Oo, this week's Retro Sketch #134 looks just like a garden view through a window! I think this my chance to play with a new photopolymer set I just received called You're Wonderful. Such whimsical and varied sentiments, and pretty flowers to color - yes! I also decided to indulge in a bit of fussy cutting today - whew! What a fun set! You're Wonderful Stamp Set; Sahara Sand, Blackberry Bliss & Whisper White CS; Moonlight DSP Stack; Memento Tuxedo Black, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey & Pistachio Pudding Inks; Scallop Trim Border Punch (retired); Basic Jewel Pearls & Jumbo Pearls (retired.)

Uh oh, check out the round shapes in this week's In{k}spire Me #166! How curious that this sketch pops up just as I have unburied an ancient set of "Carousel Notes," from the 2008 catalog! This set included 6" square Chocolate Chip envelopes and 5 1/2" scallop circle note cards in a variety of colors, of which I have a few Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss ones remaining. Talk about a blast from the past! Let's start from there! So, it's turning out to be a pretty "rogue" card - all retired and non-SU! (shh...) I got to thinking that the nice rectangle in the middle was perfect for a scripture saying, and once I started with one retired color, I just has to bring out more of my hoarded stock, lol... Oh well! I'd have used Kiwi Kiss instead of Lucky Limeade if they had made the markers back then! Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 3 Stamp Set; Carousel Note in Baja Breeze (retired); Whisper White, Smoky Slate & Lucky Limeade (retired) CS; Chocolate Chip & Lucky Limeade (retired) Markers; Circles Collection Framelits; Elegant Lines Embossing Folder (retired); Neutrals Button in Basic Gray (retired); Lucky Limeade Organdy 1/8" Ribbon (retired.) I love the tag in the layout of this week's Freshly Made Sketch #155! And look at that - Nacho Average Challenge #108 has given me a spooky color scheme to play with too - yeah! So, conveniently, the Merry Everything set actually has a Halloween tag - excellent! Now to dress it up a bit! Notice that I brushed a bit of white craft ink over my spider web emboss to help it pop a bit more. I had to add that bit of black, too, but I think that'll be ok, lol! Merry Everything Stamp Set; Moonlight DSP Pack; Whisper White, Basic Black, Mossy Meadow & Tangelo Twist CS; Whisper White Craft, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss & Basic Black Inks; Banners Framelit Dies; Note Tag & Bitty Bat (retired) Punches; Spider Web Embossing Folder (retired); Basic Jewel Rhinestones, colored with Pumpkin Pie Blenda. I can not resist combining Clean & Simple #308 with Sunday Stamps #85's yummy color challenge this week! Hopefully that'll help make up for going the obvious route and using Festival of Trees on the sketch - I can't help it! I spent some time playing with combining colors and tree accessories - I think I actually like the final result, too! Funky and colorful! Of course, it's hard to wrong with green and purple in any combo in my book! Festival of Trees Stamp Set; Regals DSP Stack in Garden Green (retired); Gold Shimmer, Very Vanilla & Rich Razzlebery CS; Garden Green, Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry & Gold Encore Inks; Gold Embossing Powder; Tree Punch. Wow! I've never tried something like this week's Merry Monday #127 - Christmas Bingo! The idea is that you pick your "bingo," across, down or diagonal, of the sketch suggestions listed on the pic below, and create from there! Ooo, what to pick? Think I'll take the center vertical row - DSP, Ribbon or Twine & a Punch. With a wide open field like that, I decided to totally indulge some of my personal faves on this one - most notably, this particular DSP from the All Is Calm collection. Since I haven't played with my Christmas Bauble yet, I threw that in, too! Christmas Bauble & Good Greetings Stamp Sets; All Is Calm DSP; Whisper White & Pear Pizzazz CS; Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate, Pear Pizzazz & Soft Sky Inks; 1 1/4" Circle Punch; Bitty Banners Framelits; Lost Lagoon Silky Taffeta Ribbon; Linen Thread; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Hee, this week's Retro Sketch #133 looks all buttoned up, doesn't it? I think this cool layout is perfect for showcasing some pretty DSP, but I don't feel very floral today - so I'm going dotty, lol... I really love all the colors in the Lullaby DSP collection - anyone else starting to feel a twinge of alarm at the countdown to lose Coastal Cabana? I sure am! I feel that way about Baked Brown Sugar, too, sigh... What to do? Just Sayin' Stamp Set; Lullaby DSP; Whisper White & Coastal Cabana CS; Baked Brown Sugar & Coastal Cabana Inks; Word Bubble Framelits; Corner Rounder Punch; Large Polka Dots & Decorative Dots Embossing Folders; Subtles & Brights Buttons in Bermuda Bay, So Saffron & Crumb Cake; White Baker's Twine. You know what I found out from this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #0914 - What Makes You Smile? I smile I LOT! This week, I am smiling about my hard-working, brand spankin' new high school freshman, who has been seriously busting her butt and taking names, too! My little introverted grade-schooler is blossoming into a mature and fun-loving young lady, joining after school clubs, making new friends - stretching her wings! All while keeping up the grades - yeah! In our house, THE academic reward of choice is your own personal jar of Nutella, and is usually reserved for finals week. My little MVP has earned a mid-term jar! I'm so proud of you, bug! Good thing I could whip up a sparkly strawberry gift bag for you! Hint: I used two of the envelopes from this month's kit, adding a piece of matching CS for the gaps left in the bottom. So easy! Paper Pumpkin - Seriously Amazing; plus, Strawberry Slush CS & Ink. Hm, I think today that I will match up Clean & Simple #307 and In{k}spire Me #165 - just seems too intriguing not to try! So, I only got ONE non-Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Catalog this year (you couldn't tell, could you?) and I've decided it Needs some air! Having its own framelit set is what ensures I will fall for it, darn it! So, instead of flowers, I went with leaves, and we'll just have to imagine that there are turquoise leaves out there somewhere, lol... I do love the woodsy look of this card - pretty! Fall Fest, Chalk Lines & Lot sof Thanks Stamp Sets; Mossy Meadow, Sahara Sand & Tempting Turquoise Inks; Sahara Sand & Whisper White CS; Fun Fall Framelits; Linen Thread. Pumpkin Club September 27! I love sketches like this - where I can just play with pieces, mix and match colors, textures - they always come out SO different from each other - so exciting! For my card, I felt like I should pay homage to the first cup of coffee I've had since the beginning of summer, and pull out Perfect Blend to play. This sentiment really makes me laugh, because on Saturday after my Grande Mocha (thanks, Brenda!) I was revving on ALL cylinders for the whole rest of the day! Lol, just ask my family... Perfect Blend Stamp Set; Park Lane DSP; Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss & Calypso Coral CS; Basic Black & Old Olive Inks; 1/4" Grosgrain in Old Olive; Brights Button in Old Olive; White Baker's Twine; Corner Rounder Punch.
