 Woo hoo - love the out-of-the-box sketch at this week's Retro Sketch #174! These guys so ROCK at keeping me limber! I'm gping to try today to add in the color challenge at Stamps, Ink, Paper #7, too! The first thing I did was go on a DSP search for this one, to see what I have in the right colors. I was so surprised to realize that the new Schoolhouse DSP has both the yellow and the blue in it - AND they're both polka dot patterns, my all time fave! Polka dots are so happy... I wanted to break in my new Lots of Labels framelits, too, so out came Happy Notes to go with. Then I remembered that I have buttons to go with, and did my rhinestone trick again, too. Whew! Job done!  Oh goody - Merry Monday #167 is open for two weeks, so it gets to be my welcome home challenge after convention, lol! Since it's my "first card home," I'm also going to try and squeeze in some of my conventions goodies I got bring back!! I didn't really have any "heart" Christmas stamps (yet!) but I snuck them in by using the a heart framelit to highlight little DSP windows, of the Season of Cheer set we got at convention - yummy! There's a such a nice color spread in this pack, and as usual, something to love on every sheet... One of the things we love to do when we travel is explore the fun stuff around where we stay. On the Tuesday we were in Salt Lake, we decided to ride up into the mountains to see what we could see. Gorgeous! We drove through Park Cities (stopped for lunch at the Blue Iguana there, EXCELLENT carnitas!) and then pushed through to see if we could find Sundance - you know, of Sundance Film Festival fame? Turns out Sundance is a ski resort and private club, that also has an outdoor summer theater just getting ready to open for the season with The Wizard of Oz. While we rode the ski lifts for the breezes and the views, we got a great look at the Emerald City all done up for their final dress rehearsal for friends and family night. It was so hard not to crash it! Anyway, here are some stunning shots from the lift - just breathtaking.
We also checked out a lovely waterfall down below along the access road, called the Bridal Veil. What a sight! I couldn't resist testing out the water temp down at the bottom - let's just say that my fellow Phoenicians aren't going to be elbowing their way into these limpid pools, lol. Yikes! Freezing! Just right for these tasty looking rainbow trout, though - come to mama, yummy boy!

The awesome convention team plans and prepares what they call "make & takes" - cards and stamping projects just for us to play with while we're there. Part of our convention "swag" is the stamp set(s) we get to use for these projects - a totally cute and versatile set called Your Presents! We also made this cute little Santa tag using some of the new DSP from the Holiday Catty, called Home for Christmas; and an accompanying stamp set called Cozy Christmas. See that yummy new ribbon? Dreamy! They really take care of us - this convention was organized into "Tracks," so that everyone had plenty of time and room to do EVERYTHING - it was really relaxing and perfect. To be honest, this is the first time I've ever actually made the make-n-takes AT an event, lol. That's how hard they worked at coordinating this time - very refreshing!   Pumpkin Club August 1!

I wanted something sweet and delicate today, and realized I could snip out my leaf outlines for something wispy and light. I went with the larger banner card so I'd have lots of room for a few little posies - cuteness! I added some touches of yellows to brighten things up even more, and switched to our regular linen thread to tone that down a bit, too - the twine in the kit was a little heavy for what I wanted today... Looking forward to your smiling faces at the challenge - can't wait to see your creations!
