS; Early Espresso, Mellow Moss & Cajun Craze Inks; 3/4" & 7/8" Circle Punches; Color Me Autumn Washi Tape; Early Espresso Baker's Twine.

Merry Kitty Kitty

OK, this week's Merry Monday #155 is sure a heart-warmer - to use a cat or dog.  Awwww!
So, since I knew I was totally going to have to use lots of retired stuff for this one, I decided to go WAY back, and pull out Here, Kitty Kitty, and go with cats!  This set is from 2007, and is SO fun, which made me pull out this sentiment from our old Christmas Messages, too.  Lots of fussy cutting for some extra pop, today, and I also couldn't resist this tinsel twine - I loved this stuff!  I might have gone a tad overboard with it - a little goes a long way, lol...  Still, it's something the kitty loves to play with - ask me how I know!
Here, Kitty Kitty, Christmas Messages & Henry Says (all retired) Stamp Sets; Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake & Old Olive CS; Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake & Smoky Slate Inks; Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder; Small & Large Tag Punches (retired); Tinsel Twine (retired).

Oh gosh - did you SEE this week's Retro Sketch #161?  I'm totally going to have to do a Pumpkin extra, lol!  And since I'm going off the rez, anyway...
Yeah, I don't know exactly why I'm so fascinated this week by the Calling All Heros set!  I think it's that I love the concept of the mix-and-match faces, like those flip books for little kids?  And of course, I love this alphabet!  I've started a little sheet of fun heroic phrases to use with it, lol - blammo!  Not sure why I went all She-Hulk on this one, either - just felt green today, I guess...
I can't WAIT for Age of Ultron!  Can you tell?
Calling All Heroes Stamp Set; Sew Simple Paper Pumpkin; Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP; Pistachio Pudding, Old Olive, Mellow Moss & Daffodil Delight CS; Pear Pizzazz, Mellow Moss & Daffodil Delight Inks; Itty Bitty Star Accent & Banner Punches (for sentiment); Stars Decorative Mask (on envelope.)

SU-per Tap!

OK, this is an adorable sketch at SU-per Challenges #85 this week!  LOVE that scatter of stars!
So, on my search for the perfect stamp set for this challenge, I was totally struck by Tap Tap Tap!  Yes!  I could do all the little keys for my "scatter!"  And yes, I know, I have set a new record for the "PITA" card, lol, and I'm not afraid to admit it...
I had to dig DEEP through my circle punch drawers looking for three different tiny-sized punches.  Then I needed to dress up the typewriter, and of course, we had to go "black and white and read all over," yuk yuk.
I had so much fun with this card today!  Thank goodness the cat didn't come investigate while I worked on the letter keys...
Tap Tap Tap Stamp Set; Typeset Specialty DSP; Very Vanilla & Basic Back CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Smoky Slate & Real Red Inks; Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain (retired); 3/8" & 1/4" Circle Punches; plus Owl Builder Punch.

Sew Motherly!

We're back again on Pumpkin Day with My Pumpkin Challenge #0415 - Sew Pretty, Sew Simple! Let's see what we can do with adding in this week's sketch from In{k}spire Me #194, too!
I had "sew" much fun last week making a Christmas card, I decided to try hitting another event.  This week it's Mother's Day, with a little help from the Crazy About You stamp set.  I truly believe that set is the perfect partner with this month's Paper Pumpkin!
I decided to go with some of my fave colors together, and then found a perle cotton from my stash to match.  (For those interested, this is UKI's 5/2 Melon #107!  I always seem to gravitate to the "food" colors, lol.)  I doubled it to make the stitching pretty robust, and broke out the rest of the sentiment onto banners to match the sketch.  I added a bit more depth to my flower by alternating full and stamped-off layers - snippy-snippy today!
Tip:  Check out the masking on the envelope - SO much easier when we have a punch, lol!
Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Crazy About You Stamp Set; Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz & Whisper White CS; Calypso Coral & Pear Pizzazz Inks; 5/2 Perle Cotton in Melon; Flower Medallion, Banner & Corner Rounder Punches; Basic Jewel Jumbo Pearls (retired.)

Hey, this is a nifty sketch over at Create With Connie & Mary #351!  Let's add in Just Add Ink's #259 sequin challenge, too!
A set that came to mind that I haven't used in a bit is my beloved Calling All Heroes - it's like a build-a-super set!  So much fun!  I decided to trot out some bright colors to go with this sequin trim I had left over from the Halloween Paper Pumpkin, Boo-tiful Bags.  Purple, green and orange just might be a new favorite combo for me!
Calling All Heroes Stamp Set; Sweet Taffy DSP; Whisper White & Rich Razzleberry CS; Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive & Tangerine Tango Inks; Tangelo Twist Sequin Trim from Boo-tiful Bags Paper Pumpkin; White Gel Pen; Banner Punch (to flag the sentiment.)
