Hope you're over at Paper Craft Crew #52, checking out all the COOL creations from this week's DT! What a fun sketch! For me, the call of the newly acquired Tag It stamp set is still too strong, and I'm getting warmed up for next month's Christmas in August class as well. This week's layout seemed just made for show-casing many fun new holiday toys - wee! Tag It stamp set; Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive & Whisper White CS; Silver Glimmer & Season of Style DSP; Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive inks; Chalk Talk framelits; Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine; Frosted Finishes embellishments; Basic Jewel Rhinestones.

This week's Retro Sketch #74 ended up being all about the punches for me! I thought, "Self, what punches could you do cool floating cut-outs with, that haven't seen the light of day lately?" So I scanned my punch sheets, and noticed my trusty Bat Punch (not to be confused with the Bat Mobile, the Bat Grapple, or the Bat Cheese Grater, lol) that I think I haven't actually EVER used on a card. Then, I could feel how the bats were lonely for a little flying friend to come play, and HE had to be as well-dressed as possible, and whew, it just all bubbled right up! Yes folks, we are already planning Halloween around here! I suspect the front door will be a tardis, sigh... Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set; Basic Gray, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie & Very Vanilla CS; Witches' Brew DSP; Bat, Owl Builder, Corner Rounder, Word Window & Modern Label punches; Basic Black 1/4" Grosgrain; Brights Candy Dots. For this cute sketch from Fab Friday #23, I envisioned something really pared down - and I almost got away with no stamping at all! At the last second, I decided I really needed just a little bit of ink - so that's all I did, lol! Fun, fun, fun! Express Yourself stamp set; Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Soft Sky & Cherry Cobbler CS; Basic Black & Soft Sky inks (on the envelope); Circles Collection & Bitty Banners framelits; Needlepoint Borders embossing folder; Essentials Piercing Pack; Large Paper Doily Sizzlit; Serif Essentials Alphabet Die; Regals Candy Dots; Full Heart & Corner Rounder punches. When we went to Convention, there were three stamp sets that they let us know they were going to be giving us, to use for the Make & Takes they had designed for us to play with. Consequently, I have been waiting a LONG time to get those sets - I actually wanted all of them, and had to hold back on buying them because I knew theye were waiting for me in Salt Lake City! Today's card is with one of those sets - "Tag It." SO many cute saying in this one, and they all coordinate beautifully with the Chalk Talk framelits - ah, a match made in heaven (again!) Thanks so much to Freshly Made Sketches #96 for helping me play with my new toys! Tag It stamp set; Strawberry Slush, Island Indigo & Whisper White CS; Quatrefancy Specialty DSP; Tag A Bag Accessory kit; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder. I wanted to post a couple pics from tonight's 2013 Convention Open House - I do believe fun was had by one and all! This was a chance for everyone to see all the awesome swaps I brought back (over 200!!), the wonderful Make & Take projects that Stampin' Up! had for us, as well as my class samples from the awesome Convention Connection by Janet Baker and Susan Adams that my upline recommended. What clever, creative and DOABLE projects - can't wait to translate some of these to our own classes! We also enjoyed an extremely well-dressed dessert by my beloved Our Best Bites, of course, Blueberry-Lemon-Ricotta-Cheesecake Bars - yum yum! Never made anything quite like it - and It rocked! These cute little party swags are from the latest Paper Pumpkin - the Party Pennants kit! Love It! Other activities we enjoyed were digging through convention goody bags for everyone - I loved bringing home the bounty to share with all of us - making one Make-n-Take of our own - my "Six-Sided Swap" card - and getting a crack at my freshly stocked Retired/For Sale box. I almost forgot our good long browse through the new Holiday Mini, too! And the slide shows of the 400 pictures I took! Yikes! So nice to take it easy and just enjoy each others' company - back to the grind next month, though, lol!
When I saw this week's sketch from Sunday Stamps #54, I just KNEW I wanted to use my new O Holy Night stamp set - the blocky style of this one just totally speaks to this sketch! I also knew I wanted to try my hand at coloring this stamp all different colors with markers to go with the Christmas DSP I chose - whew, while I love the result, I don't think I'll be doing 75 of these for the house card this year! Maybe one of my boards could get this one - maybe I could make it through 10 or so... Anyway, LOVED this layout - not a style I would ever have tried without this clever sketch! O Holy Night & Greetings of the Season stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler & Whisper White CS; Season of Style DSP; Midnight Must, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Baked Brown Sugar & Chocolate Chip inks; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; Hearts A Flutter framelits; Needlepoint Border embossing folder; Corner Rounder punch. You know, I got to thinking about how ironic it is that I'm playing with all these Fall-themed cards while it's still 115 degrees out here in Arizona, lol. I have to be honest - we don't really have Fall here. I DO miss it - especially the leaves turning the way they did back in Virginia. Even when we take a leaf-peep ride up to the Mogollon Rim, there aren't enough different kinds of trees to really give the full spectrum I used to see "Back East!" So, I have to make do with my stamps and inks! This week's Paper Craft Crew #51 was just right for getting into Autumn - make sure to go check out the other awesome creations, too! Magnificent Maple, Truly Grateful & Best of Greetings stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango & Very Vanilla CS; Sweater Weather DSP; Chocolate Chip; Cajun Craze * Crushed Curry inks; Corner Rounder & Dotted Ribbon Border punches; Brights Candy Dots; Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon. One of the (many?) weird things that I think non-desert dwellers have a hard time understanding is how excited we get around here in Arizona when it rains. Or even when it gets cloudy, lol. I have been on several vacations when it has been pretty drizzly the whole time, and my hosts have been so sad for me - while I grin like a loon and assure them that rain is such a novelty to me - I love it, and can we please go outside?? Last night we even watched Shakespeare in the rain at Utah Shakes on our way back from Salt Lake City! So, for today's blessedly cloudy day, I felt like it was a perfect time to do another Pumpkin Color Challenge - let's call it Rhapsody in Blue Pumpkin, shall we? Who knows, maybe monsoon is starting around here, too - you never know! June 2013 Paper Pumpkin - Hello To You; plus, Soft Sky CS; Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Marina Mist & Night of Navy inks; Brights, Regals & Subtles Candy Dots; 1 3/8" Square Punch; Chevron embossing folder (on envelope flap.) Well, Convention 2013 went out with a bang! I am so excited to share with you our awesome adventures, gifts and creativity - I can't tell you how much inspiration and love we were showered with! I wanted to share just a few highlight pics with you for today, to whet your appetite for the full onslaught when I see you Thursday at Open House! Todd and I actually arrived on the Monday prior to Convention, so we wanted to make sure to take in some of the local sights. How could come all this way and NOT see the actual Salt Lake?? So we took a little ride out to Antelope Island one day - here's a quick pic of one of the island's namesakes! This gorgeous park shows the nicest side of the Great Salt Lake, I think. And it wasn't stinky at all! Besides movies and restaurants, we also found time to go through the Leonardo, a contemporary Arts & Sciences museum. So many fun toys to play with! Once we were approaching the actual convention time, one of the first things Lisa-my-forever-wing-girl and I did was head out to the Riverton Campus for a quick tour. Here's a picture of the welcoming banners hanging in the impressive atrium! This was also our first taste of moving through the logistics of entertaining 6000 people at once - you learn to love lines pretty quick, whew! Needless to say, we wiped out our combined 300 swaps in one day, lol! We stuck our heads in at the shipping facility, too, kinda takes your breath away to see all the stamps boxed and ready to go! Here's a quick and crazy shot of opening session - this gentlemen (sorry, I don't watch The Voice!) is singing our theme song while everyone dances away! It was SO awesome to be all together in one place - they really worked hard to make it so we could all fit with enough room to party! All our general sessions and one of our classes were in here - good times! I don't want to go into all the details of the next two jam-packed days (and nights!), but I'll close with our photo op with Shelli, YES! I plan on organizing most of my pics into a few separate slide shows that make a bit more sense for you. Hopefully I can make it for Thursday, lol, since there are 500 of them. Yikes! |
