Yay! Still Getting Ready over at My Pumpkin Challenge #0115! I decided this week my pumpkin readiness needed a little "mojo," too, so I've paired up with Mojo Monday's #381 sketch! One of our unofficial goals with this month's Pumpkin Challenge is to also try to use some of any "remainders" we might have from past kits - anyone else fully stocked up on those, lol?? I might need to organize a grab bag giveaway for all of mine! Anyway, that made me go back for a quick browse of the "Pumpkin Scrap Bag," and I came out with some fun fun items that reminded me why I can't throw anything away! It also made it so that this card is stamping free - gasp! So let's see your little pumpkin soldiers lining up - are YOU ready? Paper Pumpkin Kits: All Shook Up (Dec 14), Glittered Greetings (Mar 14) & Real Life Journal (Dec 13); plus, Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding & Bermuda Bay CS; Circles Collection Framelits; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder. Fancy, fancy! Check out the cute sketch at this week's Retro Sketch #149! Now to make it sing with In{k}spire Me #181's sleek and modern color challenge! This color challenge made me think of my bug - she is SO not a girlie-girl, and this color scheme could be right up her alley. Anyway, it's hard to be a high school freshman, you know? She has made the transition with so much poise, I have to say. I am dumbfounded by how hard she works at staying on top of her school-work: she really wants to go to college over seas, so she enrolled in our International Baccalaureate program - it's a real back-breaker! She is really sustaining her commitment, too - I'd never be able to keep up the workload myself... So I decided a little encouragement card would be good to have on hand, to let her know how proud I am of her! I actually have the phrase "so proud of you" stamped inside as well, pieced together from the Crazy About You set. I have a feeling I'll be handing this over shortly - coming back from the Winter Break has been daunting, lol... Adventure Awaits & Crazy About You Stamp Sets; Smoky Slate, Whisper White & Basic Gray CS; Basic Gray Ink; Lucky Stars Embossing Folder; Ovals Collection Framelits; Occasions Piercing Template; White Tea Lace Doily; Neutrals Button in Smoky Slate; White Baker's Twine; Candu Dots in Smoky Slate; Moonlight DSP Pack on envelope. So glad I have Create With Connie & Mary's #338 color challenge to help me with it! I decided to pull out a set I haven't used in quite a while, and since this is time of year I start to have little twinges of "retirement anxiety," you might see this happen a bit more often! This time Tap Tap Tap gets some love! So fun to do it in these fresh and happy colors - I WISH I had a Bermuda Bay typewriter! Tap Tap Tap Stamp Set; Birthday Bash Specialty DSP; Whisper White & Crushed Curry CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry & Calypso Coral Inks; Best Day Ever Button in Crushed Curry; Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine. Today I get to pair it with the yummy color challenge at Nacho Average Challenge #124! So I finally get to ink up my Wood You Be Mine stamp set - I fell in love with this burly lumberjack as soon as I saw him during the streamed catalog event I got to watch! It took me a bit to get him going because my original set had a tiny flaw in the feet - a bubble between the base and stamp layers. So I had to get him swapped, and - yay! - here we are! I really like how there's a separate stamp to fill in the color of his plaid, too, which, being photopolymer, is a total breeze! Fabulous! Wood You Be Mine? (Occasions 2015) Stamp Set; Whisper White & Old Olive CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Marina Mist, Smoky Slate (just a touch for his beard) & Hello Honey Inks; Nude Blendie; Circles Collection Framelits; On Point Embossing Folder; Banner Punch (to flag the sentiment); Santa & Co. Washi Tape; Subtles Candy Dots in Marina Mist. Pumpkin Club January 31! Did you get your January Pumpkin kit yet? Yum! Yum! Check out the video here! I love the arrangement of the layers in this week's Mojo Monday #380 - seems like lots of room to get lots of detail in! Given that, I figured it was time for another new stamp set! Time to Celebrate is one of the hostess sets in Occasions 2015 - all the way in the back. When I look over these little line drawings, I think, "Quirky!" Needless to say, I've been itching to color this fancy cake since I first spotted it, lol. Since I was thinking "party," I naturally chose the Birthday Bash DSP to go with, which in turn drove the color scheme. I love it when a plan comes together, don't you? Time To Celebrate (Occasions 2015) Stamp Set; Birthday Bash Specialty DSP; Whisper White & Night of Navy CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry & Tangelo Twist Inks; PL Corner Rounder Punch. This week's Merry Monday #141-Cristmas Critters sure is a cute one - how to choose? Answer? Don't! Let's use them all! The gorgeous Nature's Peace actually has a few critters in it, and my only task then, is to highlight them! I'm actually on the fence about this card. It truly does look better in person, because the gold-emboss just doesn't photograph well, sigh. But even with the touch of color on my critters, which are then pop-dotted in place, it still comes across as a bit monochrome. I thought about a splash of Old Olive with some twine or ribbon, but in the end I decided to leave it off - I couldn't get it to come out symmetrical, gr... You'll just have to take my word for it's sparkly-ness! Nature's Peace Stamp Set; Crumb Cake& Naturals Ivory CS; Crumb Cake & Versamark Ink; Gold & White Embossing Powder; Cherry Cobbler & Crumb Cake Blendies. Pumpkin Club January 31! I really like the placement of the floating layer at this week's Retro Sketches #148 - I would never have thought of that! I think I'll combine it with Can You Case It #52's rich color challenge, too! Yet another new stamp set that needed some play is the gorgeous Painted Petals set. I have such an addiction to botanical sets - I've been trying to slow down on them, but this one was a MUST! The stamps have a nifty watercolor effect, which I of course negated by heat -embossing, lol. You can sort of see the intended effect on the envelope, I guess! Anyway, I had some fun playing with the blue and gold on this one, and keeping it fairly clean. This card is so growing on me! There's a "thank you" on the inside... Tip: I think I've finally hit on a way to better manage the gold sequin trim! Glue dots! Firmly affix them to the back of the first and last sequin, making sure to catch the sequin itself and the thread, and it all stays together. Another neat side effect is that when you have the ends attached to the card, you can "wiggle the middle" wherever you want, lol! Give it a go! Painted Petals (Occasions 2015) Stamp Set; Whisper White, Gold Foil & Pool Party CS; Versamark, Gold Encore & Pool Party Inks; Gold & Pool Party Embossing Powder; Gold Sequin Trim. This month's My Pumpkin Challenge #0115 - Get Ready is getting some help from In{k}spire Me #180! In an effort to break out of my Best Day Ever color-scheme rut, I decided to go BOLD! It helps that I also decided to only use colors actually in the ink caddy right now, a lot of stuff is stashed in project boxes for class, lol... Anyway, Blackberry Bliss and Tangelo Twist it is! I made the happy discovery that the word blocks in this month's pumpkin fit PERFECTLY inside the second smallest Squares Collection framelit - yes! That made putting together my "grid" a snap. A curvy balloon from the Bash, and we're all set! So, let's see YOUR pumpkin basics, gang! Pop on over to the challenge to share! All Shook Up Paper Pumpkin Stamp Set; plus, Birthday Bash Stamp Set; Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist & Whisper White CS; Blackberry Bliss & Tangelo Twist Inks; Blackberry Bliss Striped Satin Ribbon; Tangelo Twist Sequin Trim (from Boo-tiful Bags Paper Pumpkin); Squares Collection Framelits; Decorative Label Punch. Yes, I know, it's way early for Easter cards, but to be honest, the gorgeous Indescribable Gift stamp set has been at the top of my to-ink stack all week, and I just can't put off coloring this pretty branch any more! I've been plotting it pretty much since I first spotted it in the Occasions 2015 catty! The trick was to play with some elements to make it fit in this week's Create With Connie & Mary #337! I think I pulled it off! I'm not sure my background papers work quite how I wanted them to, but I can't stay away from this DSP either, sigh. I predict a lot of cards in this color scheme from me for the whole Spring, lol... I loved that I was able to add an inside sentiment for this card, as well - sharing the joy! Indescribable Gift (Occasions 2015) Stamp Set; Best Year Ever DSP; Whisper White & Sahara Sand CS; Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Pear Pizzazz, Crushed Curry & Calypso Coral Inks; Best Year Ever Ribbon & Button in Crushed Curry; Snowflake Card Thinlets. I think it will look pretty faboo combined with SU-per Challenge #71's "fresh" color combo! The first thing I identified getting started on this card is that I have NO DSP in Blushing Bride. Natch. Used to! But not anymore. Lucky for me, SAB 2015 came to the rescue with the Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP! This fun paper gives me the chance to CREATE any color DSP, or any combo, and is super fun to play with to boot! In this case, I used a sponge dauber to rub in the Blushing Bride all over the stars sheet, but I need to get out my brayer to try, too. Fun, fun, fun! I added in a tag using the new One Tag Fits All, and let my aqua-painter freak-flag fly! What a fun morning this has been! One Tag Fits All (Occasions 2015) Stamp Set; Irresistibly Yours Specialty, Birthday Bash & Crumb Cake Stack DSP; Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride & Bermuda Bay Inks; Note Tag & PL Corner Rounder Punches; Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine; Subtles Candy Dots in Blushing Bride.
