This week's Retro Sketch #52 is a BIG deal - must be their one year anniversary! To celebrate, we got to pick out any sketch we wanted to use - OOooOO! I originally thought I might make a play on that big ole question mark as a joke, but then I started digging through the sketches and went all the way back to #9 (before my time!) - perfect for the stamp I wanted to use today... I just rolled over the hall table from Valentine's to St. Patrick's, and you know what? I just don't have that many "green" cards! Well, I can fix that! On top of THAT, I'm already starting to experience some anxiety about Lucky Limeade retiring for the new catty in June - not sure I can live without it! Of course, I felt the same way about Kiwi Kiss last round... Lucky Day stamp set; Lucky Limeade & Whisper White CS; Gold Shimmer Specialty DSP; Lacy Brocade embossing folder; self-adhesive Rhinestones, Gold embossed; Lucky Limeade 1/4" organdy ribbon; Corner Rounder punch.

Finally, I get to use my That's The Ticket stamp set, for Paper Craft Crew's #31 - yay! I loved this week's sketch, so simple and easy to dress up, or not, as desired! This is your ticket to party! Make sure to go check out the other designers' work, too - you'll be blown away! That's The Ticket & Best of Birthdays stamp sets; Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo & Rich Razzleberry inks; Sycamore Street satin ribbon in Island Indigo; Ticket Duo punch; self-adhesive rhinestones. So, I haven't gotten to play with the whales enough lately, I decided. And did you know that the nifty little Clearlit (My first one! You can SEE through them!) that goes with it has all these fun shapes on it, too, that aren't in the stamp set? Like this happy little fishy, for example. I see lots of anchor accessories in my future! Good thing Clean & Simple #229 gives me more chances to play with my toys - whales get bored too, you know. Oh, Whale! stamp set; Whisper White, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler & Soft Sky (retired) CS; Marina Mist ink; Happy Whale clearlit; Fancy Flower, Owl Builder & 1 1/2" Circle punches. This morning, my friend Kathya Hidalgo asked me to give a blog she designs for a try, called Sunday Stamps - and wouldn't you know it, it's a color challenge! I DO know I need to do more of these, and Kathya was the hostess for the first card challenge I did - for the Phoenix Regionals last year. Remember how that turned out? EEEeeeEEE! How could I not rise to her challenge again?? When I saw the colors I saw cool summer dresses, and lo, they appeared! So easy with the framelit set for this - yay! Thanks for the new challenge blog Kathya - I'm in! All Dressed Up & Carry On stamps sets; Basic Black, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White CS; Floral District DSP; Dressed Up framelits; Delicate Designs embossing folder; Corner Rounder punch; Daffodil Delight stitched grosgrain; Flower trim. I knew when I saw this week's Freshly Made Sketch # 74 that I wanted to use my beautiful new Swallowtail stamp - it was crying out to be colored! Otherwise, I wanted to keep it simple, and natural. Then I realized that this stamp reminded me of a phrase from a retired stamp set that would pair perfectly. Too funny that that set has a smaller version of another beautiful butterfly - just right for the envelope. This is my reminder to myself - so much beauty was created by Another's hand, all for us to share with Him. Amazing. Swallowtail & God's Beauty (retired) stamp sets; Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Black Staz On; So Saffron, More Mustard, Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, Early Espresso & Garden Green inks; Corner Rounder punch. For today's starting point, I browsed through my "new to me" pile of stamps - having stamps that are "ink virgins" is a capital crime around here! Using a Fab Friday #12's color challenge made it even more interesting - how to make a color challenge NOT look like a color challenge? That's my newest strategy on these! I've been wanting to ink up these elegant feathers ever since last year's Phoenix Regional - I saw some really cute projects with them that I totally fell in love with, then let fall by the wayside. So having a challenge to make me forge my own territory was just right! En Francais, Morning Post Alphabet & Fine Feathers stamp sets; Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi & Very Vanilla CS; Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon; self-adhesive pearls. What a fun night! So nice to visit and chat it up! Who knew St. Patrick was such a party animal? Good thing we had some cute treats to keep us going, like these Shamrock Kisses by Brenda Quintana - her creativity always amazes me! They were so fun and quick to make! Our yummy Berry Chocolate Krispy Treats were a recipe from the fabulous Our Best Bites, of course, I've been waiting all month to try those strawberry marshmallows! One last little shot in the arm of Valentine's goodies! And my first taste of "elevated" rice crispy treats - yum! And here are tonight's Spring Shadow Boxes class instructions - enjoy! See you next month! Boy, I wasn't sure I was going to get through Paper Craft Crew #30 this week - it's SO structured! It took me all day just to even figure out a direction, and even that wasn't very clear to me when I finally settled down to work! I think I was so wigged out by all the layers that I finally just wanted to rebel and throw every color I have at this one! My usual strategy of picking out a couple key elements just didn't wind up where I thought it would! Best of Birthdays & Patterned Occasions stamp sets; Summer Smooches DSP; Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Real Red & Tempting Turquoise CS; Ovals Collection framelits, Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon; self-adhesive rhinestones. Continuing my trend of breaking in more new stamps, for Retro Sketch #51, I decided to add trying new colors to the mix! This is quite a challenge for me, as I didn't really take to this year's new In Colors that much. Not like last year's, anyway, lol! I will say, Gumball Green MIGHT be starting to grow on me. Just a little! Moving Forward & Itty Bitties stamps sets; Print Poetry DSP Stack; Very Vanilla, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse CS; Itty Bitty punch pack; self-adhesive pearls. So, I still have a ways to go on replenishing my "Scripture" card box - I've been raided a few times recently! Fortunately, Freshly Made Sketch #73 gave me a nice big field to work with for an over-sized sentiment! I wonder sometimes what draws me to a particular quote to highlight, and a person to that card when they browse my boxes... While I've been making this card today, I've been thinking about how often it happens that sometimes, a phrase will just leap out at me, that's just so right for my situation that day - it really makes me happy when these cards speak to folks, and to imagine it leaping out to them as well... Madison Avenue & Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 3 stamp sets; Print Poetry DSP Stack; Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Raspberry Ripple & Old Olive CS; 1/4" grosgrain in Perfect Plum; Designer Build A Brads; Little Leaves sizzlet; Delicate Designs embossing folder. |
