OK, I have to admit, I laughed out loud at the description for As You See It #236's speed challenge this week - "brisk butterflies!" Too funny, and this might be a toughie! OK, speed challenge means I need some shortcuts - gotta have a punch, and some easy inspiring DSP - I can do this! The still-awesome Butterfly Gala with its Butterfly Duo punch is perfect, and I always find the best color inspiration in Playing With Patterns DSP - sold! I gathered everything I thought I would need and started the clock - the time FLEW for this one, lol. Maybe I didn't really need to do three different colors in butterflies, but once I started, reason jumped out the window! Remembering to go back and add the little bug bodies almost did me in, lol! Then I decided that I should include trimming the envelope, too - close! I finished at 9 minutes, 15 seconds. And I'm having heart palpitations, lol. Butterfly Gala Stamp Set; Playing With Pattern DSP; Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry & Purple Posy Inks; Butterfly Duo Punch; Purple Posy Resin Dots; #AYSI236. We have a gorgeous stripey sketch for you this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #480 - feel free to jump in! I couldn't help but wonder if I had some stripes somewhere in DSP collection - what a silly question, of course I did! Since I chose this beautiful holiday pattern from Heartwarming Hugs, I decided to keep it going with a Christmas card, and decided to try out the candles in Sweetest Time. Honestly, this set is all about the fabulous dies, which of course you DON'T see here, but the candles are SO easy to fussy cut, I decided to tighten them up a bit and use them! I did use the dies for my pretty holly clusters, and I achieved my two-tone green by stamping off every time I used my Mossy Meadow - love it! I'm looking forward to checking out YOUR projects! See you at the challenge! Sweetest Time Stamp Set; Heartwarming Hugs DSP; Whisper White & Real Red CS; Real Red, Mossy Meadow & Crushed Curry Inks; Sweetest Borders Dies; Greenery EF; All The Trimmings Embellishments; #TSOT480. Well, of course I have to jump on Time Out Challenge #172's support for breast cancer, what a great idea! I have just the thing! I knew right away I wanted to use this little bra stamp in my ancient Fashion Statements set - from 2005! I think this is one of my oldest sets, lol. Anyway, it comes attached to the phrase "thanks for your support" which didn't quite fit, so I masked that off for this sea of flying bras! Then I put together my own sentiment with our Make a Difference alphabet set - this one has the tiniest letters we have, I think! I finished with a feature bra and a few pink pearls, fun and hopefully spirit-lifting! Fashion Statement (retired 2005) & Make A Difference Stamp Sets; Whisper White & Flirty Flamingo CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Flirty Flamingo Blends Marker; Layering Circles Dies; Pink Pearls; #TOC172. Check out our gorgeous sketch this week at Sunday Stamps #242 - so many fun elements! I just couldn't resist going straight to our gorgeous Cherish the Season set for some pretty bells! This is actually the first Christmas bell set I've ever had, so I'm jingling along pretty hard to make up for lost time, lol. Today, I matched it up with the Trimming the Town DSP pack - I wanted to try this festive background with my Pewter bells. The die inlay on the bells is definitely a pain, but so worth it! I love the finished look! My secret is that I put a piece of washi on the back of each bell to help hold all my little bits in place - made it go much smoother than I thought! I can't wait to see YOUR creations with our sketch this week - meet you at the challenge! Cherish the Season Stamp Set; Trimming the Town DSP; Whisper White, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Poppy Parade & Galvanized Metallic CS; Misty Moonlight Ink; Sounds of the Season, Rectangle Stitched & Stitched Shapes Dies; White Baker's Twine; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; #SSC242. Ooo, I have to admit, I can spot some spooky possibilities on this month's grid at Joy of Sets #022! Instead, I went for the romance, lol. After a bit of browsing, I realized that I just really wanted to use my Serene Silhouettes set - love these images! This one with the umbrella is my favorite, and I kept everything super simple by heat-embossing in black over some pretty DSP. So I went with the diagonal Black - Silhouette - Glitter, and layered everything onto some Black Glimmer paper for the glitter. Simple and pretty - a golden sunset! Serene Silhouettes, Playing With Patterns DSP; Whisper White & Black Glimmer CS; Versamark Ink; Black EP; Black Faceted Dots; #JOSTTT022. OK, a very cool challenge this month at CAS Christmas - Christmas birds! I knew as soon as I saw this challenge that I'd run straight to our gorgeous Dove of Hope set - love these images and dies! My first instinct was to also add in my fave DSP to pair this with - Feels Like Frost was just MADE for this set! But then I got all done, and realized, oh drat! This is a CAS challenge, lol. So I went back and did a nice all white version, though I didn't resist my shiny Clear Epoxy Droplets and Wink of Stella to go with! Hopefully it still passes muster, lol. You can see the fancified one, with the Feels Like Frost DSP, here! Dove of Hope Stamp Set; Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Mossy Meadow & Real Red Blends Makers; Detailed Dove & Tasteful Labels Dies; Clear Epoxy Droplets; Clear Wink of Stella; #CASChristmasBird. So excited to see a new tic-tac-toe at this week's Retro Rubber #145 - some fun choices! I ended up keeping it super simple with the center column - one word - diecut or punch - patterned paper, and I didn't go back very far like I usually do to get it done, too! For some reason, I kept coming back to my Accented Blooms set - even though it only retired earlier this year, it actually came out in our 2018-19 catty. I LOVE the Tailored Tag punch, and one of the sentiments is one word - "hello!" What could that look like floated over some pretty DSP? I went straight to my Playing With Patterns pack and kept simple and stripey, lol. All my grid elements, and a few Epoxy Droplets - it went super fast! Accented Blooms (retired 2020); Playing With Patterns DSP; Whisper White & Night of Navy CS; Night of Navy Ink; Tailored Tag Punch; Tailored Tag Punch; Frosted Epoxy Droplets; #RRCB145. Oh wow, lovely Fall colors in this week's combo at In{k}spire Me # 431! I wasn't sure that I could really pull both sides of this challenge off, til I saw some super FUNKY pumpkins at Trader Joe's on Monday - I swear they really were Mint Macaron pumpkins! Well, probably gourds, but still! Does anyone else go around naming our colors out in public? Lol, it's a fun game. Anyway, I knew I wanted to slip in some Gilded Autumn DSP - that's two colors right there! I just now noticed that the neutral was supposed to have been Vanilla - oops, that would have been easier, lol. As it was, I floated everything over this Cinnamon Cider DSP, and chose a Gilded sheet that didn't show a neutral. The best laid plans, sigh... Gather Together Stamp Set; Gilded Autumn & Cinnamon Cider DSP; Whisper White & Early Espresso CS; Early Espresso Ink; Cinnamon Cider & Mint Macaron Blends Markers; Copper Sequins; #IM431. We have a doozy of a mix-it-up challenge this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #479 - and I think it'll go great with the birthday theme we have going on at SU Only #260, too! Lucky for me, my teamies have amply "rocked" the rocking card, lol, because I'm striking out on that aspect - I'm all over that sketch, though! I decided dramatic DSP was in order, and I recently came across my retired pack of Peaceful Poppies to fit the bill! I loved this paper! I went closely along with the sketch, and also featured my largest birthday sentiment, which happens to be this scripty die - fun! I did add a little stamped sentiment, too, and finished with a few rhinestones - love these flower papers! So, what will YOU create? I can't wait to see your projects, over at the challenges! So Sentimental Stamp Set; Peaceful Poppies DSP; Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Happy Birthday, Circles Collection (retired) & Stitched So Sweetly Dies; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; #TSOT479; #SUOC260. Fusion has a pretty hilarious inspiration pic to go with their sketch this week - check out those farm animal planters! Since I can't help but think how cute those planters would look in my garden, I decided to try for BOTH sides of the challenge today! I turned the sketch on its side, to sort of tighten up where the action is, and dusted off 2015's Barnyard Babies set. This one is a keeper for me for sure because of the little sheep included with it and the "Fleece Navidad" sentiment - never fails to bring a smile to my face, lol. Today I went with a simple birthday sentiment, and stacked the appropriate critters over it - woo hoo! This is a little more white space than I'm used to, so I threw on a few Daffodil Resin Dots. Still pretty darn cute! Barnyard Babies (retired 2015); Whisper White & Granny Apple Green CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Granny Apple Green Inks; Cinnamon Cider, Granny Apple Green, Petal Pink & Daffodil Delight Blends Markers; Tasteful Labels Dies; Daffodil Delight Resin Dots; #FusionOldMcDonald. |
