Love the mix of elements at this week's Create With Connie & Mary #355!  I can't wait to add the color challenge at Just Add Ink #262 - my fave color combo ever!
So, in spite of having all that going for me, I had a bit of a breakdown on this one, I think.  My new Sprinkles of Life stamp set was working its siren wiles on me, and I started out nice and pared down.  Then I tried out going all askew on my little squares, because Bonnie Farley from our mother-ship said that catty-wompus is all the rage right now, and I wanted to see if I could be hip and trendy, lol.  So far, so good, maybe, but then there was all this white space, and I just PANICKED.  Sorry about that - usually I can keep that under wraps, but it got away from me today, lol.  So we have little leaves, and little flowers.  In two colors.  And little pearls.  And then the corner rounder.  Thankfully, Bug got home from school and intervened at this point.  Woops!  Over-Embellish-Itis strikes again!
Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set; Cherry on Top, Best Year Ever (SAB 2015), All Is Calm (retired) & Manchester (retired) DSP; Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral & Whisper White CS; Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Calypso Coral & Pear Pizzazz Inks; Tree Builder & Corner Rounder Punches; 1/4" Cotton Ribbon in Pear Pizzazz; Basic Jewel Pearls.

Love how you off-set the squares on the left to give a little more interest and make the sketch a little less "stuffy". Great colors! Love all the cute little leaves and flowers on the white background. Thanks for playing the Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge this week!

Your blog post made me chuckle Heather - I had a similar 'can't leave it alone' moment with some ribbon on a card today! I love those offset squares down the left hand side and the fresh colour palette you used. Thanks for joining us over at Create With Connie and Mary this week!

Haha..."catty-wompus".....or maybe it was "skew-wompus"....Sara said this onstage during one of her stamping presentations at Convention in Australia this year and everyone laughed....it's not a word that we even use here....so CUTE!
I love your card...I like the dancing squares and the cupcake is adorable! Thanks for joining us this week at Create with Connie and Mary. :)

So cute! I totally understand your need to "just keep adding" bits to the white space, Heather! The result is a very sweet card, with beautiful use of the challenge colours - not overload at all. Thanks for joining in the fun at Just Add Ink this week!

I don't think you've been struck by Over-Embellish-Itis at all! I think it is wonderful and I am really digging the squares being off center. It really draws the eye in! Thanks for playing along this week at Create with Connie and Mary!

I think the random stamping and the catty-wompus pieces capture the fun spirit of the "Sprinkles of Life" set. This is very darling and sweet! Thank you for joining us at Create with Connie and Mary!

I can so relate to "I just panicked', Heather as it happens so often to me, but it rarely ends up in such a sweet project, I think all your little elements work well & really suited the challenge colours (glad you liked them). Thanks for playing a JAI again & thanks too for making me smile. I hope you still had fun making it.
Di :-)

Ah the dreaded white space - I had to laugh - I have the same reaction - often!! Personally I love all the little leafy details you added Heather they really connect the cupcake to the sentiment. Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink this week.

Oh...there is just so much to LOVE about your card! I like that you used dsp for the icing on the cupcake, the cute little flowers and leave in the 'white' part on the right and I especially LOVE the offset dsp on the left! Thanks for playing along this week in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!
