Looks like a lot to juggle at this round of Sketch Saturday #761! I'm excited that this is another chance to jump into a pre-order set - only one left after today! For now, let's take a look at the upcoming Umbrella Days bundle - I'm really stoked by another set with this artwork style, it's gorgeous! It also has awesome dies, I played a little bit with a few of the extras - like the raincoat for the dog, the boot tops, and some umbrella canopy pieces, too, which I admit are a little weird, lol. I don't usually go for all the little bits and bobs, but as soon as I saw the dog sweater, I was a goner, lol. I dug out this sheet of DSP from my old Sunshine & Rainbows pack for a background, then started building some circles. I added the rain streaks image behind the boy, and the extra sentiment, too. With all these details, I ended up liking the result better than I thought I would, lol, though I took some tiny liberties with my layout - I just couldn't stay that symmetrical! Umbrella Days Stamp Set; Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (retired); Basic White, Smoky Slate & Daffodil Delight CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Pool Party Inks; Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Nude & Night of Navy Blends Markers; Umbrella Days & Deckled Circles Dies; Smoky Slate Stitched Ribbon; Raindrop Enamel Drops (Paper Pumpkin?); #SOS761.

Such a lovely Autumn inspiration quote for us at Time Out Challenges #273! Such a lovely quote cried out for a little effort on my part today, lol. I decided to pull out the stops with the coloring and play with my Brusho Crystal Colors again today - always good for some messy fun! I started with a whole sheet of our Watercolor Paper, put it safely on a "messy board, "and went to town with my crystals in yellow, orange and red. Then I spritzed with water to activate the colors, dried it with the heat gun, and went again. One more layer later I was happy with my results, and I made sure it was totally dry before I heat embossed my leaves in Gold and cut them out. They looked great against the Crumb Cake, and I stamped this perfect sentiment in the corner, before flicking some Cherry Cobbler ink over everything for good measure. Finito! I love it! Vintage Leaves (retired 2018) & Autumn Leaves Stamp Sets; Basic White, Crumb Cake & Watercolor CS; Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler & Versamark Ink; Gold EP; Brusho Crystal Colors; Leaflet Dies (retired); Linen Thread; TOC273. I totally had to go back to my High Tide set from 2021 for this one, but I wanted to lighten the background more for this glorious inspiration pic! I pulled a sheet from our lovely Thoughtful Journey DSP pack, one of the "flip sides" had this beautiful wash that looked just like water to me! I stamped my lighthouse on a central medallion, floated over some first-run Misty Moonlight DSP, and added the sentiment in the corner. I finished with some of my beloved Whale of a Time Sequins, lol. I'm loving how light and airy this came out! High Tide Stamp Set (retired 2021); Thoughtful Journey & Misty Moonlight DSP; Basic White CS; Smoky Slate, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Granny Apple Green & Misty Moonlight Inks; Layering Ovals Dies (retired); Whale of a Time Sequins (retired); #TOC266. We have some super pretty colors for you this round at Hand Stamped Sentiments #439! I think these colors are just perfect for showing off our new "spa" set, Rest Relax Enjoy! I exactly sure what I would do with this set when I ordered it, lol, I just knew I WANTED it! It really reminds me of relaxing days full of pampering - I must need more of that or something, lol. I did a little bit of background stamping with the botanical elements, then got to work on my "bottles." I featured one in each of our soft colors, and dug out my Painted Poppies and Dressed to Impress sets to do the fill-in washes - just the right touch! I stamped the little botanicals on each one as I went, too. I finished with a few Petal Pink Tinsel Gems - yum! I can't wait to see what YOU come up with this round with our colors - meet you at the challenge! Rest Relax Enjoy, Dressed to Impress (retired 2022) & Painted Poppies (retired 2023) Stamp Sets; Basic White & Soft Sea Foam CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Soft Sea Foam, Lost Lagoon & Petal Pink Inks; Petal Pink Tinsel Gems; #HSS439. Very fun! The Male Room #186 is for "planes, trains or automobiles!" I know just what I want to do! This of course totally called for our gorgeous new Adventurous Sky suite - I think this is my fave plane set ever! So much to choose from for the papers, too, and the planes are so easy to dress up or dress down! I stayed pretty Night of Navy today - a little Blender Pen smudging is a wondrous thing, lol. I added one of the pretty and realistic clouds, then did a smudged up plane over it, and floated my sentiment above it all! I even used some of the Industrial Trinkets - this is the etched side, but the reverse is very rivet-like! Next card, lol... Adventurous Sky Stamp Set; Take to the Sky DSP; Basic White & Night of Navy CS; Night of Navy & Smoky Slate Inks; Blender Pen; Adventurous Sky & Stylish Shapes Dies; Night of Navy Baker's Twine; Industrial Trinkets; #TMR186. Such a fun one from Time Out Challenge #263 - Alphabet Magnet Day! This should be a riot, lol. I decided to do some bright letters against a black background, and after I changed my mind on making a big letter jumble with something profound floating over that, lol, I came up with adding an alphabet to our gorgeous Unbounded Love stamp set! It already has the call-out words in it - I just had to pick a good combo! I went with the "faith" pair, though I think there are several phrases that could go with this one, and I used my retired Playful Alphabet dies - still love this font! At the last second, I embossed my background with my old Alphabet Press EF, too, the more letters the merrier! Unbounded Love Stamp Set; Basic White, Basic Black, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green & Azure Afternoon CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Alphabet Press EF (retired); Unbounded Love & Playful Alphabet (retired (dies); White Enamel Dot Essentials; #TOC263. Nice - Cupcake Inspirations #593 has a vibrant color challenge for us this round - yum! I thought at first I'd do some crazy flowers for this one, but so close to the catalog rolling over, I didn't really see any sets I liked for it, lol. BUT, I spotted the rain boots in my Garden Meadow set - I can't believe I've never used them before! Don't they look cute in these bright colors?? I dug through my scrap folders, and found this dotty sheet of Flirty Flamingo for a background, so I layered it up on Pumpkin Pie with a layer of White in between to set them apart. I actually found this sentiment already stamped and cut in my dies - I think leftover from a class, lol. It still works! I next stamped and colored three pairs of wellies - in Flirty Flamingo, Pumpkin Pie and Poppy Parade - I think it's growing on me! I left the little white trimmings alone to pop against the colors! What a fun card! Garden Meadow Stamp Set; Flirty Flamingo DSP; Basic White & Pumpkin Pie CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Flirty Flamingo, Pumpkin Pie & Poppy Parade Blends Markers; Garden Meadows & Tasteful Labels (retired) Dies; Pumpkin Pie Baker's Twine; Orange Shiny Sequins; #CIC593. We want to see your nautical themes this round at Retro Rubber #230! I totally couldn't resist pulling in my all-time favorite sentiment from 2015's Adventure Awaits for this one (even IF I maybe already even did a Retro card this year using it, shhh, lol!) Just the ultimate nautical sentiment, and good encouragement to boot! I matched it with my equally favorite nautical DSP pack By The Shore, which I have been carefully hoarding since 2016, lol. I just love this stuff, and it's so lovely over the Very Vanilla! This is the very last bit of these pretty stripes, and I even snuck in the very last bit of the awesome fishies on the envelope! The end of an era, though I still have some other scraps and three full un-cut sheets left of the pack, bwahahaha! I also gave this card one of my two remaining Sail Away Trinkets - getting close! I can't wait to see YOUR nautical themes this round - meet you at the challenge, and don't forget to make it RETRO (at least a year old or more!) Adventure Awaits Stamp Set (retired 2015); By The Shore DSP (retired); Very Vanilla & Night of Navy CS; Night of Navy Ink; Circle Collection Dies (retired); Night of Navy Baker's Twine; Sail Away Trinkets (retired); #RRCB230. I got started by selecting my stamp set first - Everyday Details is just so pretty, and I have some time to make up with this one still, since I got it so late, lol. Today I went with the pretty floral tea cup, and I floated it all over a sheet from the retired SAB pack Flight & Airy - first time using this one - yikes! Anyway, such a delicate floral pattern on the paper was perfect to go with this pretty cuppa, and I love the dies for my stamped panel, as well as the smallest one for my sentiment! As the name implies, perfect little details! I can't wait to see YOUR floral projects this round - meet you at the challenge! Everyday Details Stamp Set; Flight & Airy DSP (retired); Basic White & Crumb Cake CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Boho Blue, Crumb Cake, Granny Apple Green & Daffodil Delight Blends Markers; Everyday Details Dies; Iridescent Pastel Gems; #MMM225. Now, I've been looking for a chance to use a new embossing folder I acquired - I just had to have it after seeing it out in blog-land! I don't do this very often, but I actually ventured outside of the Mother Ship for this one - it's called Cast Away, from Spellbinders (shhh!) It's GIGANTIC, lol, just like a couple of our own newest folders coming out in the new Annual catty - I could get used to this! Anyway, It seemed a perfect match with our retiring Waves of Inspiration bundle - the netting adds such a nautical detail! I kept it pretty simple with the posing pelican and this gorgeous sentiment - love it! Waves of Inspiration Stamp Set; Misty Moonlight DSP; Basic White, Misty Moonlight & Crumb Cake CS; Early Espresso Ink; Blender Pen; Daffodil Delight & Gray Granite Blends Markers; Spellbinder Cast Away 3D EF; Waves Dies; Rustic Metallic Dots; #TMR185. |
