I decided to play some more with the gorgeous Light Up The Sky bundle for this one - while it IS carrying over, you still have a couple days left to nab it at the bundle price! Today was all about using these cool "masking" dies - I made up a whole background with them on Night of Navy, and then used my blender brushes to place color to show through for a glorious fireworks display! And it turned out the Iridescent Rhinestones were the perfect way to add just a touch more sparkle! So fun!  Yay! The luck of the calendar has me working on a two-fer today! Make My Monday #216 is back, with a New Year's theme! And Sparkles Christmas Challenge #156 wants to see a Winter Wonderland! This should be fun! OK, I think I hit on my solution - I need a sentiment that covers Christmas AND New Year's! I ventured all the way back to Hearts Come Home which retired in 2019 - whew! I built my winter scene around that using my beloved Forever Forest Dies in white over Night of Navy, then heat embossed my sentiment and some Fireworks, from this year's Light The Sky. Does it work?? Hopefully! I finished with a few Classic Matte Dots. I can't wait to see YOUR projects this round - see you at the challenges!  Just in time, In{k}spire Me #496 has a New Year's challenge for us! I was thrilled to remember that I have a New Year's sentiment in my Handmade Wishes Stamp set! Woo hoo! Always fun when I can use a current set on a challenge, lol, though obviously, I don't mind at all going to my Shelves of Retirement, either! This one seemed a natural to pair with this firework paper in the giant Celebrate Everything pack - both these items retire today to make room for the Spring Mini catty. I have been waiting to use this firework paper since I first got the pack! And our retro-looking Adhesive-Backed Stars look great with it, too! I love this sentiment from the Best Year set for New Year's, and I think matching it with our retired Sip Sip Hooray from 2019 is still the most iconic way to celebrate ringing it in! I added some Gold emboss for my "champagne," and finished with a few Wonderful Gems. Clink!! I was quickly caught by this "best year yet" sentiment from our Best Year set, and I haven't used the Best Plaid Builder dies that go with it in forever! From the list, I chose sparkle, rhinestones, black and diecuts, and let that guide my plaid. Heck, I even threw in some pink, lol. Very fun! With the events of 2020, behind us now, there were SO many instances where I could have let difficult, sad or challenging circumstances get me down, and forget to honor the many blessings in my life. I hope I never forget to do that! Change is inevitable, and outside my control, but what IS in my control is my response. God grant me grace to always respond with compassion and love, for myself, and those around me. This quick and simple card is my commitment to that intention. This whole card was all about if I could find a current stamp set that would fit - and I found just the one: Hearts Come Home has a New Year's mention that I think is meant to be an "inside" sentiment, but that I thought would work just as well on a card front. I thought I could make it stand out more by highlighting on a dark background, which of course lends itself to a peaceful evening scene with party stars for New Year's, lol.  It is SO fitting that my final challenge of 2016 will be this New Year's challenge from In{k}spire Me #281! Wahoo! So, I actually still had the retired Making Spirits Bright stamp set still on my desk from a post earlier this week, and one of my fave combos in that set is the bubbly stuff, lol.
