 In{k}spire Me #331 has a New Year's challenge going, and I thought it'd be perfect for my New Year's Eve post! I am also completely thrilled and honored to debut my addition to the Sunday Stamps Challenge Design Team, with our color challenge #169 - I hope you'll join in with us! This whole card was all about if I could find a current stamp set that would fit - and I found just the one: Hearts Come Home has a New Year's mention that I think is meant to be an "inside" sentiment, but that I thought would work just as well on a card front. I thought I could make it stand out more by highlighting on a dark background, which of course lends itself to a peaceful evening scene with party stars for New Year's, lol. Yeah, I know, pink stars?? What can I say, they work for me, and it was added fun to make the windows match! I hope you'll join us over at Sunday Stamps - can't wait to see your creations!  Just Add Ink #391 has an intriguing challenge this week - just choose two, of twine, trees or tags. Cool! So, I started out by thinking I'd try NOT to make a Christmas card today, AND, it's been ages since I used our longest-running set Lovely As a Tree. Today's the day! I paired it with this lovely Psalm 91 sentiment from Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 2 - seems perfect to go with our mighty oak! A touch of twine, and I'm all set! I am loving this set - it has a big fancy "happy" that you can surround top and bottom with accompanying phrases - it sort of reminds me of our old various "endless wishes" sets writ large - so fun! I floated it over some pretty Delightful Daisy DSP for an elegant background... I think this challenge will go perfectly with TGIF #139's "last-minute Santa" challenge, too! So, I never would have imagined how appropriate this challenge would be, but of course, I do manage to forget I live with a teenager for 5 or 10 whole minutes at a time once in a while, too, lol. Because of course, my daughter the grocery store cart-girl gets to work Christmas Eve, and about 15 minutes before her shift comes asking if I have a few little candy treats she can hand out. Sigh. How can I not rise to that challenge? I was able to combine our old Mini Muslin Bags with my last few Green Sprigs, stamped with a simple sentiment from Oh, What Fun, and stuff them with some mini candy canes. Always worth the girl-grin to drop everything for a couple minutes! It even kinda looks like the inspiration pic! Woo hoo! I thought I'd see the trees that the sketch suggested, really, but then I realized - I see hot Chocolate! Lol. It works like this - we get a little retired list (this time for the Holiday Catty, sob) and I stick a colored dot on all the sets that will be leaving soon. OK, I'm totally skirting the sketch edge today, I know. I just really wanted to see if I could make the new Sunshine & Rainbows set fit in here! If you squint a tiny bit, you can totally see it, right? Lol. The main thing that attracted me to this set is the set of cloud edgelits included with the Rainbow Builder framelits - I can see all kinds of cloudy borders and frames ahead! I wanted to try stamping my rainbow colors at least once - next up will be just cutting them from solid CS, I think. Still , much less fiddly than I thought it would be! Today turned out to be a good day to break in another new set for me - More Than Chocolate on deck this time! I finally caved and got this cutie - I've been wanting to make up my own box of chocolates for a while now, lol. I was surprised to realize that every single chocolate has two or three step stamping options - whoa! I assumed a lot of the detail I saw in the catty was added with markers, but we are WAY too cool for that! It totally went faster tan I thought it would, too - I thought for sure I'd have a hard time making it look filled in, but it was a cinch! Channeling my inner Whitman's today...
