 We have a sophisticated color challenge over at CAS-ual Friday #213 this week - shades of gold! Today I started thinking about how amazing heat embossing looks against dark cardstock, so I decided to go for gold-on-black, and the thought of these gorgeous leaf images all picked out in gold was just too enticing. So dramatic, I think! I did a simple sentiment over it all and finished with a few gold pearls. I think this could serve as a quiet sympathy card, too, now that I look at it.  Fusion Card Challenge has a great playful combo for us this week: a super cute sketch and this wonderful "Christmas chair!" So lovely! I hunted in vain for a pretty easy chair to use from the inspiration pic, so I settled for being inspired by the colors and the season in the sketch, lol. I was excited for another chance to pull out my season's fave Making Christmas Bright set, too - I so love these cheery little bulbs! I used the light strand to make my horizontal elements, and added a few Stitched Circles to carry my twinkly bulbs - good times! My eye was really drawn to the upper left corner of the inspiration pic - my Grandmother was a huge poinsettia fan - all colors! She would keep them all year and force the colors herself with a mysterious and complicated lighting schedule involving her walk-in closet, lol. I've never been able to do it myself, but I can't see them and not think of her! I think she would have loved this card! WOWZA! Retro Rubber #100 is celebrating a huge milestone this week, with a fun tic-tac-toe challenge to boot! Time to celebrate! I finally settled on the far right column of the challenge: metallics, diecut or punch, and cake. I think 2008's Crazy for Cupcakes fits the bill perfectly! Once I had the stamp set down, I dug my Picture Perfect Party DSP pack out too - love the colors in this one, and maybe I even snuck in an extra square for confetti, lol. I chose the large cupcake image with the curving sentiment over it, and cut it all out with my beloved Stitched Shapes framelits. For my metallic touches, I painted the candle flame with my Vegas Gold shimmer ink, and added some gold pearls to the cupcake for sprinkles. Yummy and cute - awesome! Happy Birthday, Retro Rubber! With those pretty stripes I went straight to my paper stash for something pretty - and Frosted Floral DSP wins that one hands down, lol. I pulled out my two fave petals pages, and did some columns mixed with Soft Sea Foam - loving THAT color a lot, too! For my sentiment, I pulled out Another Wonderful Year, which has this gorgeous hand-lettered-looking Thank You. Here's a fun one - CAS on Friday #146 wants us to use washi tape this week - cool! So, I actually don't use washi tape that much, but somehow, I do seem to accumulate it, lol. I went to my washi drawer and pulled out a few likely rolls: copper foil, white glitter and silver stars. Hm, seems like the makings of a fun sparkly copper card! So out came Beautiful Baubles, and we were off! I laid on a washi diagonal that had mostly copper, then poured on additional copper details. I'm actually pretty happy with this one - I don't heat-emboss that often either, lol. CASOF is just yanking me right our of my comfort zone! My knowledge of this book, I'm embarrassed to say, is limited to the movies - something actually more on the rare side for me! I've watched and adored the first two, and I have the third one with the baby in it in my queue downstairs right now, lol. The first one is SUCH a fun Christmas movie, lol.
