I can't believe it's our final challenge of the year at Fab Friday #79! How appropriate to go out on such a festive color challenge, too, lol! Looks like Stamp Ink Paper #26's sketch will give me plenty of ideas for it, too! Buuut, the temptation to play with a few new goodies is just too much for me - no Christmas today, lol! We're sneak-peeking it, gang! For the stamps, I used one of our awesome new Sale-A-Bration sets, Botanicals for You. It's awfully handy how well it goes with the Botanical Blooms set in the Spring Mini (hint, hint!) So well that it goes great with that set's matching Botanical Builder framelits, too! So fun! Excited for January 5th yet? I can't wait to see YOUR creations over at Fab Friday - bring it on! Botanicals for You Stamp Set; English Garden & Real Red Scrap DSP; Pool Party, Mossy Meadow, Real Red CS; Mossy Meadow & Real Red Ink; Botanical Builder Framelits; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Banner Punch; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Gotta love this week's Merry Monday #183 - to use candy canes! I think I can do that with Nacho Average Challenge #171's fun sketch, too! So, obviously, I decided to throw that banner shape in the sketch out the window right away, lol. Why use a banner when you can use candy canes?? That's what I'm talkin' about! I did stick to the circle shape, since it let me use my favorite sentiment from Among the Branches - I love the thought, and I love the font, too. Except for piecing my canes from my old Stocking Accents die, this was pretty straight-forward - it was fun to make the canes longer to match the sketch, too! (Yes, I snuck in the cane from Snow Place for the envelope!) Among the Branches & Snow Place Stamp Sets; Whisper White & Cherry Cobbler CS; Silver Glimmer Paper; Cherry Cobbler Ink; Originals Stocking Accents Die (retired); Circles Collection Framelits; 2" Circle, Curvy Corner Trio & PL Corner Rounder Punches; Softly Falling Embossing Folder. I can't believe we're already to Week 2 of My Pumpkin Challenge #1215 - Season of Giving! What to do? That's actually a less-than-rhetorical question for me on this kit! As has happened for ALL our holiday pumpkins, I love this kit AS IS! I almost hate to use the supplies for going off the reservation - what if I can't make the kit cards, too? I'm already well into my second kit here! Anyway, I knew I wanted to focus on those gorgeous envelopes this time - I can't let that stash of "secret DSP" get away! I decided to try out my Festive Flower Builder punch on it, and add a few extra details. I LOVE how this came out! I even got a few leaves out of the corners of the holly die-cuts! I hope this inspires you to come join us - share your gorgeous creations over at the challenge - we can't wait to see them! Mistletoe & Holly Paper Pumpkin; plus, Silver Glimmer CS; Versamark Ink; Silver Embossing Powder; Festive Flower Builder & 1" Circle Punches; Petals-A-Plenty (retired) Embossing Folder. (As always, if you need a different time, just let me know and we'll find something that works for you!) See you soon! I LOVE tag sketches, like this beauty from Can You Case It #98! I can't wait to try it in the cool colors from Sunday Stamps #115! A moment's thought and I realized that these colors could really lend themselves to my cute little snow people from the awesome Snow Place set - eek! Of course, like a loon, I totally forgot about the awesome framelits that go with this set and sat and gleefully fussy cut all my little pieces - argh! Right around the end of the top hat (yes, I did that last!) I thought, "Wait! You goober! You have framelits for this!!" Ah well, I guess it's just as well that I'm one of those weirdos that actually ENJOYS fussy cutting, lol... Snow Place Stamp Set; Whisper White, Pool Party & Bermuda Bay CS; Basic Black Archival, Basic Gray Archival, Pool Party & Bermuda Bay Inks; Softly Falling Embossing Folder; Scallop Tag Topper, Curvy Corner Trio, Banner & PL Corner Rounder Punches; Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim; Silver Thread; 1/8" Taffeta in Bermuda Bay; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. This is a fun "sideways" sketch from Retro Sketch #193! I'll try to make it even cuter with TGIF #32's color challenge! The first thing I did was browse my DSP collection for pieces that could work. I found just a FEW Real Red bits in my retired Santa & Co. collection - whew! That let me work from a Pool Party base, with white layers on top that I could decorate in Pool Party embossing powder. How not to go snowflakes at that point? So much fun to assemble all these pieces, so of course, I had to pick my sentiment from the Oh, What Fun stamp set, lol. Flurry of Wishes & Oh, What Fun Stamp Sets; Santa & Co. DSP (retired): Pool Party & Whisper White CS; Silver Foil Paper; Versamark & Real Red Inks; Pool Party Embossing Powder; Softly Falling Embossing Folder; Snow Flurry, Curvy Corner Trio & Banner Triple Punches; Subtles Buttons in Pool Party; Real Red Striped 1/8" Ribbon; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. OK, the challenge at Just Add Ink #291 this week is SO cool! Add a "C" to your card! Love it! I think I'll combine it with In{k}spire Me #227's "glamour advent," hm... It seems a natural fit to use Christ for my "C" element, don't you think? The truth is that while we hold Him in our hearts year-round, He seems especially close this time of year, right? Best birthday party ever, lol! When I chose Every Blessing to use for this one, I didn't really think about how I'd feel pulled AWAY from "blinging it up," though - I really had to force myself to add the sparkle! Every Blessing Stamp Set; Mossy Meadow, Whisper White & Crumb Cake CS; Silver Glimmer Paper; Basic Black Archival Ink; Vintage Faceted Buttons; Silver Cording Trim; Silver Thread; Metallics Sequins. This is SUCH a cute sketch at Freshly Made Sketch #215! And I have Create With Connie & Mary #384's colors to dress it up! I decided to go simple and quick here - 10 minute card alert! So easy to do with our awesome DSP on hand, I will say... I feel like so many of my holiday cards have been "red-focused" lately, not sure why I think that, but I wanted to try to make a "green-focused" card this time, at least, lol. I'm still very in love with the fun sentiments in Oh, What Fun, too - can you tell? Oh, What Fun Stamp Set; Merry Moments DSP; Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler & Smoky Slate CS; Cherry Cobbler Ink; Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon; Metallics Sequins; Banner Triple Punch. What a cute challenge from this week's Merry Monday #182 - to use birds! What can I do? Besides pair it with Nacho Average Challenge #170's cute colors, I mean! We do have a few bird choices this year: cardinals, doves - there's even a wren over on my shelves who'd love to see more ink! But then, I was hunting through my Room of Retirement looking at shapes for something else, and my sweet For the Birds just popped right out at me. I so loved this little skater! He's the whole reason (besides the mailbox, lol) this set made it to the RoR to begin with! I filled in my colors with the help of our yummy Season of Cheer DSP, and kept it simple. Birds in hats? Oh yeah, I'm SO there. For the Birds (retired) Stamp Set; Season of Cheer DSP; Soft Sky, Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler & Whisper White CS; Basic Black Archival, Cherry Cobbler & Mossy Meadow Inks (OK, and a tiny dot of Crushed Curry for his nib!); Ovals Collection Framelits; Occasions Piercing Template (retired); Softly Falling Embossing Folder; Banner Triple Punch; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Super fun layout at this week's Retro Sketch #192 - can't wait to try combining it with the inspiration at Can You Case It #97! So I picked out colors from the inspiration - my big chance to finally use my red foil sheets! But I can't stop there, oh no, lol. Have you ever had an idea that didn't come out just how you thought it should, so you just kept tweaking and fussing? Story of my life today! I'm so happy with my final results, though - yay! And yes, I really did run a fancy gold ornament JUST for those tiny little pieces to fill in, and YES, it was a total pain, lol. I love my job! Embellished Ornaments Stamp Set; Whisper White & Real Red CS; Red and Gold Foil Specialty CS; Holidays Fancy Foil Vellum; Real Red Ink; 2" Circle Punch; Delicate Ornaments Thinlets; Holiday Ornaments Framelits (retired); Real Red Striped 1/8" Ribbon; Brights Sequins. I'm so excited to open the Season of Giving at this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #1215! Isn't this kit the greatest?? I love all the little details they gave us to play with! That said, it was a little overwhelming to have so much to choose from, lol. I decided to go fairly pared down, but, you know, in GOLD! I also embossed a few holly bunches on Old Olive to add a tiny touch of greenery, with little spots of color using the awesome Cherry Cobbler embellishments from the kit! Love it! So, how's your pumpkin liking the season? We can't wait to see you and your creations over at the challenge - see you soon! Mistletoe & Holly Paper Pumpkin; plus, Old Olive CS; Versamark Ink; Gold Embossing Powder. |
