I'm so delighted to see this challenge from Can You Handle the Pressure - snow! For my papers, I knew I wanted to pull in my favorite sheet from the Storybook Gnomes DSP pack - love all these blues! I floated an embossed panel in silver with one of the Wintry dies - love all the movement on the snow one, lol. I went back to the shelves of retirement for my stamps! Alpine Adventure from 2018 is still a favorite, and I figured the sled was just right for the snow! I dressed it up with my Woodgrain background stamp from way back in 2010! I'm so happy with all my snow elements! Alpine Adventure (retired 2018) & Woodgrain (retired 2010) Stamp Sets; Storybook Gnomes DSP; Basic White, Pool Party, Silver Foil & Crumb Cake CS; Early Espresso Ink; Crumb Cake Blends Markers; Wintry 2 EF; Rhinestones Waves Basic Jewels; Linen Thread; #CYHTPSnow.

So cool - I found another new-to-me challenge called Daring Cardmakers - what a great name! They have a one-word prompt running - "believe!" This prompt makes me think right away of Santa, lol, and in particular, the famous line from Miracle on 34th Street! We always watch this movie on Thanksgiving, when they show it after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, because, well, the historic parade is IN the movie, lol. Our retired Christmas Means More set from 2020 even has the quote - you know I had to pull that out! I matched it with my favorite vintage and realistic Santa, the Santa's List set from 2013. An oldie and still goodie! I kept it simple, and Santa front and center - you better watch out! Santa's List (retired 2013) & Christmas Means More (retired 2020) Stamp Sets; Basic White, Real Red & Basic Black CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Versamark Inks; White EP; Real Red, Crumb Cake & SU700 Blends Markers; Deckled Rectangle Dies; Wonderful Gems; #DCMBelieve. CAS on Friday #247 has a Christmas challenge this round - never to early to start restocking the Christmas box, lol! I decided to frame up this little caroling mouse with my Stitched With Whimsy dies - I don't remember to sue them too often! They make a great faux-layer when working on CAS cards! Anyway, I floated my mouse over the pretty light pole, and did this little carol phrase from Vintage Christmas for a sentiment. Simple, but sweet, I think! Caroling Mice & Vintage Christmas Stamp Sets; Basic White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Smoky Slate, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Petal Pink & Granny Apple Green Blends Markers; Stitched With Whimsy Dies; #CASOF247. So excited, I actually have time to sneak in for In{k}spire Me #495 - they want to see a decoration, and I have just the thing! One of the things I like to do at the end of my big hurrah of Christmas card season is play around with all my scraps. I always figure I have to make room for the new papers coming my way! This year, I seemed to have LOTS of 1" strips in my scraps, and I remembered a project I did for our wedding 23 years ago. I had found a kit for these paper stars by Martha Stewart - yes, before my SU! days, lol. I made a zillion of them in all sizes and we hung them on a pretty tree the florist made for the reception. ANYWAY, could I figure out how to make them again? Could I make them BIGGER? Of course I could! Turns out they're called Moravian Stars, and I found a great little tutorial here that refreshed my memory. I think I'm already making next year's neighborhood gifts - and having so much fun doing it! Such a cool look with our two-sided DSP! Some I'll hang in singles, but I'm thinking about making some chains of smaller ones, too! Papers used: Celebrate Everything, Painted Christmas & Sweetest Christmas DSP. Pumpkin Club Dec 31! No, it's not a Santa emergency, Shopping Our Stash #486 has a present challenge, too! Time to dig deep, lol... After a nice long browse on the shelves of retirement, I finally spotted my beloved So Santa set from 2018. Scooter Santa has a nice big bag of presents slung from his back! Whew! I put together a simple layout, and showed Santa popping a little wheelie, leaving this cute sentiment behind! I like how swapping the image and the sentiment almost adds movement to this one! So Santa Stamp Set (retired 2018); Sweetest Christmas DSP; Basic White & Basic Black CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Real Red, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Gray Granite, Crumb Cake; Sweet Sorbet & SU700 Blends Markers; Wonderful Gems; #SOS486. This will be fun - with so many challenges on break, I get to look around at some new ones for me! Today I landed on AAA Birthday #44, who would like to see embossing! I'm usually all about the embossing folders, but today I decided to run with some heat embossing! I really wanted to give Framed Florets a go - there are some gorgeous birthday sentiments in this one, and I haven't really inked up any of the floral images yet! I was all over the special release holiday set that we were offered to preview, lol, but these lovely blossoms cried out to be embossed in gold! I love how they came out, and I coordinated them with paper from the Splendid Day pack. Fresh Freesia has really become my most-used color from this set! Framed Florets Stamp Set; Splendid Day DSP; Basic White CS; Versamark Ink; Gold EP; Soft Sea Foam & Fresh Freesia Blends Markers; Framed Floret Dies; Fresh Freesia Opal Rounds; #AAAB44. This week's challenge at Make My Monday #190 is gifts - stamped OR created! Perfect timing! I decided right away I wanted to do STAMPED gifts - my gifts are ready to go already, lol. The catch is, I really don't have any great stamps for gifts! How does this happen?? I finally spotted this cute stack in our upcoming Warm Welcome set, so I grabbed those. Since I wanted to do DSP accents in Sweetest Christmas DSP (who doesn't love candy cane paper?) I grabbed the Sweet Candy Canes set as well. I stamped a few present stacks and raided my scraps to come up with this quick landscape layout. A few Sweet Sorbet accents, and we are done! Sweet Candy Canes & Warm Welcome Stamp Sets; Sweetest Christmas DSP; Basic White & Sweet Sorbet CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Real Red, Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo & Sweet Sorbet Blends Markers; Garden Green Stamp-n-Write Marker; Sweet Sorbet Baker's Twine; Sweet Sorbet Matte Dots; #MMM180. Here's a lovely challenge to close out the year - The Sisterhood of Crafters would like to see something in traditional Christmas colors - red and green! Another set I'm super sad to see retire is the gorgeous and versatile Spruced Up bundle. I can't believe how many times I pulled this one out! Love the trees, lol. Anyway, I decided to use an ornament that I haven't even inked up yet this time, and I did one each in Real Red and Old Olive. I added the star accents when I spotted it in the dies, lol. I floated them over a panel of embossed Whimsical Trees, and finished with a last few details - quick and cute! Spruced Up Stamp Set; Basic White, Silver Foil & Old Olive CS; Real Red & Old Olive Inks; Spruced Up Outlines Dies; Whimsical Trees EF; Black Baker's Twine; Wonderful Gems; #TSOCRedandGreen. Oo, this will be fun - Cardz 4 Guyz #311 wants to see something starting with "O!" I had a couple ideas when I started (oo, how about "oars," lol) but I wanted to do a browse first. When I spotted the gorgeous Olive Branch, I knew that was the one! I have so NOT been using this set enough! For today's card, I went with the larger branch - I've only used the small one so far. I inked up with markers, and had to do a lot of "huffing" to make sure it was still juicy, lol. My green came out fainter then I expected, but I still like it! A simple sympathy to add to my stash... Olive Branch Stamp Set; Basic White & Blackberry Bliss CS; Blackberry Bliss Ink; Old Olive & Blackberry Bliss Stamp-n-Write Markers; Stitched Shapes Dies (retired); Old Olive Matte Dots; #C4G311. |
