Ahhh, the best kind of challenge at this week's Retro Rubber #133 - anything goes! I love doing this with my retired sets! After setting a new heat record for Arizona this weekend (102 on Sunday, over 101 recorded back in 1898!) I decided the only cure , besides a dip in the backyard pool, was ice cream! I love building popsicles with our playful Cool Treats set from 2018, and while I still have some hoarded DSP, and the fab dies that go with this, I stuck to SIP - stamps, ink and paper! Yum! I threw on a few different sprinkles, and tried to imagine what my flavors would be: ube? pistachio? Yes, please! Cool Treats Stamp Set (retired 2018); Whisper White & Early Espresso CS; Purple Posy, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso & Seaside Spray Inks; Layering Ovals Dies; Early Espresso Baker's Twine; Seaside Spray Sequins; #RRCB133.

Very nice - In{k}spire Me #419 has a sweet summery combo for us to play with this week! I have to be honest, I was really freaked out by these colors, lol - I really wasn't at all sure I'd be able to pull them in! Then I got to thinking about our old Swirly Birds set, and the awesome squiggle dies that came with it, Swirly Scribbles. I decided to see if that could be a low-key way to layer all these colors together, and it really paid off, I think! My card is really more of an abstract version of the sketch, I guess, but a cool way to tone down what could have been Grapefruit overload, lol. Yay! A Wish For Everything Stamp Set; Whisper White, Basic Black, Grapefruit Grove, Pear Pizzazz & Rococo Rose CS; Versamark Ink; Shimmer White EP; Black Sequins; Corner Rounder Punch; #IM419. Our sketch this week is pretty as a present at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #455, don't you think? I think that makes it perfect for a birthday for SU Only #248, too! Now that we have the retiring list to look over in SU! land, I'm revisiting some departing sets that I know I will miss, sigh. Broadway Birthday has been around for a couple catties now, so it's not that surprising to see it go, but boy, I'll sure miss it anyway, especially the gorgeous dies that go with! Such a playful set, it cries out for bright party colors, always, lol. I can't wait to see YOUR creations for these challenges - hope you can share over at the challenges! Broadway Birthday Stamp Set; Bubbles & Fizz DSP (retired); Whisper White, Bermuda Bay & Calypso Coral CS; Bermuda Bay & Daffodil Delight Ink; Broadway Lights Dies; Banner Triple Punch; Calypso Coral Shimmer Ribbon; Bermuda Bay Enamel Stars; #TSOT455; #SUOC248. What a beautiful theme this week at Fusion - "let us remember," in honor of ANZAC Day! Now THIS is the project I was saving my Peaceful Poppies for, lol. And I finally noticed that there's even a remembrance sentiment in the accompanying Peaceful Moments set - that only took me four months, sigh. Anyway, I'm so pleased with how my combo turned out this time, from the gorgeous background paper, to the big bold poppy bloom, to the simple sentiment banner - just right. Peaceful Moments Stamp Set; Peaceful Poppies DSP; Whisper White, Basic Black, Poppy Parade & Cherry Cobbler CS; Versamark & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; White Shimmer EP; Banner Triple Punch; Poppy Moments Dies; Gold Pearls; #FusionANZAC. What a great guy theme at this week's The Male Room #134 - music! This one is a cinch with this year's Music From the Heart set - the one I just used recently for that rainbow challenge? This time, I decided to pair it with the gorgeous classic guitar from last year's Country Livin' - love this beauty, and I can make it even prettier by rockin' it out in Seaside Spray - SO ready for the stage! Otherwise, I'm keeping it clean and simple, just right for a dude! Music From the Heart & Country Livin' (retired 2019) Stamp Sets; Seaside Spray, Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Seaside Spray, Crumb Cake & Gray Granite Blends Markers; Pinewood Planks EF; Stitched So Sweetly Dies; Seaside Spray Faceted Dots; #TMR134. I am LOVING these bright juicy colors from Inspire Create Challenge #067! OK, it was SO hard to not run straight to our generous Poppy suites for this one - these colors seem lifted straight from that DSP, lol. I couldn't go so far as to not do flowers, though, so next up was Abstract Impressions - I am LOVING this set! It has it all - forgiving images that I can layer, and sweet sweet sentiments to go with - just so fun! I think this will make a bright hello card for these isolated times! Abstract Impressions Stamp Set; Whisper White & Pool Party CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Poppy Parade, Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss & Pool Party Ink; Layered Leaves EF; Stitched So Sweetly Dies; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; ICC067. Ooo, check out our gorgeous sunset colors this week at Fab Friday #188! So, I've been wanting to do this scraps technique for a few weeks now - it's been out on the bomb blogs recently, and I've been fascinated! And lucky for me, I have the same DSP patterns in all our colors, so it's a go! I started with a black background sheet, trimmed a hair smaller than my usual layer size (4 7/8' x 3 5/8") then I layered on repeating pattern of DSP scraps in our colors: I chopped chunks of 4" scraps, so the ends hung over, and just glued everything in place as I went along. Then I trimmed all my ends, and floated the trimmed panel over another Black layer cut at 5" x 3 3/4", so it looks like they're all floating over the black - COOL! Finish with a happy thought, and we are SET! So, show me your projects in these colors - can't wait to see you at the challenge! Tasteful Textures Stamp Set; Bermuda Bay, Grapefruit Grove, Blushing Bride & Pool Party DSP (retired); Whisper White & Basic Black CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Stitched So Sweetly Dies; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; #FabFri188. One little set of balloon's I keep overlooking are the cute combos available in our sweet Special Someone set - every critter needs a balloon, of course! I kept the colors fresh and light - I keep gravitating to Purple Posy these days - such a calm and cheery color! I brought out this chipper squirrel today, and stamped off his fur in Crumb Cake to go with the background. Just so simple and cute! Special Someone Stamp Set; Purple Posy DSP; Whisper White, Purple Posy & Crumb Cake CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Crumb Cake & Purple Posy Inks; Stitched So Sweetly, Bitty Banner (retired) & Special Day Dies; Basket Weave EF; #HSS337. Wow, I'm not as well-read a lit major as I thought - I had no idea Robert Louis Stevenson also published this children's poetry book, lol - thanks to The Library Challenge #57 for the tip! One of the first things I thought of when looking at this cover was this retired Pretty Paisley's embossing folder I still have - a floral oval frame is just the thing! I combined with a bit of the gorgeous Best Dressed DSP, and added this sweet silhouette to finish it off - I have VERY few images of actual children, I've just realized, lol. I really like how simple and sweet the finished card is! Silhouette Scenes Stamp Set; Best Dressed DSP; Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss & Purple Posy CS; Blackberry Bliss Ink; Pretty Paisleys EF (retired); Stitched Shapes Dies; #TLC57. We're hoping you can also pull in "your favorite" as an added theme! When I saw the "favorite" theme, I automatically checked out my DSP stash, and the one I have the least left of is our completely gorgeous See a Silhouette - I think this has been my all-time fave DSP in a LONG time - I love the rich colors and organic patterns! I also LOVE to pair it with my beloved Seaside Notions, also a favorite of mine - who needs dies when you just adore the images anyway! You should see my inside cover of the case - I have sticky note masks of every image in this one, lol. Sigh, I think I'm really missing the ocean these days... I can't wait to see YOUR take on our sketch and theme this week - meet you at the challenge! Seaside Notions Stamp Set; See a Silhouette DSP; Whisper White, Soft Sea Foam & Crumb Cake CS; Soft Sea Foam & Early Espresso Inks; Soft Sea Foam, Petal Pink & Seaside Spray Blends Markers; Decorative Ribbon Border Punch; Seaside Spray Faceted Dots; #TSOT454.
