I'm excited, too, that I can have a little help from Global Design Project #162 for my layout! So after a quick browse through the Shelves of Retirement, I grabbed Acorny Thank you from 2015 - LOVE this set! I love all the different acorns and hats to mix and match, and the awesome punch that makes it a snap to really crank them out. I pulled my little banner strip from Country Lane DSP, so I set the rest of my colors from there as well - don't you wish acorns really grew in all these colors?? I sure do, lol...  We have a pretty portrait sketch for you at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #383 this week! I decided this layout gave me just the chance I needed to show off another new set that I've been wanting to get inky - Seize the Day. This week's "speak your mind" challenge from As You See It #187 comes at an important time for me... I started this challenge looking for a set that had the right words of encouragement, for someone dear to me who is going through an exciting, enervating and confusing time. Someone who isn't hearing me, or anyone, right now, but who needs this message more than anything. I'll be keeping this card for them, saving it for that time when words and comfort, understanding and acceptance, can play their part again. Stay safe, my heart. For me. I love this iconic sketch from Inspire Create Challenge #29! In my mind, I broke down the sketch by thinking in terms of some kind of cool colored background overlaid with a nice big sentiment. Once I went hunting for the background, I quickly hit on Tree Rings - I love this stamp! All these stacked log-end images are just fascinating to me! I wondered what coloring them on Crumb Cake would look like, and immediately decided to find out, lol. I stamped a panel, selected a rough rainbow of Blends Markers, and just went to town. I'm really happy with the subdued harvest palette that resulted - very Autumnal! Confession time - I have but have NEVER used the Sweet Soiree Decorative masks - I loved that panel of delicate vines, though I never got the birthday set that went with the other mask, lol. Today is the day I'm finally using it! I decided they would be the perfect backdrop for our beautiful First Frost stamp set, that also comes with gorgeous and delicate dies - it's hard to not go too crazy with all the fun elements, lol. After stenciling my mask, I tried to exercise some restraint on my leaves and flowers, and wound up with this gorgeous Congrats - Best Wishes inside! It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to tackle this set - in the end I couldn't resist finding something to fit my beloved Stitched Squares - I use those Stitched Shapes framelits every day, I think! I finally realized that Varied Vases would be just right, and would give me some color play time, too - a win-win! I tried to keep it fairly clean and simple, too, but I love how the colors pop - our beautiful new Brights collection is always my go-to for this set, lol. Even with a moon, I decided to go for a Christmas card - I love snowy woodland scenes - they convey such a peaceful Christmas feel to me (maybe in contrast to the usual chaos around here for the holidays, lol.) I started by sponging in a simple moon in So Saffron and Basic Gray with a circle mask, and then stamped this lovely winter row of trees from Winter Woods. Dazzling Diamonds glitter added all the snow I wanted! I thought this sparkly sentiment from Christmas Pines was just right! A breath of fresh Winter air! I've had a new set giving me the hairy eyeball on my desk for a couple weeks now - the scrumptious Nothing Sweeter cookie set. This set is my substitute for ACTUAL sugar in my life right now - gotta get it somehow, lol! Anyway, it's bundled with the fascinating Sweetly Stitched framelits, that, in addition to cutting out our cookies, also have an addition framelit for adding three different stitched edges - super cool! I pulled out ALL the toys on this one, and, I think for the first time EVER (shhh!) actually squeezed in our bonus challenge to use die-cuts! Woo! So, what can YOU bake up for this one! Fusion has a pastel Halloween challenge going this week - wild! I really wanted to do a pile of funny pumpkins for this sketch, and I ended up going with 2017's Pick a Pumpkin set - it came with super cute detailed thinlits, too - alas, it was with us too briefly, lol. I combined it with a few details from our current Spooky Sweets - I love that misty background stamp, and I have been using that "Spooky Sweets" sentiment EVERYWHERE!
