 Ca-UTE! This week's Merry Monday #143 is to use carollers or music in some way - look how cute the graphic is! I had to dig deep to find something to use for this challenge, I freely admit. I finally unearthed this beauty, Rejoicing With You - I love this angel and her trumpet! She just cries out to be heat-embossed in gold, and I also found some music paper sheets in my retired DSP stash to go with. Mission accomplished!  Oo, challenging layers at this week's Retro Sketches #150! And on a square card, too! I have an idea for faking that part... Ta da! A sort of square card! This one was fun! It was great, too, to finally use the stamp I got this set for - this little balloon has been calling me and calling me, lol... I snuck in a roque item (shh) but I just can't resist this plumpy cloud shape, but I feel so guilty about it I almost never use it. Go figure! What a cool challenge over at SU-per Challenge #73 this week! The trick for this one is to CASE in some way the finished card they show - layout, colors, stamp set - what have you. Neato! I dithered a little bit trying to decide on a direction here. I wanted it to be a noticeable CASE, with a notable difference. Finally I landed on coloring heat-embossing with my blendies. I LOVE this effect! You can show gradation so finely this way, and this Flower Patch stamp set has several stamps that lend itself really well to it, too. What a match! So I even CASE'd the layout, too, kinda, though I changed out the sentiment. The colors are so vibrant in person, I hope you can tell from the picture... We're still getting ready over at My Pumpkin Challenge #0115 - and I really want to do some reminiscing for this one! So, I went diving into my Pumpkin bag - who knew I had so many cool odds and ends still in there?! I tried to triage by looking at color families first, and after much angst, this is where I landed. I shamelessly cannibalized EVERYTHING from so many kits. My only outside additions are the tiny Crushed Curry button on the flowers, created with one little flower framelit from the Flower Fair collection. In the end, I'm SO happy with this card! I loved these sentiments... It's so odd to realize how long I've been in the pumpkin patch - incredible! So show us your pumpkin babies! Let's see how ready you are! Even with all that wiggle room, I had to take some liberties with sizes here, because, well, I HAD to use my over-the-top cute Happy Easter Bunny stamp. Look, he's dancing! And his favorite color is Calypso Coral! Oh, bunny... So, this stamp seemed like natural fit with our gorgeous Sale-A-Bration DSP Best Year Ever, and its yummy ribbon. Wow, I really like this week's card sketch over at Create With Connie & Mary #339 - check out the cool stripes behind the floating panel! What a chance for DSP scraps to shine! Since I was feeling kinda purple today (hee hee) I decided to mine my awesome Sweet Taffy DSP for scraps for this card. I love this DSP - so bright and cheery! Such a fun mix of patterns! It's perfect for this challenge, as is our awesome new Balloon Bash stamp set. I went for a sentiment I haven't used yet, (#yourewelcome) but still had fun doing a bit of piecing. A few bright buttons, and woo - we're set! I always think, OK, what's the craziest "any shape" I can come up with?! It didn't take me long to decide that I am FAR from done playing with my burly bearded lumberjack, lol... After I got done coloring and assembling, I was reminded of cutting firewood back in Virgina. Don't tell hubby, but the boyfriends that contributed more got to stick around longest, giggle... We're supposed to use houses on our cards - so glad we got the perfect stamp set for that this year! I've had a lovely afternoon painting houses - so fun when the houses are only 1 1/2" tall, lol! It was very pleasant, reminiscing about the cute little Civil War town I grew up in, Harper's Ferry. These aren't actually Civil War-era style houses much, but the colors really remind me of holidays there, and the decor - the pine ropes, and fruit sculptures - we really did it up! And when it snowed, it was like living inside a gingerbread village! I can smell the mulled cider now, ahhh... Good times! I think we should have a live tree here next year... I love the idea of this week's Can You Case It #53 - clean and quick, no fuss no muss - but only 10 minutes?! Assembling my materials doesn't count, right? I'm adding in Sunday Stamps #93 color challenge to help me cut down on the decision-making, lol! So here's what I ended up with! I've been dying to ink up my new Sheltering Tree set, and the color challenge gave me the minimum colors I felt I needed to do a tree, even a fanciful Valentine tree, lol... So, two layers - check! Crumb Cake, Real Red, Whisper White plus a neutral - check! At least one embellie - check-check!! 10 minutes or less - woo hoo super check - 8 and a half minutes flat! Mission accomplished! What do you think of the cattywhompus layers? Been seeing those around lately and wanted to try it...
