 Bold, simple, right up front! LOVE this week's Freshly Made Sketch #221! This card is inspired by a lovely little boxed card set that the Stampin' Up! Mother Ship sent out to us demos for the Botanical Gardens suite. I had a good time making the cute little collection, which you can see here! For my own rendition, I wanted to add more green, and I decided to pull out my CRAFT Old Olive pad (gasp!) and emboss me up a big green sentiment, lol. Yes, I confess, I had to re-ink quite a bit, but I think this whole stamping-on-DSP-thing is growing on me... I stamped the "...on your special day" on the inside - inside sentiments are growing on me, too!  Uh oh, this week's Merry Monday #189 is going to be a tough one for me - "one layer!" After stewing for a while, I figured the only way I could get through one layer would be if I could color my brains out, lol, bonus points for the aqua-painter. And you just can't beat the coloring opportunities of Gentle Peace! Even so, I kept having to stop myself from adding dimension, too. And since I was trying to be good, I also decided to forgo bling or sparkles or ANYTHING. This card is practically NAKED! I love it, though. Be filled, my friends, with the peace that passes all understanding. Always. I am fascinated by the Sunburst Sayings suite, and all the possibilities in arranging those "rays"! Sunny days are HERE! I decided to also play with my SAB Botanical Gardens vellum stack, something I'm usually a little shy of. How to adhere it down? Argh! I know that one day I'll get that little "paper only" sewing machine (check my Amazon wish list, homies! Birthday in May!) but in the meantime, I have to try strategic gluing, lol. Today, I used a few glue dots here and there, and then placed the rhinestones on top - perfect! Totally doing this trick again... Love this "window" sketch from Match the Sketch #108! I'm excited to pull out my toys for this one! I'm combining it with this week's LOVE theme over at TGIF #39, too! I ended up going in a totally different direction than I thought I would on this one. I of course immediately thought of our wonderful Hearth & Home Framelit set, but I wasn't "loving" the ideas I had for the theme with that one. I kept coming back to our hostess set Love You Sew, but the sentiment I wanted to use was NOT the right shape. After grousing for a bit, I decided to go for broke, and stamp-a-ma-jig the heck out of it, lol. Worked like a charm! I went with a color scheme I found in the mini catty, too - that'll have to do me until we can get a new color coach! As I type this, I just realized I must have sublimated the stars in the sketch, since I went so "star" crazy in my final version, lol... In thinking over the sketch, I decided I wanted to use letters for the shapes, but I needed to figure out how to handle a three color challenge, too! To be honest, I added on the star theme when I realized the cute heart shape in Epic Alphabet wouldn't fit where I wanted to use it! It all snow-balled from there! See how my mind works?
