 CAS on Friday #142 has a very elegant color challenge this round - copper, black and white - so pretty! I still have Christmas on the brain, so I knew I needed to pull out another new set - today it's Beautiful Blizzard! Besides some lovely snowflakes and swirls, with chilly sentiments, there's also the Blizzard Thinlit - which cuts out a whole sheet of snowflakes at once! Gotta love that! I tried it today with my copper foil, and selected a few to show off. As usual with a copper challenge, I ended up pulling out everything I have in copper, lol - foil sheet, thread, embossing powder - oops. Still noting like a warm copper blizzard, right?  Oh yes, As You See It #185 has my fave green blue color combo for their challenge this week! Awesome! I do miss Dapper Denim! With this gorgeous combo, I knew I wanted to qua-paint today - I've been neglecting them terribly lately for my Blends, lol. But I also wanted to do Christmas - could it be done? Oh, you KNOW it! Enter Beautiful Baubles, with a bang! Besides the super cute line-art in this set, made just for coloring freaks like me, it also has an amazing and expansive thinlits set, which will have to debut some other time, lol. Today we're letting the coloring do the talking! I know these are unusual colors for the holidays, but they do kinda remind me of lavish table settings and celebrations, lol. Is that weird? I can't wait to see what YOU come up with! I LOVE to get messy! Today's challenge was just what I needed to pull out my Brusho Crystal Colors, and "brush" them off for a little fun, lol. I decided to work with a my heavier watercolor papers for this one, because I knew I wanted to really play with the "blooming" effect of the Brusho crystals. This turned out to be a good call, as was the "messy board" I put down first. Put a spritzer in my hand, and it just goes everywhere! Anyway, I started with a heavy water spritz, and then tapped on blue and orange crystals, letting them bloom how they wanted, though I did add a few more water spritzes after the crystals on the corners. I blotted any big drips with a tissue, then finished with my heat tool - too impatient to wait! I decided some big Mango letters were the perfect finish, and I added a congrats on the inside - so fun! Also, I think I'm now officially a die-hard Blends coloring freak - I can't seem to stop, lol. I've been wanting to pull out my Dandelion Wishes set for a couple weeks now, and this sketch finally ticked the right boxes, lol. One look at that nice big circle, and I knew this was my chance! So, I think it shows - this one was a TOUGH one for me! After an extensive search, I had to admit that I don't think I have a stamp set that has the word "imagine" in it - and I really wanted to use it! So, I built my sentiment today with the gorgeous Brushwork Alphabet - it was quite the job, let me tell you, lol. I wanted this to be about creative imagination, so I next pulled out my Crafting Forever set for the little pot of brushes, and finished with a few paint spatters from Timeless Textures. Whew. The brushes are little closer to the sentiment than I wanted, because right when I was putting in place, the stamp FELL OFF THE BLOCK to the location you see before you - no WAY I was re-doing all those letters, lol! So I made it work - I might actually kind of like it, even, lol...
