I added a tiny bit of greenery with my Sprig Punch, but otherwise, fairly uncomplicated, for such a big impact!  Hm, looks like they'll be going on a break for a while, but Inspire Create Challenge #80 has one last inspiration challenge for us before they go - yay! I've decided to treat the inspiration as a sketch - such a cute layout! And I'm super excited to trot out my brand new Dragonfly Garden suite - a sneak preview we get for our upcoming On Stage convention! So fun - Retro Rubber #146 has a "scary color" challenge for us this week - so glad I can go back through my oldies for this one! I finally settled on my fave pumpkins in Fall Fest from 2014. These faces have so much character! I did them up in three different "oranges" and blackened the stems with a marker to stay with the color challenge of Black, White and Orange. They all get to float over a spooky embossed Woodland, and yell out "Boo!" from our Playful Alphabet. I even have a great sentiment on the inside, from the ancient Jack O' Lantern Fun, which I couldn't even FIND on Splitcoast, but says 1999 on the labels - yikes! I love this festive layout at this week's Hand Stamped Sentiments #350! BUT, I'm veering off Christmas today, lol. I just couldn't stop seeing a lovely big sunflower up there, with stems and leaves sprouting from the bottom! I did a standard-sized card, too - I'm such a rebel! I think Im finally starting to hit on the secret to successfully coloring in larger images with blends - go lighter, not darker! This allows much more detail to shine through, and doesn't look all blotchy and over-saturated, as I've produced before, sigh. It kept this sunflower cheer, at least! Now here's a humbling choice, lol - The Library Challenge #70 is giving us our pick of paperbacks this round! I decided to go for Where the Crawdads Sing - great book, and lovely cover! My usual trick of trying to recreate the image into a card was super fun! I used sponge brayers to lay down Calypso Coral and Purple Posy inks for my background, then added a little bit of water interest to the Posy using the High Tide stamp set. The trees were next in Black, from Rooted in Nature, and I finished with this simple layered holiday sentiment from Peace & Joy. At the last second I decided to add a few Calypso sequins, too. No cross-hairs, lol, though I don't think that's actually on the cover! I decided to create my own background by playing with our colors, and topping it all off with the "BOO!" I even had some glitter dots and twine in Garden Green - excellent!
