 Holy smokes - you've GOT to check out this new challenge I just found: The Library Craft Challenge #14 - a card makers' challenge inspired by BOOK COVERS!! BRILLIANT! I can't wait to play, kicking it off with the cover of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou - not a light read, either, lol. I started by scoping out my bird sets, but I didn't feel quite right about doing something cutesy. In the end I remembered my silhouette birds from High Tide, and went hunting for a possible scripture to go with. I think of Angelou as such a strong personality - I think Psalm 34 is a good match for her - and the strong details of her story... What a start to this challenge for me, lol. I say "perfect timing," because I was just going through some - ahem - STUFF laying around on my desk, and found my little sleeve of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. After a quick check to make sure that yes, these ARE actually still available, lol, I put them in the "Get this inky!" stack. I decided to go for the big medallion for this card - I'm not sure I've ever used this one! think I went straight for the cloud one to use with embossing paste and never looked back. But hey, any chance to show off my fave new color trio is good by me, lol. Hope it's clean and simple enough - another one-layer - twice in one week! Woo! I must have stared at my stamps for an hour looking for something fun to stamp in a trio - and I just wasn't feeling flowers today, lol. AT LAST, I spotted Dragonfly Dreams - and boy, it's been an age since it saw ink - perfect choice! I went for soft and subtle colors today, to represent the pretty sheen these guys always sport, and dropped on a few matching sequins, too. ALMOST one-layer, except I had awesome thinlits to play with, as usual, lol. Can't wait to see what YOU come up with - see you at the challenge! And I must say, if I'd had this gorgeous Mango Melody Bug when I was in high school instead of the oxidized pine green one I did, I bet I'd still have it to this day! I just can't seem to stay away from our new Brights collection these days! In order to at least TRY for CAS, I also kept it all one layer, and only gave in for three tiny rhinestones, lol. Hey, this is super CAS for me, lol... Did I still have it? A quick rescue from the "for sale" box and I am on my way, lol. This lettuce image is actually the one that originally caught my eye with this set - too cute! Why-oh-why didn't we blends back then for coloring?? Because, I mean, look how perfect they are for it!! I combined with a quick stamped-off background made with our upcoming Buffalo Check stamp - so excited to make any color background or check I want - the mind boggles. I kept it otherwise quick and simple - gotta stay CAS!
