Love, love, LOVE the layout at this week's In{k}spire Me's #119! So many directions to go in! Another love is the awesome textured birch-bark paper that came in my Simplly Created Thankful Tablescape kit - which I have made ZERO table-settings with, lol... I will be so sad when I use up all of this roll! It marries so perfectly with this DSP, and I haven't gotten to use this punch enough, and, and, and - you get the idea! Tags 4 You stamp set; Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky & Whisper White CS; Sweater Weather DSP; Simply Created Thankful Tablescape kit; Chocolate Chip ink; Circles Collection framelits; Bigz Autumn Accents die; Label Bracket punch; Brights Candy Dots.

know it's the day before Halloween, but, woo, I have Christmas on the brain! I seem to have skipped over Thanksgiving all together, but I think it's because sister-in-law is hosting this year - yay! I knew when I saw this week's Paper Craft Crew #65 that I wanted to adjust the circle shape slightly, and I haven't been using my Deco Labels enough lately, frankly. See how my mind works? So, what have you got for the Crew this week? Can't wait to see! Christmas Messages & Morning Post Numbers stamp sets; Whisper White, Crumb Cake & Cherry Cobbler CS; Season of Style DSP; Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive inks; Deco Labels framelits; Large Scallop edgelit; Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. It's that time of year again! I'll be setting up a "Handmade by Heather" booth at Mountainview Presbyterian's 23rd Annual Holiday Gift & Mission Marketplace - I hope to see you there! Hope I'm right in front of the cinnamon rolls again, lol! Come for the food, come for the fun, come for the fabulous shopping - they bring it all in one place, with style and love! This year's Boutique is Friday, Nov 22, 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturday, Nov 23, 9 am to 3 pm. Come get your cinnamon rolls for Thanksgiving! (Click on the picture for a printable flyer!) For my last Wahoo My Pumpkin Challenge #1013, I decided I wanted to sneak in another owl - but something a bit bigger than the punch! I wanted him to be snazzily dressed, too - so out came the embossing folders! I really like the encouragement of the Wahoo sentiments - so fun! I think we could all use a little extra Wahoo in our lives! Make sure to get your pumpkin on - I can't wait to see your ideas! Paper Pumpkin - Wahoo; plus, Old Olive, Cajun Craze & Very Vanilla CS; Cajun Craze ink; Woodgrain, Lacy Brocade & Square Lattice embossing folders; Ovals Collection framelits; Old Olive 1/4" Grosgrain; Corner Rounder Punch. Woo hoo - it's that time of year again! I'll be setting up a "Handmade by Heather" booth at Mountainview Presbyterian's 23rd Annual Holiday Gift & Mission Marketplace - I hope to see you there! For this week's Clean & Simple #263, I knew I couldn't let another day go by without inking up my newly acquired Lovely Romance set. I love stamp sets that coordinate with our framelits! I also knew I was going to do a melange of color, and now I wonder if I should have been a bit more restrained, lol! At least I got to sneak in some fussy cutting! And when have I used so many rhinestones on one card?? Lovely Romance stamp set; Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, So Saffron & Smoky Slate CS; Pear Pizzazz & Calypso Coral inks; Chalk Talk framelits; Modern Mosaic embossing folder; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. I'm still pretty caught up in this Crushed Curry - Coastal Cabana color combo - I wouldn't have thought I'd like it so much, but I do! Today's color scheme was actually inspired by my first episode of "Save My Bakery," lol... I knew when I saw this week's Freshly Made Sketch #109, I wanted to do another scripture card, so I turned it sideways to do a vertical sentiment. Quick, simple, perfect. Love it! ODB Scripture Series #3; Whisper White, Crushed Curry & Coastal Cabana CS; Eastern Elegance DSP; Coastal Cabana ink; Lacy Brocade embossing folder; In Color Boutique Details Embellishments. OK, I think I've turned a corner in my sketches - I now actively LOOK for chances to combine challenges! What has happened to me?? So, I got pretty excited by the convergence of this week's Retro Sketch #86, and Sunday Stamps #61. A sketch and a palette, what else does a gal need? Still looking a bit thin in the scripture box as well, and I have a new stamp set there, too. So glad to finally have something from John on hand. Helped me "overcome" six loads of laundry today, lol... Take Care & ODB Scripture Series #3 stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White & Bermuda Bay CS & inks; Corner Rounder & Scallop Trim Border punches; Bermuda Bay baker's twine; Woodgrain embossing folder; Brights Candy Dots. I wanted to share a quick picture of this simple little pumpkin patch I put together for favors for our "Welcome" banner class last night - so much fun! These are all made from the Round Tab punch (is this retired now?) with a little stem of grosgrain and a few leaves added. I did a range of colors for fun, too: Pumpkin Pie (of course!), Tangerine Tango and Cajun Craze. Thanks, Brenda for our fancy cupcakes, as well - cute AND yummy! Here are last night's Welcome Banner class instructions, such as they are, as well - enjoy! OK, I am totally smitten with the new photopolymer sets Map It Out and Greetings From - I swear I think I'll start a pen-pal quest to hit every state in the Union, lol! This week's Paper Craft Crew #64 gave me just enough room to sneak in my US map, and a chance to play with more of the cute images from the companion greeting set. I see a family Christmas card in my future where I get to color in all our states at once, lol! Make sure to join us at Paper Craft Crew, can't wait to see your take on the sketch! Map It Out, Greetings From & A Dozen Thoughts stamp sets; Old Olive, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake & Very Vanilla CS; Epic Day This & That DSP; 3/4" Circle & Scallop Border punches; 1/4" Early Espresso grosgrain; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. OK, I feel like a total cheater this week, but hey, Fab Friday #29 was TOTALLY screaming "PUMPKIN" to me! Throw in some texture and dimension for My Pumpkin Challenge's #1013, and we are on fire! I'm sure it's the little chevron shapes that are doing it, but this sketch really could have been specifically FOR Paper Pumpkin, it's actually not that different from the suggested project, lol! And yes, I handcut the Cajun Craze layer behind the file folder layer to follow the curves - held my breath the whole time! So, what's in YOUR pumpkin today?? Paper Pumpkin Kit - Wahoo; plus, Old Olive, Whisper White & Cajun Craze CS; Chevron embossing folder. Stampin' Up! is celebrating its 25th anniversary all year long, but during the week of the actual date (October 25th to be exact) they thought they should pump up the party even more. So what better way than a sale on the very products that started it all: stamps, of course! For one week only (sale ends October 28!) all the stamps on this flyer are 25% off - a great boost for getting those hard to choose from sets! Click on the flyer for the full 3-page list! So, after the awesome and inspiring Stampin' Up! convention this summer, I came home inspired to try some new things, both with my "business," and my activities. As happens so often to me, an opportunity arose almost right away to put me to the challenge!
I was approached by Encore University ("Adventures in Lifelong Learning") about offering a couple short and easy classes for their students. After some discussion, we matched me up in a fun suite of classes, called "Let Us Entertain You," that featured 5 different classes that cover a range of entertainment topics, from invites and favors (those were my offerings!) to table settings, cooking and flower arranging. I decided I was game for it, and worked hard to be able to offer the classes for no fee, by using all retired materials, though current stamp sets. If you're interested in the projects, they are pictured below, and here are the Simple Invites instructions, and the Simple Favors instructions. Three basic invites with coordinating favors, in two classes, 1 hour each! It was a blast! I think they enjoyed it, and I'll wait to hear their feedback - a fun way to find a happy home for retired stock! |
