Lol, we have some Franken-spiration at this round of SU Only #388! Bring on the green! So, even though it's a teeny bit late for the big spooky day, I borrowed my DL's Spooky Halloween bundle - Sarah always gets the corny Halloween stuff, lol! At first I thought I'd have to skip this challenge, but then I remembered how weird she is (hee hee!!) I went straight for the franken-pup - he's pretty darn cute! And of course, I had to do one of these haunted houses from the dies - I backed all the windows with Crushed Curry for that glowing look! I also love all this over my very last sheet of this pretty plaid from Plaid Tidings - I'm one of the 4 people in the world who loves candy corn, so I've used all this sheet first, lol. Spooky Halloween Stamp Set & Dies; Plaid Tidings DSP (retired); Basic White, Crushed Curry & Basic Black CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Pumpkin Pie & Gray Granite Blends Markers; Iridescent Black Pearls; #SUOC388.

We want to see some Halloween colors this round at Make My Monday #263! So, I dearly love purple and green together, and it's one of my favorite Halloween combos, too - BUT, I decided to stick with the classic orange and black, and play a little bit with saturation values instead! I started by creating this faux plaid background with last year's Artistic Mix Decorative Masks. Something I do a lot when creating my own plaid is to always set it at an angle - no fussing with trying to match edges perfectly, especially when I'm going to mat it on a color anyway! Once that was done, I went to the Shelves of Retirement to pick a retired set that hasn't been out in a bit - 2018's Spooky Sweets wins! I love the bats in this one, and the moon image to go with helps me stick to my orange and black brief - yes! I even have some Orange Dappled Dots! I can't wait to see YOUR choices for this one - meet you at the challenge! Spooky Sweets Stamp Set (retired 2018); Basic White & Basic Black CS; Pumpkin Pie & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Artistic Mix Decorative Masks (retired); Tasteful Labels Dies (retired); Pumpkin Pie Heavy Twine; Dappled Dots; #MMM263. Wow, what a cool photo inspiration at this round of Time Out Challenges #299! This one really was a stumper for a bit, lol. But then I remembered - what about Spooktacular Bash? It had all kinds of fun frames in it, and sentiments to add that I could do in "chalk!" Et voila! This turned out to be way more fun than I had thought it would, and actually came together in a cinch, too! First I created my Country Woods DSP background, then I went ahead and cut a bunch of Gold Foil frames withe the Ornate Frames Dies. Then I heat embossed a few goodies in white on black for my "chalkboards." Then it was all down to the arranging! I realized at the last second that I could slip in a couple Monster Bash Enamel Shapes in my tiny frames, too - LOVE it! Spooktacular Bash Stamp Set (retired 2019); Country Woods DSP; Basic White, Basic Black & Gold Foil CS; Versamark Ink; White EP; Ornate Frames Dies (retired); Monster Bash Enamel Shapes (retired); Iridescent Black Pearls; #TOC299. Shopping Our Stash #558 is called "hey, ghoulfriend!" and it's for Halloween! I pulled out all kinds of retired goodies for this one, lol - so fun! I decided to go with Cookie-Cutter Halloween from 2016 for my main image, but then with no sentiment, I pulled out my old Merry Everything set from 2014! This fanged Pumpkin Pie tag seemed perfect with my little vampire, lol. I floated everything over a Halloween plaid from Plaid Tidings - this DSP pack is lasting me forever, and saving my bacon so many ways! I even pieced little Dracul's vest from this, very snazzy and colored in some details with a Pumpkin Pie Blend Marker. I wound on some Black Baker's Twine, and threw on some Monster Bash Enamel Shapes just for good measure! Cookie-Cutter Halloween (retired 2016) & Merry Everything (retired 2014) Stamp Sets; Plaid Tidings (retired); Basic White, Basic Black & Pumpkin Pie CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Pumpkin Pie Blend Marker; Cookie Cutter & Note Tag Punches (both retired); Black Baker's Twine; Monster Bash Enamel Shapes; #SOS558. Aww, If You Give a Crafter a Cookie #209 is all about Halloween! With all those cute jack o' lanterns, I went straight for my beloved Pick of the Patch stamp set from last year! I love all these cute pumpkins and gourds! I stamped a range of them, plus my favorite big bottle gourd, lol, and went to town with the fussy cutting! The punch just doesn't cut all the shapes I love! I did a couple leaves, and of course the crow, and gave my classic pumpkin a face, lol. Just so cute! I popped everything up over some retired DSP, and finished with a few Black Iridescent Pearls. Spooky, baby! Pick of the Patch Stamp Set (retired 2024); Pumpkin Pie DSP (retired); Basic White & Basic Black CS; Peach Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Timid Tiger, Mossy Meadow, Pecan Pie & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Iridescent Black Pearls; #Cookie209. Christmas Cards Part 3 Here it is - our last Christmas Card class of the year - except maybe Pumpkin Clubs, lol - there was just too much to celebrate! Class features 6 cards with envelopes, snacks, drinks, and a special gift from me, all for $25! Make sure to RSVP, and come make some merry! Class is ON for Saturday, October 18 at 2 pm! One of the great things about being on challenge design teams is the awesome chance to scope other new challenge blogs! Just this morning while doing my comments, I came across First Cup Challenge #7, for their October themed offering! Sign me up! I knew right away that I wanted to use my old Making Spirits Bright set from 2014 - not coffee, but who doesn't love an eyeball martini for Halloween?? I kept it pretty simple, especially since my Halloween DSP stash went walkabout, but hey, I think this is perfect for a little martini, lol. My Tailor Made Tags Dies were still out on my desk from yesterday, so I used the next size down for my spooky libation, and added a Spider Trinket to add to the chill (down your spine, that is, lol.) Don't drink and fly! Making Spirits Bright Stamp Set (retired 2014); Smoky Slate DSP (retired); Basic White, Basic Black & Mango Melody (retired) CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Smoky Slate & Mango Melody (retired) Blends Markers; Tailor Made Tags Dies (retired); Basic Black Baker's Twine; Spider Trinkets (retired); #FCC7. Eek! Check out our spooky fun colors this round at As You See It #357! I was so glad for a chance to ink up my one Halloween set this year, lol, Fright Night! These colors just seemed to lean that way, lol, AND I got to pull in some of the pretty new DSP sheets, too! I pulled the lovely speckled sheets for Timid Tiger, Secret Sea and Cloud Cover (such a brilliant combo!) and added a bright splash of Pumpkin Pie with the little banner! Stamping the Secret Sea directly on the Timid Tiger DSP was so easy, and came out perfectly! A few more Secret Sea details finish things off! I think Secret Sea might be the new Black for me, lol. I can't wait to see YOUR takes on our scary colors - meet you at the challenge! Fright Night Stamp Set & Dies; Cloud Cover, Secret Sea & Timid Tiger DSP; Basic White, Secret Sea & Pumpkin Pie CS; Secret Sea Ink; Secret Sea Faux Linen Ribbon; Secret Sea Flat Pearls; #AYSI357. Pumpkin Club September 27! Did you receive your September Paper Pumpkin kit yet? Prepare to FALL in love! Check out the video HERE! I hope you can join us for our next Pumpkin Club, Saturday, September 27, at 2 PM - RSVP to let me know you are attending, and we will save you a seat at the table! Club is free for my subscribers, and includes any extra supplies you might need, plus drinks and snacks! Such a fun sketch at this round of Try a Sketch on Tuesday #675! Love that background! I started by scoping out what I wanted to use for my three floating objects - what's something I haven't used in a bit? While busy turtles were awfully tempting, lol, I spotted my Jar of Haunts on the retired shelves and decided on that - that jar of eyeballs never gets old! How cute to do a little trio of jars! Since all my Halloween DSP is still awol, I made up my own with some Basic Gray DSP, and a spiderweb-embossed Smoky Slate panel. I did my cross cuts and made up my flag background - love it! Next I did up my three jars and added some color, then finished with some skull-and-crossbones at the top. Spooky! Jar of Haunts Stamp Set (retired 2016); Basic Gray DSP (retired); Basic White, Basic Black & Smoky Slate CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Real Red, Lemon Lime Twist, Azure Afternoon & Peach Pie Blends Markers; Everyday Jars Dies (retired); Spiderweb EF (retired); Monster Bash Enamel Shapes; #TSOT675. I love this layered sketch from Try a Sketch on Tuesday #672 - and it has a tilty panel, too! As I started looking this one over, my pre-order for the next set of Online Exclusives arrived, lol. That top panel would be perfect for the awesome new Halloween set, Fright Night, I figured! So except for not really having that floating sentiment, I stuck pretty close to the sketch - so fun to make a spooky set of layers! I struggled a bit because my entire stash of Halloween papers has apparently gone walkabout, sigh, but then I remembered this candy corn colored plaid in my old Plaid Tidings pack - whew! Hopefully those papers turn up, but I'm still really happy with how this turned out! Fright Night Stamp Set & Dies; Plaid Tidings DSP (retired); Basic White, Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze & Pumpkin Pie CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Forever Plaid & Basics 2 EFs; Monster Bash Enamel Shapes (retired); #TSOT672. Hm, a new challenge at AAA Cards #291 called "follow the leader!" I have to do my own take on the card shown! As I looked more closely, I realized that this was actually a layered card, not a "partial emboss dip" that I had thought at first glance. Hm! That got me thinking about our retired Season of Elegance DSP - with all those gold accents, loved this stuff! I still have some, so I grabbed it, and then went digging through my dies bin for an alphabet. BUT, all the way at the back, lol, I came across my Wicked Die set from 2022! Now, THAT could be cool! I was hoping to float this over a red and gold sheet, but I didn't have enough, so green it is! I even threw on a spider that's part of the set, up in the corner! I stamped some additional spooky sentiments under my die from 2016's Spooky Fun, and popped it all over the DSP. I really like how this came out! Spooky Fun Stamp Set (retired 2016); Season of Elegance DSP; Basic White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Wicked Die; Black Sparkle Gems; #AAA291. |
