Winter Psalm

We're closing out the year at SU Only #265 with a "winter" challenge - perfect!
I knew right away that for a winter theme, I HAD to use my beloved Feels Like Frost DSP - the photo sides of these papers never fail to amaze me, and the silver designs on the other aren't too shabby either, lol.  I chose this lovely snowy scene, and broke it up a little into columns.  Then I went hunting for a pretty sentiment.  I've always loved this quote from Psalm 55, so I've saved this Blessing From Heaven set since 2011 just to keep it handy - looks gorgeous over the pretty scene!
I can't wait to see YOUR winter projects, too - see you at the challenge!
Blessings From Heaven (retired 2011); Feels Like Frost DSP; Whisper White & Pretty Peacock CS; Pretty Peacock Ink; Adhesive Backed Snowflakes; Banners Pick a Punch; SUOC265.

I'm back at Time Out Challenges #166 for the "peaceful" challenge - what a great idea!
During these stressful times, I have to come right out and say, I think it is my daily contemplative practice that is keeping me at peace.  I don't talk about my faith too often, but twice a day, I have 20 minutes that I offer up to Him, to use as He will, and my heart is clearer for it, I think.  This set retired last year for us, but I have hung on to it for this sentiment, which I think perfectly captures my contemplative time, and His peace.  How can I help but be grateful?  Peace to you all!

Such a cute sketch this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments #338!
I went browsing through my retiring sets again today (I don't really want to say how many I'm saying goodbye to this year - ouchie!) and realized that my beautiful Hold on to Hope set hasn't been out in a while - I so love this Isaiah quote!  I stamped off the pretty vine in Soft Sea Foam for my background, and then stamped one to cut out full strength in Pear Pizzazz.  I used a marker to touch up the Curry flowers, and floated a layered cross over all that.  Simple and perfect!
Hold on to Hope Stamp Set; Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla & Early Espresso CS; Soft Sea Foam. Pear Pizzazz & Early Espresso Inks; Crushed Curry Stamp-n-Write Marker; Cross of Hope Dies; #HSS338.

So glad to see another tic-tac-toe at this week's Retro Rubber #127!
For today's row, I went with the diagonal - Green-Diecut-Nature.  I knew right away I wanted to pull out my old Inspired by Nature set - 2008, but still so elegant!  I paired it this time with this wonderful scripture from Ecclesiastes 3, this one from Our Daily Bread's Scripture Collection 1.  Something seems to be going on with them - they might now be Divinity Designs?  Anyway, this collection is also an old one, but I'm not able to find a year, sigh.  I do love it paired with the simple grass image, though!  Simple and perfect!
Inspired by Nature (retired 2008) & Scripture Collection 1 (ODB) Stamp Sets; Gray Granite, Early Espresso & Whisper White CS; Old Olive Ink; Early Espresso & Old Olive Stamp-n-Write Markers; Rectangle Stitched Dies; Textured Weave Ribbon in Gray Granite; Clear Epoxy Droplets; #RRCB127.

I'm loving this awesome bold sketch from this week Inspire Create Challenge #059!
Seeing this lovely off-center focus made me think of my too-long neglected scripture sets - how perfect to highlight one against a gorgeous background!  I went digging and landed on this beauty from Psalm 19, and realized how perfect a sheet from our amazing Feels Like Frost Papers would be to go with - what perfect illustrations of the "work of His hands!"  This came together so quickly, but I feel like it's just right...

"Little boxes, little boxes, little boxes made of ticky-tacky!"  Sorry, every time I look at our inspiration color pic at this week's Sunday Stamps #211, that little song just runs through my head, lol!
With a color spread like that I wanted to find a way to use as many as I could, while keeping it fairly contained.  I kept thinking about that song, too, and remembered our little pot of brushes in Crafting Forever - perfect!  Then, I just wasn't satisfied with the sentiment - but what about something from scripture?  I finally came across this quote from Psalm 19 that seemed to fit - God's paint brushes are just bigger than my little pot, lol.
So, what will you create?  I can't wait to check it out over at the challenge!

I decided to focus on DSP today, and it's hard for me to stop going back to the gorgeous Woven Threads - I am LOVING our new In Colors, and these papers give us even more option for sneaking them in!  I decided to add this lovely Our Daily Bread sentiment from their God Verses 2 set - I've always felt like Psalm 19 is so celebratory! So, what will YOU create??  I can't wait to check it out over at the challenge!

Yippee!  So excited that Joy of Sets #007 has a new grid for us to play with again!
I decided to go for the far right column:  Twine-Die Cut-Emboss, and with some trepidation, give our new Heirloom Frames a go!  I naturally pulled in the colors from the Woven Threads DSP, which is also in the suite it's shown with, but for my sentiment I went with this Isaiah quote in Hold on to Hope.  And that was the kind of encouragement I needed to get through these frames, lol.  It took me more tries than I want to tell to figure out the new "sandwich" for my machine, and in the end, I also discovered that the ORDER of the sandwich is making a big difference for me.  I finally got some results I can share, though - woo hoo!
Hold on to Hope Stamp Set; Woven Threads DSP; Whisper White, Terracotta Tile & Purple Posy CS; Pretty Peacock Ink; Heirloom Frames Dies; Heirloom Frames 3D EF; Linen Thread; Faceted Dots in Pretty Peacock; #JOSTTT007.

It's so funny to see this sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments #311 this week - I was just going through some old dies and came across my old giant scallop oval, lol.  I feel like this is deja vu!
In the end, I decided to go smaller with my Layering Oval framelits, and show off this lovely line from Isaiah - I got this idea I could put in some fireflies to be our "lights" lol.  I kept it pretty simple, though I tried to squeeze in a little detail where I could - scallop edge, and embossed background.  A nice show of Mango here, too!

AAA #134 has another cool combo for us this week - keep your clean and simple design in one corner, and add in a musical twist if you can.  Nifty!
I tried to keep the card as spare and simple as I could, though I ended up going for some pretty layers - but no bling!!  These guys are determined to drag me kicking and screaming into clean and simple by hook or by crook, and I think it's working, lol!  A quick survey confirmed that I have NO music sets - isn't that crazy??  Then I thought to check my scripture sets, and sure enough, this beauty from Psalm 69 leapt out.  I stamped it over some pale leaves and flowers (that other flower just snuck out there, I swear I don't know what happened, lol) and kept it at that.  Now THIS is how to make music!
