Besides a fun "Dude" class in honor of Father's Day, and of course, yummy snacks and loving fellowship, the most exciting thing about tonight's class is that I finally got to hand out our new 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog! As usual, I also made a bookmark sampler of the new In Colors - Yummy! I even like the NAMES this year - Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana! I took the opportunity to showcase one of my favorite suites from the new catty too: Mosaic Madness, along with the Modern Mosaic embossing folder and the Mosaic punch. Stampin' Up! really thought of everything! (Psst! You can find a discount-priced bundle of the stamp set and the punch on page 123! Yay for product bundles!) Here are tonight's class instructions as well - enjoy! I have always LOVED the "inchies" layout - such a fun way to spotlight, or make "puzzle" pieces, or make a dramatic repetitive statement - so versatile! So it was fun to take this week's Paper Craft Crew #44 sketch and make a cute Dad's Day card for my Dad, who "lives in the woods," lol. Very pared down, very clean, very natural - perfect for a nature-focused man card - yay! Be sure to check out the other wonderful samples at Paper Craft Crew #44 this week - so much inspiration! Gently Falling & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Soft Suede & Ivory Natural CS; This and That Epic Day DSP; Crumb Cake, Early Espresso & Gumball Green inks; Linen Thread; 1" Square punch. I'm sorry to say that my poor chickens were looking quite listless after the long school year - now that summer has started, I had to let them out to play! Don't think they like the implication of coming out for Sunday Sketch #50 - sounds like a dinner special to me! Too bad - they better enjoy the air while they can! LOL! Best of Cluck (retired) & Chicken Wire (retired) stamp sets; Real Red, Crushed Curry & Whisper White CS; 1" Circle & 1 1/4" Scallop Circle punches; Honeycomb embossing folder; self-adhesive Rhinestones, colored with Sharpie. Various markers used on chickens: Cajun Craze, Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist. Sigh, we're counting down the final days of the current catalog this week, {SOB}. While I do get to hang on to the two stamp sets I feature today (thank GOODNESS!), I'm feeling a bit weepy over the paper - this whole set was so much fun! I have been using every scrap of it, I swear! How sad is it when your "retired" DSP stash far outweighs your "current" stash? I think I need to do a better job of letting go, maybe research a Paper Hoarders Anonymous support group, or something... Thank you Retro Sketches #65, for letting me showcase my favorite paper this week! Rain or Shine & Wishes Your Way stamp sets; Whisper White, Marina Mist & Lucky Limeade CS; Lucky Limeade & Early Espresso inks; Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP; Brights buttons collection; Lucky Limeade Organdy Ribbon; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; Corner Rounder punch; self-adhesive Rhinestones. Oh gosh - this week's Clean & Simple #242 is just all about mosaics for me! So much fun to play with those shapes! Today, I wanted to play with the new In Colors as well - Baked Brown Sugar is quickly becoming my latest go-to neutral, lol... I am also fascinated by this Coastal Cabana color - and pairing it with ALL our neutrals - love it! It's not too turquoise-y, and not too washed out, just very beachy and tropical without garishness... I tried hard to keep this card pared down - I'm still a bit stressed about that white open field, sigh... Mosaic Madness & Curly Cute stamp sets; Whisper White, Baked Brown Sugar & Coastal Cabana CS & inks; Mosaic punch; self-adhesive Rhinestones. So, I had to pick out which of my fave sketch challenges was the lucky winner this week for the Pumpkin Card - congrats to Freshly Made Sketches #87! The more I think about it, the more I'm jazzed about doing my Paper Pumpkin cards this way - it really shows off the versatility of these kits! And SO many pieces came in this month's kit, I'll definitely be getting more than 4 cards out of it! I was really happy with how today's card came out, as well - this month's Pumpkin is really outside of my usual color and element choices - especially "Freshly-Made" for me, so to speak, lol... A very different style than my usual bents, but one I'm sure will appeal to SOMEONE! Good times (and life!) And don't forget to check out the My Pumpkin Challenge blog - SO many creative ideas for using the kits - out of the box! I post my Pumpkins there, too! May 2013 Paper Pumpkin - "Good Life"; plus, Crumb Cake & Real Red CS; Real Red ink; Red Glimmer Specialty DSP; Full Heart punch; Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (retired) sizzlets; self-adhesive Rhinestones. Looky, looky! At Sunday Stamps #49 this week they posted a color challenge of my favorite colors! They sure know how to get a girl to play along! Yay! I felt like this challenge called for flowers, so out came the "Best of..." set for it. I love that the one new image in that set totally works with one of our scallop punches - no fussy cutting for me today... And it's always fun to "make my own DSP." I don't know why I don't do more of that! Best of Flowers, Fabulous Florets (sentiment) & Curly Cute (inside) stamp sets; Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade & Daffodil Delight inks & CS, plus Whisper White; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; 1 1/4" Scallop Circle punch; Ruffled Ribbon in Lucky Limeade. So, with so many graduating seniors this week in our little gang, I figured we'd push a week for class, and have our first official class of summer! I'm pretty psyched to add another shadow box insert to our collection: here's one for Father's Day! You could make it say something else, too, if you wanted it to be more generic. Like maybe, "Dude!" That would be hiLARious! To go with, we also have two quick but dramatic cards, both designed with the idea of keeping them generically masculine, just in case you don't need a Father's Day card - what do you think? There are numerous images and sentiments to swap out very easily to meet your needs! So, RSVP today for our All About the Guys Class, Thursday, May 30, 630 pm, chez Heroldt; or, if you need a day class, Friday, May 31, 10 am, also chez Heroldt! And just to put another bug in your ear, your gift this month is your brand spankin' new 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog - I have them waiting for you already! Can't wait to see you all! I have been wanting to stamp a big purple Betsy's Blossom ever since I got to sneak peak the new catty (wait til you see!) So, this week's Paper Craft Crew #43 got to indulge me - yay! I always look for some nifty alternative to the sketch elements, and with that doily to change out to some kind of larger round shape, I was all over it... It's also been fun to pull out some old accessories I had for some of returning colors - so glad I get to use some of my Pear Pizzazz ribbons again! Betsy's Blossoms & Oh, Hello stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron & Whisper White CS; Sent With Love DSP; Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz & Early Espresso inks; pleated satin ribbon in Pear Pizzazz. |
