Very nice - In{k}spire Me #580 has a New Year's challenge! Let's go! So, I've been hearing that this is the Year of the Horse for CHINESE New Year - let's pull that in so we can use the gorgeous Unbridled Beauty again! Look how perfect this horse portrait looks over the New Year's sentiment from last year's Light the Sky set! It was so close in proportion that I stamped it all on one layer, and cut it out with my Deckled Rectangles! I finished with a few clips of the strange Irregular Weave Trim - I'm trying to think of more ways to use this stuff - it doesn't like to be tied, lol. I finished with a few Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems for some pops of color! Unbridled Beauty & Light The Sky (retired 2024) Stamp Sets; Autumn Toile DSP (retired); Basic White & Gray Granite CS; Early Espresso Ink; Blender Pen; Gray Granite Blend Marker; Irregular Weave Trim; Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems; #IMC580. Oo, such a fun challenge this round at SU Only #386 - to case page 14 of the Holiday Mini Catalog! So, even though I had all those lovely sketches to choose from at the bottom of the page, lol, I opted for the landscape card pictured on the right - I really need to up my landscape game, I think! After some digging around on the shelves, I wondered, could I make the new Light & Wonder suite work for this one? Let's see! I knew I wanted to show off that fab borealis DSP, no problem, but I still wanted to keep the night sky as the background, so out came a card front's worth of the retired Stargazing DSP to help me out. Then I decided I had a little naked area at the bottom of my feature DSP, so I did a little Blackberry tree line. Next up, free-handing the fussy cut on the sentiment - and I think I did pretty darn good there! A few Frosted Iridescent Dots and I was done! I think I tamed this beast! Light & Wonder Stamp Set & Dies; Lights of Aurora & Stargazing (retired) DSPs; Basic White & Blackberry Bliss CS; Blackberry Bliss Ink; Frosted Iridescent Dots; #SUOC386. Oh, SU Only #381 is running my favorite challenge this round - designer's choice! This seems like a great time to break in my new Mazel Tov stamp set - available in the Online Exclusives! We so rarely have Jewish sets, I jumped right on this one! Very versatile greetings in this set, and some lovely and meaningful images, too - like the sweetness of apples and honey to go with "good year" wishes! I did some layering in blues, and wound on some twine for a little extra texture. I finished with some Textured Gold Dots to add a bit more honey, too! Mazel Tov Stamp Set; Balmy Blue DSP (retired); Basic White & Misty Moonlight CS; Misty Moonlight & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; SU100, Crumb Cake, Real Red, Darling Duckling, Daffodil Delight & Lemon Lime Twist Blends Markers; Deckled Rectangle Dies; Balmy Blue Twine; Gold Textured Dots; #SUOC381. With impeccable timing, In{k}spire Me #552 is here for a New Years' challenge! Let's do it! I knew right away I wanted to pull out my beautiful Light the Sky bundle for this one - these fireworks are just amazing! I fit three different bursts on my black background, then pieced different colors behind them to really light up the night! It's really effective, I think! I then did up my New Year's sentiment to go with, and finished with a few Balmy Blue Iridescent Pastel Gems - just the right amount of extra sparkle! Happy New Year, everyone! Be safe! Light the Sky Stamp Set; Basic Black, Basic White, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist & Coastal Cabana CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Light the Sky & Nested Essentials Dies; Balmy Blue Iridescent Pastel Gems; #IMC552. We're going festive with our colors this round at Sunday Stamps #349! These beautiful rich greens and gold made me think of New Year's! And what's New Year's without a little champagne?? It took me quite a bit to piece together all the elements I wanted for this one, lol, but I'm so pleased with how it came out! I first identified that I wanted to use our retired Evening Evergreen for our darkest green - my favorite green ever, really. It's gorgeous with gold and a few touches of Soft Sea Foam! I stamped up the sentiment on Smoky Slate so I could pull in the gray tone, too - our Iconic Imagery bundle was just perfect for all the finishing details! I can't wait to see what YOU make of our gorgeous colors - meet you at the challenge! Iconic Imagery & Sip Sip Hooray (retired 2019) Stamp Sets; Evening Evergreen DSP (retired); Basic White, Distressed Gold & Smoky Slate CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Evening Evergreen & Soft Sea Foam Inks; Gold EP; Iconic Imagery & Sip & Celebrate (retired) Dies; Gold Sparkle Gems; #SSC349. Very nice - In{k}spire Me #524 is kicking us off with a New Year's theme! I decided to play some more with the gorgeous Light Up The Sky bundle for this one - while it IS carrying over, you still have a couple days left to nab it at the bundle price! Today was all about using these cool "masking" dies - I made up a whole background with them on Night of Navy, and then used my blender brushes to place color to show through for a glorious fireworks display! And it turned out the Iridescent Rhinestones were the perfect way to add just a touch more sparkle! So fun! Light Up The Sky Stamp Set; Basic White & Night of Navy CS; Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet & Night of Navy Inks; Light Up The Sky & Stylish Shapes Dies; Iridescent Rhinestones; #IMC524. Yay! The luck of the calendar has me working on a two-fer today! Make My Monday #216 is back, with a New Year's theme! And Sparkles Christmas Challenge #156 wants to see a Winter Wonderland! This should be fun! OK, I think I hit on my solution - I need a sentiment that covers Christmas AND New Year's! I ventured all the way back to Hearts Come Home which retired in 2019 - whew! I built my winter scene around that using my beloved Forever Forest Dies in white over Night of Navy, then heat embossed my sentiment and some Fireworks, from this year's Light The Sky. Does it work?? Hopefully! I finished with a few Classic Matte Dots. I can't wait to see YOUR projects this round - see you at the challenges! Hearts Come Home (retired 2019) & Light The Sky Stamp Sets; Basic White & Night of Navy CS; Versamark & Night of Navy Inks; White EP; Forever Forest Dies; Classic Matte Dots; #MMM216; #SCC156. Just in time, In{k}spire Me #496 has a New Year's challenge for us! I was thrilled to remember that I have a New Year's sentiment in my Handmade Wishes Stamp set! Woo hoo! Always fun when I can use a current set on a challenge, lol, though obviously, I don't mind at all going to my Shelves of Retirement, either! This one seemed a natural to pair with this firework paper in the giant Celebrate Everything pack - both these items retire today to make room for the Spring Mini catty. I have been waiting to use this firework paper since I first got the pack! And our retro-looking Adhesive-Backed Stars look great with it, too! Handmade Wishes Stamp Set; Celebrate Everything DSP; Basic White & Poppy Parade CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Poppy Parade Inks; Handmade Tag Punch; Poppy Parade Baker's Twine; Adhesive-Backed Stars; #IMC496. Perfect timing! CAS on Friday #221 has a New Year's challenge for us this week! I tried to keep it CAS, in color and content, but still bring in a bit of bubbly, know what I mean?? I love this sentiment from the Best Year set for New Year's, and I think matching it with our retired Sip Sip Hooray from 2019 is still the most iconic way to celebrate ringing it in! I added some Gold emboss for my "champagne," and finished with a few Wonderful Gems. Clink!! Best Year & Sip Sip Hooray (retired 2019) Stamp Sets; Basic White & Basic Black CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Versamark Inks; Gold EP; Wonderful Gems; #CASOF221. I'm back at Festive Friday #99 with another inspo list - this time inspired by New Year's Eve! So many fun elements to choose from - I wanted to pull something together that celebrates the spirit of New Year's, without actually saying so, lol. I think I managed it! I was quickly caught by this "best year yet" sentiment from our Best Year set, and I haven't used the Best Plaid Builder dies that go with it in forever! From the list, I chose sparkle, rhinestones, black and diecuts, and let that guide my plaid. Heck, I even threw in some pink, lol. Very fun! Best Year Stamp Set; Basic White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer & Polished Pink CS; Polished Pink Ink; Best Plaid Builder & Stitched Shapes Dies (both retired); Gingham EF (on envelope); Polished Pink Rhinestones; #FF0099. |
