![]() This week's Freshly Made Sketch #105 really cried out for showing off our lovely DSP, and one I haven't worked with much since using it for a convention swap is the gorgeous Eastern Elegance. Time to remedy that! It really helps that it features my still fave Coastal Cabana, too! I also wanted to try a different shape in in the center, and here's another one I haven't used in a bit - yay, Window Frames! So appropriate for this sketch, which kind of has a window look... Friendship Preserves stamp sets; Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry Smoky Slate & Whisper White CS & inks; Eastern Elegance DSP; Window Frames Collection Framelits; Festive Piercing Pack; Jumbo Rhinestones.

![]() Love, love, LOVE this week's color challenge at Nacho Average Challenge #56 this week, and everyone knows I'm a lukewarm color challenger as it is! This combo is so unusual, but so inspired - seriously, very cool! I couldn't believe all the possibilities that started popping up when I browsed the stampin' shelves! In the end, I decided to ink up my beloved Take Care set - way too long since it's seen ink. Did you know this is the very first stamp set I ever "doctored?" I actually snipped the branch so that I could also stretch it across a landscape layout card. It's funny to think how stressed I was that day - it felt sacrilegious, for sure, but now I've done it for a few, lol. See, all things come easier with practice! Take Care stamp set; Pool Party, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso & Very Vanilla CS & inks; Circle Card Thinlets; Bitty Banners Framelits; Sycamore Street Buttons (retired-SAB 2013); Regals Candy Dots; Burnt Orange Perle Cotton. ![]() Wow - what a cool color combo from this week's Sunday Stamps #59! The Coral and Pistachio are actually perfect for each other, never would have tried that, and for SURE never would have added GOLD! Brilliant! I decided a good way to marry these colors was to water-color - and the Pleasant Poppies stamp seems to be made just for it. It's a lovely backdrop to float the sentiment over, I think... ODB Scripture Collection 10 & Pleasant Poppies stamps sets; Pistachio Pudding, Calypso Coral & Whisper White CS; Gold Glimmer Paper; Basic Black, Pistachio Pudding & Calypso Coral inks; Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder. ![]() This week's Retro Sketch #82 was a simple and dramatic layout - such wide open spaces to play in! I decided to turn it on its side, and move the sentiment over, as well, for some variety, lol. Just received a new Scripture Series I needed to break in - good timing! ODB Scripture Series #3 & Fine Feathers stamp sets; Whisper White & Soft Sky CS; Sweater Weather DSP; Chocolate Chip ink; Basic Jewel Pearls, Neutrals Buttons; Early Espresso 1/4" Grosgrain. ![]() Whew - I can just squeeze in one last Pumpkin Challenge - especially if I combine it with Paper Craft Crew's #60! Clearly, I am rebelling against the circles suggested in PCC - but how 'bout some banners instead? Hope this still qualifies, lol... My Pumpkin Challenge #913 - Shapes is still going on for just a few more days, and you have a week for Paper Craft Crew - what can you come up with? My Paper Pumpkin kits - August 2013 Pedal Praise & May 2013 Good Life; plus, Whisper White CS & Calypso Coral ink. ![]() Yay - another chance to combine challenges today! This time, it's a happy combination of Clean & Simple #259 and In{k}spire Me's #114. So, of course since the Clean & Simple sketch suggested flowers, I HAD to do something else, and it was handy to have a color scheme ready-made for me, too! I love how well the medallions coordinate, no matter how you place them... Daydream Medallions & Oh, Hello stamps sets; Soft Suede , Old Olive & Whisper White CS; Soft Suede, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight & Raspberry Ripple inks; Large Scallop Edgelit; Essentials Piercing Pack; Brights Candy Dots; Daffodil Delight Baker's Twine. ![]() Oh, what a nostalgic sketch from Fab Friday #27 this week! When I first started with card-making, I was totally obsessed with the whole "inchies" layout - I did SO many of those cards! This week was like a blast from the past! I decided to go for a Christmas theme - I am fascinated by the cute little Oh, Goodie stamp set - YUM! Scentsational Season & Oh, Goodie stamp sets; Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede & Old Olive CS; Island Indigo, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede & Old Olive inks; Season of Style DSP; 1 3/8" Square punch (retired); Bitty Banner Framelits; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. ![]() For this week's EXTRAORDINARY Freshly Made Sketch #104, I decided to try and play outside my usual color palette. Fortunately, I still have a TON of Venetian Romance left over from my convention swaps! Taking that as the lead, I fit in the elements of the sketch, and this is the result. I only had to rip pieces off once! I still feel like I could go back and add more "stuff," but I also wanted it to stay relatively clean. This sketch would be a great opportunity to do an embossed background, though. Hm... Oh, Hello stamp set; Pool Party & Very Vanilla CS; Venetian Romance DSP; Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Pistachio Pudding & Soft Suede inks; Neutrals Candy Dots. ![]() As soon as I saw this week's Retro Sketch #81, I knew I needed to stray to the wild side! Since we're in full Halloween planning mode around here (apparently we'll be turning into the set of Dr. Who, sigh, think I can get a fez at Party City?) I decided go in that direction, and what do stacks of circle pairs look like? Eyeballs, of course! It reminds me of those boo pumpkin treats I made once a while back, and I made their little eyes all look in different directions, lol. Spooky! Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set; Summer Starfruit, Basic Gray, Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie & Basic Black CS; Witches' Brew DSP; 3/4", 5/8" & Itty Bitty Shapes Circle Punches; Brights Buttons; 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Basic Black. ![]() In keeping with all things "flippin'," I had one last feature of the thinlet card sets that I didn't get to squeeze into the class - so I squeezed it onto a SUPER simple treat (we always have a bite of chocolate, right??) The Label Card thinlet set features two 3-D banner shapes, that come all scored and ready for adding just the right touch of extra dimension to your projects. In this case, I did a simple DSP and ribbon wrap on a Ghirardelli Square, and then added a popped-up banner on top, with a "thx" from the Circle Card thinlet set. I had to show it ALL for this class! The curvy banner is totally cool, too - perfect for holiday cards! Here are tonight's Flip Class Instructions as well! Label Card & Circle Card thinlets; Modern Medley DSP; Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon; Very Vanilla & Cherry Cobbler CS. |
