 Good times ahead - SU Only #219 is all about coloring - in ANY medium! Yahoo! It didn't take me long to settle on my beloved Blends Markers for my coloring medium, lol, but what to color? I finally settled on one of the black and white sheets from the lovely Botanical Butterfly DSP from this year's Sale-A-Bration - perfect! I decided to stick to just three colors, and I landed on Mango Melody, Pool Party and Flirty Flamingo, quite the color array for butterflies, lol. I chose a sweet sentiment to go with from Butterfly Gala, seemed a natural fit, lol, and added a touch of ribbon to finish - all quick, easy and fun - it doesn't get any better!  Oo, another fun combo from this week's Fusion Create challenge - I think these ladies know their audience! I stayed on the sketch this time - something about those layered shapes was just calling me, lol. When I dig a quick scan for something lonely, I came across my Lemon Zest set - I haven't used it in forever! I even still have one last citrusy sheet from our old Tutti-Frutti DSP - score! I created a bright base with a basket-weave textured sheet of Daffodil Delight, added my big banner, and then started working on my lemons: I added the barest touch of Mango Melody around the edge by rolling the stamps a bit in that pad. It's very subtle, but I think it adds just enough of an edge to separate the two layers... I finished with a Happy Birthday inside! Wow, I am DAZZLED by this pretty color combo from this week's As You See It #196 - they're calling it "Celtic Forest" - so cool! I think these colors can help me squeeze in Inspire Create Challenge #039's "pets" theme, too! I wasn't sure which pets I'd be celebrating, lol, but last night I dreamed again about our sweet boy Adso, who we had to let go in December. He was such a good kitty! He was raised with our dogs, and was positive he was one of them, always up for a good belly rub, and begging at the table, sigh. He knew he was special because HE was the pet allowed on laps and furniture, lol. And such a ladies' man! He LOVED class days, when he could spend all day with the gals! Anyway, thinking of him sent me to our wonderful Nine Lives set, and I made a dapper kitty that doesn't look much like my sweet boy, but sure makes me smile. Miss you, buddy! We have a challenging sketch this week at In{k}spire Me #388! They have a color challenge to go with, too, I'll have to mull that over, lol... So, this sketch was a stumper for me - I studied it and played with different ideas for a while before I finally hit on turning it sideways - not something I usually do! Once I did that, it came together pretty quickly, and I was even able to squeeze in the colors! I still love my Rooted in Nature set, and I can't seem to stop stamping the sentiments on the big leaf (maybe it's a nasturtium?) - such a fun shape to work with! I added a few details, and my shower of little leaves, and I'm all set! When I was doing a browse for Retro Rubber the other day, I came across my old Tote-ally Tess set, from back in 2010, so I immediately thought of her when I saw today's challenge! I'm having some fun looking over all her little accessories, too - she's like a Stampin' Up! paper doll, lol. Gosh, I miss our Stampin' Around wheels! Anyway, I figured she'd be a perfect "girl" for the Sisterhood! AND, she made you this card - see her holding it up? Har har, I'm so funny, lol. She was super easy to color in with my Blends (which I have and she doesn't, haha) and then I HAD to fussy cut her out and float her over a full-size version of her cute card. I sure got a chuckle out of making this today! Looking at these inspiration pics, it was hard not to gravitate to the collection of potted cacti, especially because we now have the gorgeous and oh-so-creative Flowering Desert set. Seriously folks, it's like a build-your-own prickly pear kit, lol, and here in Arizona, they really do come in pink! I think it happens when they have too big of a cochineal infestation, but it's still pretty, lol. Maybe one day I'll even do my own harvest and dye some yarn, lol. Anyway, I couldn't resist building this beauty, and the paintbrush pot from Crafting Forever was just right for holding it!
