Class sure was a blast tonight - and we didn't even glue all our fingers together or anything! Yay! Here's a quick shot of the stockings I made for all the ladies - each one personalized with their initial, and holding a little Ghiardeli square. It can double as an extra ornament after all the work we did on the first four! Here are the instructions from tonight's class as well! Let's get merry! And don't miss this new promo - just in time for more holiday treats - Holiday Treat Bundles! Good til January 2!

So, I'm a little stunned to announce that we now have a teenager in the house - how the heck did THAT happen?? I spent a slightly weepy morning reminiscing - as you can see, that included the stamps, too! Then off to we went IKEA to shop for "teenager" furniture! Bye, bye, legos! (Except for the Bat Cave! But that's all, I swear! And maybe Indiana Jones! But no more! And Christmas ones don't even count, really, right?) Here, Kitty Kitty (retired) stamp set; Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse & Summer Starfruit CS; Patio Party DSP; Pool Party seam binding ribbon; tag punches. One of the little perks that I really enjoy about my volunteer work is the opportunity to share gifts and cards with my various boards and groups. I know that some might think it a bit of a chore, but I LOVE having multiple groups that I can give cards to, so I can satisfy my urge to create multiple designs for one holiday. That's why I have a "house" card, and then different cards for each board - it's so awesome to have an outlet for all these cards! Today's card is for my Vestry - I'm pretty sure no one on there reads my blog, so I can share it early to be in time for posting for this week's Retro Sketch #39, hee hee! For some reason this one really threw me for a loop - I've been staring at this sketch for a few days now, and finally got down to business today. I've decided I'm pleased with the result, too! Lovely As A Tree & Our Daily Bread Christmas Verses stamp sets; Whisper White, Early Espresso & Old Olive CS; Northern Flurry (retired) embossing folder; Apothecary Accents framelits; 5/8" Early Espresso satin ribbon; glittered brads, buttons & Early Espresso baker's twine. Yay - no color challenge from Fab Friday #07 this week! I'm so glad that they stagger it - I know they're good for me - I do! But I like sketches, too... I really think they're making me a better card-maker altogether! So, I had previously mentioned how my Scripture box got pretty cleaned out, and the nice open white field in this sketch was a perfect space to go for a dramatic verse block. Some of the sketches don't have the right dimensions for an out-sized sentiment, so I try to keep my eyes peeled for that opportunity. This one fit the bill! Even the layout direction was going the right way! Christmas Verses from Our Daily Bread; Lucky Limeade, Early Espresso & Very Vanilla CS; Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP; 1/8" Taffeta ribbon in Real Red; Vintage Faceted button. I don't know what it is about these snowflake mugs, but I have visions of them dancing all over the place, spreading cocoa-scented cheer all over the place! I can't seem to stop trotting them out - maybe it's because they come with an awesome framelit that makes it a snap to cut out! So, this week's Clean & Simple #218 was giving off an "I need cocoa" vibe to me! It was fun to play with some retro holiday colors, too - I used the Festival of Prints stack for inspiration - yum! Scentsational Season & Bright Christmas (retired) stamp sets; Holiday Collection framelits; Crumb Cake, Island Indigo & Whisper White CS; Lucky Limeade, Crumb Cake, Island Indigo & Raspberry Ripple inks; linen thread; self-adhesive rhinestones. I have used the sentiment from this stamp set "Bells & Boughs" a LOT, (LOVE the vintagey font!) but I tend to blow past the rest of the stamps in there, which really is a shame. When Freshly Made Sketches #62 showed up this week, I decided to try the pines and poinsettias image for a different focal shape. It didn't hurt to have a big fat coloring opportunity either! Is it possible that there's anyone left in the world who doesn't know how much I LOVE my markers? Doing my best to make sure there's no one left out! Bells & Boughs stamp set; Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade & Real Red CS; Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP; Snow Burst embossing folder; 1/8" Early Espresso taffeta ribbon; Keytag (retired) , Decorative Label & Corner Rounder punches. How did this happen??? I can't seem to stay away from the recently discovered Paper Craft Crew Challenges! This one is for their #17 - figured since the Christmas decorations go up this weekend, I better get my autumnal fixation out of my system! I'm not entirely happy with all the "Vanilla" space on this one, but it's also kind of nice to see it all clean. I keep going back and forth. I did a little embossing on the background to make myself feel better about it! Day of Gratitude stamp set; River Rock, Always Artichoke & Very Vanilla CS; Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze & Early Espresso inks; Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon; Antique brad; self-adhesive pearl; Elegant Lines embossing folder. So, here are some samples of the 4 ornaments we will be doing in next week's "Holiday Ornaments" class! I wanted to do a mix of simple and ornate, quick and a bit of time, and 4 very different styles, as well as show off some of the awesome Holiday tools from the catty before we move along to Spring! I think we've achieved that! We'll talk about ways to adapt these ornaments to any color arrangements you like, how to use stamping instead of DSP for even more POP and how to go from here to making the lovely creations on the front and inside the Holiday Mini catalog! I promise that you'll be happy with your results (though you might have slightly sticky fingers here and there!) Glue guns will be a must for this class, so make sure to bring one you're comfortable with! Everything else will be supplied, along with yummy treats, of course! Class is on Thursday, Nov 29, 630 pm, my house, and will cost $20. As always, make sure to RSVP, so I can be sure to prep enough! (And don't forget to save the date for Dec 13, the last class of the year for 6 "Cute & Quick Gifts!") I was feeling the need to break out of the Christmas colors for this week's Retro Sketch #38 - I NEED SOME PURPLE! I was embarrassed to realize that this stamp set somehow made it to the shelf without seeing any ink yet, either - woops! Can't have that! It was a fun morning playing with my markers, too! Have I mentioned how much I LOVE color?? For the Birds & Bright Blossoms stamp sets; Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White CS; Summer Smooches DSP; Brights button; Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon. This week's Clean & Simple #217 seemed just right for a dramatic backdrop to a simple scripture block - scripture cards were the runaway favorite at the craft show this year, so I have some work ahead of me to restock! As I looked over my card stash this morning, I felt like I needed some more reds, and poor little Riding Hood agreed! Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 5 & Gently Falling stamp sets; Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso & Soft Suede CS; Gold Glimmer Specialty paper; some retired DSP scrap from Valentine's like 4 years ago; Early Espresso, More Mustard & Cajun Craze inks; Scallop Trim Border punch; Chevron embossing folder. |
