I really like the placement of the floating layer at this week's Retro Sketches #148 - I would never have thought of that! I think I'll combine it with Can You Case It #52's rich color challenge, too! Yet another new stamp set that needed some play is the gorgeous Painted Petals set. I have such an addiction to botanical sets - I've been trying to slow down on them, but this one was a MUST! The stamps have a nifty watercolor effect, which I of course negated by heat -embossing, lol. You can sort of see the intended effect on the envelope, I guess! Anyway, I had some fun playing with the blue and gold on this one, and keeping it fairly clean. This card is so growing on me! There's a "thank you" on the inside... Tip: I think I've finally hit on a way to better manage the gold sequin trim! Glue dots! Firmly affix them to the back of the first and last sequin, making sure to catch the sequin itself and the thread, and it all stays together. Another neat side effect is that when you have the ends attached to the card, you can "wiggle the middle" wherever you want, lol! Give it a go! Painted Petals (Occasions 2015) Stamp Set; Whisper White, Gold Foil & Pool Party CS; Versamark, Gold Encore & Pool Party Inks; Gold & Pool Party Embossing Powder; Gold Sequin Trim. Perpetual Birthday Calendar Kit Class! I'm so excited to announce our first class of the year - a super-fun version of the Perpetual Calendar Kit found on page 17 of your Occasions 2015 catalog! This calendar features a custom decorated and lined sheet for each month, where you can pencil in all your birthday ticklers! I've added some simple goodies and tricks to make these kits shine even more, and you'll have lots of leftovers from the kit as well! Keep it for yourself, or box it up for a gift! A fun way to warm up for the year ahead! So, class is still on for Saturday, January 17 at 3:30 pm. $20 gets you all your supplies, including 1 complete kit, a special treat from me, and snacks and refreshments. RSVP now so I can make sure to have your kit waiting for you!

I love how you combined the two challenges! And thanks for the tip about the sequin trim - it can be tricky to keep it from unraveling. Thanks for playing with us this week at CYCI?!
