 I love that Freshly Made Sketch #142 gives us so much room to play with! You never know WHAT could happen, lol! I decided this layout gave me a nice open space for the cute new single stamp, Hey There Buds. (Yes, folks, THAT'S where the post title came from - sheesh!) This stamp was MADE for markers - yes! While I kept the card layout to a pretty clean rendition of sketch, I decided that I wanted to add some cute extra details. This whole card basically evolved from the ribbon - you HAVE to try this new 1/4" Cotton Ribbon - it's so yummy!  Time to mix things up with this week's Nacho Average Challenge #95! Then, after I got started, I realized that I wanted to do this card in the new In Colors, too, which works out great for Fab Friday #44! Yay! I went back and forth a bit on this new stamp set, Kinda Eclectic. Now that I've played with it, I totally know I made the right choice in bringing this one home! It's funny how all the different elements really go together, and will fit so well with so many others. I love it when a plan comes together! Taking my first crack at this sketch, I'm feeling a little pink, I think. Like, Strawberry Slush pink, lol! Been itching to get this cute flamingo out there - now's his chance! After some deliberation, I decided not to go with an all-over background layer, but to allow the white card base to show through quite a bit. This made getting the ribbon on the right layers a bit tricky... Had to play around with "partial glue-downs" and whatnot - whew! And whoever heard of a flamingo without rhinestones? Not gonna happen... Well, time for our last dose of happy (yeah, right!) from this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #0614 - Everything Happy! This time 'round, I decided to still try for a "man" card, but maybe in a different color scheme than the one that came with the kit. It's kind of funny how I chose: I looked at Sahara Sand, one of the kit colors, and then consulted my Color Coach to see what it had to say about new combos for that. It had two different suggestions, and the ones I ended up with were spread between them, lol. THEN I ended up not using Sahara Sand at all! Just goes to show, I suppose, I use my Color Coach weird, I guess! I really really LOVE the flagged layout at this week's Sunday Stamps #78! So many different directions to go! Given that, I freely admit - I went a weird way, lol! Sorry, but my Calling All Heroes photopolymer set just showed up, and I just HAD to use it! It's a great set - even comes in a nice stamp case instead of just a sleeve. The alphabet was a snap - I whipped both my phrases out in no time flat, no SAMJ or anything - sa-WEET! A bit like a new super-hero power, hmm? I indulged a bit of my purple-and-green fetish on this one, I suspect I'll be doing fun color schemes a lot with this one, kinda like I do the chickens, snicker... Oh, this card makes me laugh! Love these little word bubbles in Clean & Simple #295, totally need to up that with In{k}spire Me #151's color challenge! And of course, this color challenge pretty much cries out for the Be the Star stamp set - how not, with July 4 right around the corner? I decided the sort of hand-drawn look of the star stamps would also pair up just right with this other new set: Chalk Lines. I love the pen-and-ink look of it, and it totally helps that this stamp is a rendition of that yummy new DSP I've pretty much used up completely already too, the Moonlight DSP pack. Now I can make more of my own, in any color I want! Wow, this lovely tiled sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #141 and the cool ocean color challenge at Nacho Average Challenge #94 seem made for each other! I of course also had to trot some new goodies, too - yay! This card ended up being a strange blend of old and new, lol, in order to get some "type-y" DSP in the picture... I see so many possibilities for this little typewriter, and the cute little letter keys will be lots of fun, I can tell. I missed Just My Type so much when it retired - glad to have this image back again in a updated form! I should have done this card base in Very Vanilla, but I don't have envelopes in this size that color, so I had to improvise... So, did you see that yummy ribbon? It's the new 1/4" Cotton Ribbon, and it is DREAMY. Rich color, nice weight, not too stiff - I'd say this is my new favorite ribbon! Woo, this week's Merry Monday #113 - Use Pink, White & Silver looks like a tough one to me. Thank goodness they had such awesome inspiration from the design team! One of my new stamp sets that I find utterly fascinating is the funky What's Your Type? set. I decided this would be a good time to take it for a spin, and see what happened. And what happened was gorgeousness! So fun! I of course had to add an extra dimension of challenge by including a heat-embossed silver element to meet today's challenge, but still - love it! I started out making "Merry", (yuk, yuk) but it ended up longer than I wanted for a card. Then I hit on "Ho Ho Ho!" Perfect for a regular card front. I'll have to go back and do something equally fun with the Merry, right now it's bookmarking the catalog page for this set, so I can crib their notes for an alphabet, lol... What's Your Type?
