I love the simple elegance of this week's Clean & Simple #285, and I was thrilled when I saw In{k}spire Me #140 to complement it! I decided this was definitely the time to finally ink up my lovely little paper lanterns - I have been dying to use this set for so long. It seems really plain to me, but with just enough color pop to carry it off - I really love the final result! Here's my confession: I totally only used the corner rounder punch so I could make the supply list a little bit longer, lol... Good thing it looks just right! (One last hint - I also "stamped off" first on the lantern globes to mute the color just a tiny bit!) Happy Congratulations Stamp Set; Crumb Cake, Crisp Cantaloupe & Whisper White CS; Crumb Cake, Strawberry Slush & Crisp Cantaloupe Inks; Corner Rounder Punch.

Wow, there are some SERIOUSLY cute samples over at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #129! This sketch is bringing out everyone's best for sure! So of course I immediately started hunting for my "any" shape - and had a hard time deciding, lol... So I went with NO shape, from my newest photopolymer set! This came together quickly and simply, with a nice gentle color scheme. I'm SO into the pretty stripes in the Watercolor Wonder DSP! Love it! Show & Tell 1 and 2 Stamp Sets; Watercolor Wonder DSP; Whisper WHite, Smoky Slate & Crushed Curry CS; Snoky Slate, Crushed Curry & Basic Black Inks; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. You know, sometimes timing is everything! It sure worked out that way this week, for the happy marriage of Retro Sketches #107 and Nacho Average Challenge #82! This week's inspiration totally started with the arrival of a new order from Stampin' Up! As I gleefully sorted through my new loot, I came across a tiny little stamped square, "Just For You," of a butterfly in what looks to me like Rose Red, lol, and a cute little rhinestone, and a hand-written note on the back: "Just a little something special for a very special someone. - Julia" That's right folks, SU's employees also actually STAMP, and they spread our stampin' love - this little love note came from my warehouse picker! I am so thrilled! In honor of this sweet reminder, I combined my two challenges to make my own little set of 3" x 3" love notes, a packaged set of four ready to go! Feel the love? Secret Garden & Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Sets; Rich Razzleberry, Rose Red, Blushing Bride & Whisper White CS & Inks; Secret Garden & Bitty Banner Framelits; Mini Square Envelopes; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder. I really love the color challenge at Merry Monday #101 this week! It was so fun to dig for elements I wanted to use! I really enjoyed the samples I saw that incorporated a bit of silver sparkle, so I started out looking for a good image to emboss. Once I settled on that, I realized I could do an "odd" shape, and it was all circles from there on out! Gorgeous! Wonderful Blessing Stamp Single; Smoky Slate, Cherry Cobbler & Whisper White CS; Silver Foil Sheet; Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder; Encore Silver Ink; Silver Embossing Folder; Cherry Cobbler Marker; Circles Collection Framelits; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. So much FUN in thie week's Paper Craft Crew #86! Banner flags AND word bubbles? Be still my heart! I knew right away that I wanted this one to be bright and colorful, which totally meant my brightest DSP, and my cheery little feathered friends in For The Birds... So fun to color in these images, and I decided to stray to a bright green little wagon, to celebrate our completed garden plan (seeds on order, too - woo hoo!) For The Birds & Just Sayin' Stamp Sets; Whisper White & Gumball Green CS; Watercolor Wonder DSP; Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry, Gumball Green & Island Indigo Inks; Black Staz-On; Word Bubble Framelits; Banner Punch; Regals Candy Dots. Still time to squeeze in one last project for this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #0314 - Fun With Circles & Bags! We've been having a slightly sad week here Chez Heroldt - it's tough to come back from Spring Break and jump on the grind again! So, I put together some little treat bags to cheer up my little grouch while we got back to work - who says jelly beans can't cure everything! The basic idea for folding the awesome Tag A Bag Treat Bags came from my favorite Make & Take from Convention this year - how cool is it to convert that flat bag into a pleated one? Here's a link to a quick video of how to do that, and here's a picture of that original project! Paper Pumpkin - In The Bag & Seriously; plus, Tag A Bag Gift Bags; Baked Brown Sugar, Bermuda Bay & Summer Starfruit Inks; Scallop Tag Topper & Corner Rounder Punches; Whisper White CS. Oh goody - I'm able to just sneak in under the wire with a quick card for this week's Freshly Made Sketch #128! I felt like coloring today, so of course out came some butterflies! I also knew I wanted to really show off a dramatic DSP on this sketch, as well, it seems just made for it... All told - 20 minutes, including the time to write this post - a new record for me! Best of Butterflies & Express Yourself Stamp Sets; Whisper White & Island Indigo CS; Watercolor Wonder DSP; Smoky Slate, Island Indigo, Gumball Green & Black Staz-On Inks; Stitched 1/4" Grosgrain in Basic Gray. Bringin' out the trios at this week's Clean & Simple #284! Yay! I seem to be on a "man-card" kick these days - for me, that means the "watch"word (God, I crack myself up!) is simple. No frills, no sparkles, deeper colors. This card ended up fitting that bill perfectly, and let me get to play with stamp set that I don't pull out enough to boot! Let's face it, when you love your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (SAMJ), you love sets like this! Clockworks & Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Sets; Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake & Always Artichoke CS; Woodgrain Embossing Folder; Chocolate Chip & Always Artichoke Inks; Bitty Banner Framelits; Regals & Neutrals Candy Dots. I love that Sunday Stamps #71 uses asparagus for its color inspiration this week - I LOVE asparagus! Retro Sketch #106 was just perfect for pairing with! I decided to go with a VERY simple and pared down thank you card - who knows, maybe something Hubby will feel happy to give someone in his travels... I'm a bit embarrassed at how squeaky clean and sharp my Wild Wasabi pad was - clearly I don't use it that much, lol! Banner Greetings Stamp Set; Afternoon Picnic DSP; Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar & Wild Wasbai CS; Wild Wasabi Ink; Banners Framelits; Subtles Button; Arrows Embossing Folder; Ecru Perle Cotton. I haven't been playing at Merry Monday for that long - but I know what a milestone it is to hit #100! Congrats to them! Sure makes this week's sketch & color combo challenge even MORE awesome! As soon as I saw that "Lime Green" suggestion, you KNOW I ran for my Lucky Limeade folder, lol... Had some fun with markers again on this stamp set - and my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig! While I'm not a big "pink and green" person, I have to admit, this is a totally cute and fresh combo! Merry Little Christmas Stamp Set; Whisper White, Lucky Limeade (retired) & Strawberry Slush Inks & CS; Festival of Prints (retired), Floral District (retired) & Quatrefancy Specialty DSP; Delicate Designs Embossing Folder; Stretch Ruffle Trim in Strawberry Slush; Banner Punch. AND, we had a lovely and productive class last night for the first pass of our Spiral Flower Topiary - thanks so much, ladies! Everyone is officially an expert in spiral flowers now, lol... Since we did our topiaries all in white and misted on color, I wanted to give out some additional samples of the flower in other materials, so I put together these quick mini coffee cups featuring flowers made in colors and in newsprint - quick and dramatic! And the Hershey Nuggets don't hurt, either, I guess! |
