 This week's Freshly Made Sketch #175 sure is a clean and simple one. I think it will go great with this week's tangy color challenge from Nacho Average Challenge #130! Now, I think my brain must be wired to see these colors as autumnal. Maybe because we don't really get Fall where I live in AZ! I tried a couple things to pull this out of that season, lol, but in the end, this card made me happiest, so there we go. I have to admit, though, I'm excited to get to indulge my "for all seasons" dreams with this stamp set so early! We are all so lucky I don't stamp with this set, Sheltering Tree, every day of the week! This time 'round, I am particularly pleased with how I made my rake "lean" on the tree trunk: I cut down a dimensional for the rake tines, but glued the handle down with a tiny speck of glue. I think it really adds a touch of dimension in a fun way...  I love this week's theme at Merry Monday #147 - Stars! I already have an idea for combining it with Mojo Monday #386, too! With the stars theme going, I of course had to go for my Bright & Beautiful stamp set - just the right elements for this one, lol... I was also feeling purple today, so out came the Blackberry Bliss! Unconventional colors for a Christmas card, I know, but it looks so sparkly with the sequins added - who could resist? I also made a stretch - I realized with my "tall & skinny" dimension (this card is only 3 1/2" wide), I could make that banner run off the right side and it would still fit in a standard envelope - so I went for it! I so hope I can do it justice - square cards are so tough for me! I decided to highlight this yummy DSP from the Painted Blooms set - I love these colorful dots! I also wanted to make my card square smaller than I usually do - I make giant 5 1/4" square because that's the size envelopes I have. THIS time, I'm making my card smaller (4 1/4" square) and creating a matching envelope to go with with the envelope punch board! So pretty! With all this, the card is fairly basic to the sketch - just colorful! I also added a white panel inside since Blackberry Bliss might be too dark for writing on... After all, Pumpkin has always had a lot of love in it, right? After some tinkering, I matched up these elements for a cute and clean look, that still has movement going for it. I love these "any shape" sketches - like this week's Freshly Made Sketch #174! What to use today? Using this lacy shape from our new Petal Potpourri set has been on my mind for a while. Go check out the pretty sample on page 23 of the Occasions catty - what a cool border! I knew I wanted to do white heat-emboss from studying that... So striking! Another happy discovery I made today is that picot edge of the Victoria Lace Trim can interlock when you line up multiple pieces together, giving the appearance of a wider band. Perfect! I really like the delicate look of this card, I think. It's pretty hard to see, but there's a stamped-off background of the lace shape on the blue panel, too. My downline Lisa recently gave me the perfect stamp set for this challenge - somehow she ended up with a duplicate - so I profit! I hadn't used this now retired set yet, either, so Santa's List it is! I decided I wanted to frame the jolly old elf somehow, so I dug out my On Film framelits, too. I can't decide if the colors looks strange or not - I used our Nordic Noel DSP, and these are all in that color suite, but I ended up not choosing a pattern that has all the colors on it! Oops! Anyway, I love how detailed this Santa is - I knew I needed to dress him up so I could show him off, lol... I feel like maybe I've crossed over into some kind of stamper nirvana (except it wasn't about stamping, it was about the Big Shot, but hey - it's all good!) where inspiration just springs eternal. This is me: "That's right, people, I'm so creative I have ideas in my dreams!" Except then I dreamed I had to clear out the guest room of all my stampin', ahem, overflow, because someone was moving in with us (no idea who, of course), and I woke up freaking out, and ran into my craft room to make sure it hadn't really happened.
