Ahh, another lovely class with all my gals! I think brownies really do make everything GOOD. And I swear, we might have to make more of these wreaths! So much fun! Another thank you to Lisa V for finding this project for us - yay! Here's a picture of the cute little Mini Treat Totes I had for our chocolate stash - there's a great video of how to make them here from Dawn Olchefske. So EASY! So, here are tonight's class instructions, and see you all on Feb 21 for our next class!

Boy, this card for Paper Craft Crew #27 could just as easily be called the fuss-budget card! I don't know what possessed me, but I just wanted to throw on all the fabulous patterns from the Sale-A-Bration catalog's Sycamore Street DSP, and I must have wanted to play with my scissors! For an hour! I think I went a little overboard - the card is so busy you can't even see the rhinestones! Woah! Oh, Hello stamp set; Sahara Sand, Island Indigo, Whisper White & Tangerine Tango CS; Sycamore Street DSP; Sycamore Street Button & Ribbon pack; self-adhesive rhinestones. I've really been resisting the trend of stitching on cards. And it hasn't been easy! First, Stampin' Up! has been releasing all these totally awesome piercing templates lately, which frankly cry out for plying with thread! Then, there is the little Sweet Threads Simply Sent kit in the Spring Mini (page 22, for inquiring minds), just in time for Easter, sigh. And then, Clean & Simple's #225 had the suggestion of stitching along one edge, and that was it. I couldn't take it anymore. Anyone who's been in my playroom knows I have all those cones of Pearl Cotton - and wouldn't you know, I have one called "Daffodil." Go figure. Meant to be. Oh, Hello stamp set; Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Floral District DSP; Baja Breeze, Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry & Early Espresso inks; self-adhesive rhinestones; Essentials piercing template; Corner Rounder punch; UKI 5/2 Pearl Cotton in Daffodil. OK, we've had like 4 days of overcast and rainy drizzle here in Arizona, and It's getting on my nerves. This is the desert for cripe's sakes! So when I saw Retro Sketch #48, I had just gotten some amazing news from a friend, and I wanted to bring on the sunny colors! That's right, not only is she due in August, but they've just heard that it's TWINS! Now that's more bang for your blessing! Congrats! Baby Bundle, Sweet Essentials & Pretty Petites stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Whisper White & Poppy Parade (retired) CS; Pawsitively Prints II (retired) DSP; aqua painter; Petite Curly Label punch. This week's Freshly Made Sketch #70 had me rooting again through my stamps for anything I hadn't used in a while - and then I found Blissful Bird, which I hadn't used at ALL! Oops... Something about the bird made me think of an encouragement or sympathy card, so that's the direction I went with it - I do so much better working on my sympathy cards when I don't have an event on hand I need them for, so that I can really concentrate then on what I want to say IN the card at those times... I find these blues and greens with gray soothing as well - hopefully this will languish in my stash for a while, but it's good to have standing by! Blissful Bird & Loving Thoughts stamp sets; Baja Breeze, Basic Gray & Whisper White CS; Urban Garden (retired) DSP; Bird Builder punch; Elegant Lines embossing folder; Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon. I know the whole reason I got this stamp set was for the big ole LOBSTER in it, but when I saw the Paper Craft Crew Sketch #26 (with another color challenge, sigh) I decided to trot it out. I planned to do a nice pink lobster on this, but, er, it somehow just didn't look right [sob] so I went with the shell. We'll save the lobster for another day (and color challenge!) By The Tide & Loving Thoughts stamp sets; Bashful Blue & Whisper White CS; Subtles & Brights DSP stacks; Borders Simply Scored plate; 2 1/2" Circle punch, self-adhesive pearls. Still on my no hearts or flowers kick - so this week's Clean & Simple #224 had me rooting through my stamp sets for something new again! I only partly succeeded - this stamp set is of course retired, but darn it, I didn't get to use it as much as I wanted anyway! Then I figured since the stamp was retired, I should check the retired DSP stash, too, so, oh well, and then I still have a tiny bit of the coordinating ribbon, and... Pooh, I'm happy with how it came out! The Stampin' Gods can just forgive me! You're My Type (retired) stamp set; Whisper White, Basic Gray & Poppy Parade (retired) CS; Pawsitively Prints II (retired) DSP; Chevron embossing folder; Ovals Collection framelits; Poppy Parade stitched poly ribbon (retired.) That sounds pretty incongruous, I guess, "Fabulous Lamentations." But I always try to name these cards for the sketches that inspired them, and this one is from Fab Friday 10. (Notice how I'm not even whining even a little about it being a color challenge? Did some laundry - big girl panties today!) On top of that, I loved this quote from Lamentations in my Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 5, because it reminds me of my favorite psalm 16 - "Oh LORD, you are my portion and my cup; it is you who uphold my lot..." Funny how such awesome reassurance comes from such a sad song as Lamentations, but there it is... I take my hope where I find it - no questions asked! En Francais, Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 5 & Hearts A Flutter stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Pool Party & Cherry Cobbler CS; Labels Collection & Hearts A Flutter Framelits; Large Doily sizzlet; Festive piercing pack; self-adhesive pearls. And don't forget - Sale-A-Bration is now LIVE! Time for all the fabulous goodies! This once a year event is such a fun Stampin' Up time - for every $50 you spend, you get to choose a FREE item from the SAB catalog! Woo hoo! Click the picture here to check out the catalog - or visit my store online! Today's Freshly Made Sketch #69 was a stumper for me - that diagonal divide was freaking me out! How to make it look balanced?? I finally settled on the DSP first - Sunshine & Sprinkles from the Spring Mini catalog has this awesome sheet of clouds that I knew I wanted to use, and that brought out the umbrellas! Finally, something in Marina Mist that I LOVE! Rain or Shine & Sweet Essentials stamp sets; Marina Mist & Whisper White CS; Floral District & Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP; Island Indigo 1/4" satin ribbon; Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade & Crumb Cake inks; self-adhesive rhinestones. OK, I had to laugh when I saw Retro Sketch #47 this week - because I totally CASE'd the original of this card a while back with the Reason To Smile stamp set - too funny! For this rendition, as a sketch, I wanted to use something other than flowers, and then I wondered what kind of round shapes I had that I could use instead. So, well, the pigs just jumped out at me, and I started having this vision of the piggies peeking around from behind the sentiment, and well, let's just say that this sketch definitely jumped in line for the ones I'm working on this week! I was giggling the whole time I put it together... Button Buddies & Curly Cute stamp sets; Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla & Raspberry Ripple CS; Print Poetry DSP; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; Dazzling Diamonds glitter. |
