 Love this landscape sketch from Match the Sketch #157 - bringing in the new year! Some of the design team samples gave me the idea for building a background for that banner - enter one last sneaky peek, Birthday Blast! This set also has some coordinating edgelits - Star Blast! I had some fun fitting in all the little bits and bobs on this one, so I could show off some possibilities, lol. There are some shapes I didn't get to, but I think you can get the idea here... I can't wait to try some box decor with this, too!  It is SO fitting that my final challenge of 2016 will be this New Year's challenge from In{k}spire Me #281! Wahoo! So, I actually still had the retired Making Spirits Bright stamp set still on my desk from a post earlier this week, and one of my fave combos in that set is the bubbly stuff, lol. Seemed a natural to ink it up again and celebrate the New Year with champagne! Happy, happy New Year, everyone! Be safe, and enjoy yourselves! Taking in the shapes of this sketch, I decided to pull out my vibrant Marquee Messages set. I wanted to also use a fun DSP, so I went to the new (preview alert!) Succulent Garden DSP, and took my colors in general from there. It's so funny, I've used this DSP a couple times now, and I'm using all the off-patterned sides, because I just love the colors, but, shh, I didn't get the stamp that goes with it. Maybe I should rethink that, lol... Like I need an excuse! This is also the first time I have "painted" the coloring on this focal image - usually I have paper-pieced it. I like this subtler look! I really tried to play with a style I actually don't dabble in much: off-kilter layers, and a touch of ragged washi in the corners. This looks so cobbled together to me, lol, and of course, I had to toss on a few sequins just so you'd know it was really me, but still, when I walk away and come back again, this card is actually growing on me. I'll have to keep dabbling, I think! "Just Keep Swimming" is a new set in the 2017 Occasions catty that I consider a real hidden gem. How fun is it to build your own little monsters, gummy bears or fishies? Totally cute, and I couldn't wait to ink up my very own hairy purple monster, lol. I finally landed on the right combo of stamping and stamping off, and I'm thrilled with the final result.
