So exciting - we have a nice wide open field for our work at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #191! I'm also intrigued by this week's challenge at Just Add Ink #267 - typography! Hopefully having this much space to work with will help with that, lol... So, what do you do when it's 113 degrees out, and too stinkin' hot to even get in your own pool, lol? You drag out every thank you stamp you have from your sentiments shelf, that's what! Then you totally indulge yourself in your favorite color combo of green and purple, play with the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig a little bit, and hopefully by then, the sun has gone down so that you can do some night swimming! Yeah! Hope I did this "typography" thing right, it WAS fun figuring out what-all I could make fit... Another Thank You, Crazy About You, Silhouettes & Script, Fabulous Four, Something to Say, Bravo, A Dozen Thoughts, Lovely Amazing You & Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Sets; Sweet Taffy DSP (retired-on envelope flap); Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip & Whisper White CS; Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry & Chocolate Chip Inks; Brights Candy Dots in Old Olive. I really like the challenge at this week's Merry Monday #163 - to use Red & White! Thankfully, I have the perfect new stamp set for it, lol... Lots of Joy has LOTS of possibilities! Especially for punches - which I love! I think this challenge made it easier for me to break this set in, since I had to stick to red and white - but I love the bold look of it. These stamps are so fun - and I really love the script in the sentiments... Lots of Joy Stamp Set; Heavyweight & Regular Whisper White & Real Red CS; Real Red Ink; On Point Embossing Folder; Postage Stamp (retired) & 1" Square Punches; Brights Sequins in Real Red. I can't wait to break it down! For today's card I definitely wanted to use another new stamp set - one I've been eying since the I first saw the catty: hostess set Best Thoughts. I've been wanting to color that flower image ever since! I also tried out some new DSP, from one of our awesome 6" x 6" packs - Pretty Petals. I love this because I can usually get what I need for the card, AND the envelope flap from one sheet - YES! So handy. And yes, those are the new White Perfect Accents, and yes, I colored them with the now-discontinued Old Olive Blendies. Frankly, I'm guessing that's exactly what these embellishments were made for, but now they're kinda superfluous without the blendies line. I'm choosing to believe that this is yet another indication that SU! continues to work on bringing us back some alcohol markers as soon as they can. That will make these like candy dots in multiple sizes - something else I've longed for ever since the dots came out! Best Thoughts Stamp Set; Pretty Petals DSP Pack; Mint Macaron, Basic Black, Very Vanilla & Calypso Coral CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive & Calypso Coral Inks; Spring Flowers Embossing Folder; Banners Collection Framelits; Triple Banner Punch; White Perfect Accents, colored with Old Olive Blendabilities. Time for some more bashing at this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #0615 - Birthday Bashing, that is! Let's see if I can bash it up with this week's Create With Connie & Mary #359, too! So, digging back through some past kits I have still, I came across my leavings from the Hey, Man" kit, from May 2014. The elements I still had seemed perfect for this sketch, I have to say. So here we are, with a simple and manly birthday card - yay! See you at the Challenge! Hey, Man & Birthday Bundle Paper Pumpkins; plus, Soft Suede, Marina Mist & Wild Wasabi Inks; Very Vanilla & Soft Suede CS; 2 1/2" Circle & Banner Punches; Circles Collection Framelits. Independence Day Decor Class! I think it's time to make a new outfit for our Hello Life Project Kit! I know we loved our St. Patrick's Day gown - let's do one for July 4, too! Class is still on for a new make-up class on Thursday, June 18 at 6:30 pm. Class will include all supplies, a little treat from me, and snacks and drinks. If you already have a Hello Life Project kit, class is $20, and will build on what we've started with. If you need a kit to get started with, I have several on hand, and class is $25. RSVP today, so I can make sure to be ready for you! Oo, super-fun sketch at this week's In{k}spire Me #202! I think it will be fun to combine it with the summer challenge over at this week's Can You Case It #74, too! So, I think strawberries are pretty summery - don't you? I love it when the berries start coming in! So I decided to ink up my new Market Fresh set, and threw in All Boxed up for Good measure. I had so much fun playing with all the little pieces and layers, that I actually didn't realize til I came back to write this up that I did my bottom rectangle layers on the opposite corners - too funny! Oh well, I'll get over it, lol... Market Fresh & All Boxed Up Stamp Sets; Farmers Market DSP; Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss & Very Vanilla CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive Inks; Spring Flowers Embossing Folder; PL Corner Rounder Punch; Heavy Baker's Twine in Blackberry Bliss & Mossy Meadow Buttons from In Color Accessory Pack (SAB 2015); Circle Card Thinlets. Let's just see if I do after I also toss in the color challenge from this week's Just Add Ink #266! Time for another new stamp set - yay! Today I'm showing off the elegant new hostess set Silhouettes & Script. I actually had thought I'd do the pear image, but the colors kept pulling me to another baby card, so I succumbed. My baby card box is getting FULL! My friends need to start having more babies, I think... Anyway, combining this sketch and color challenge definitely pulled me in a direction I wouldn't have gone otherwise, I think - but I managed to save the oval! Silhouettes & Script, & Something to Say Stamp Sets; Birthday Bash Specialty & Unknown Ancient Pink Pirouette Scrap DSPs, both retired; Heavy & Regular Whisper White, Pink Pirouette & Night of Navy CS; Night of Navy & Versamark Inks; Gold Embossing Powder; Ovals Framelits; Occasions Piercing Template (retired); Banner Punch (for flagging sentiment.) I think I'll combine with the lovely and adaptable sketch at SU-per Challenge #93, too! So, let's all do a little happy dance that Christmas is back in the big Stampin' Up! catalog, shall we? This card is all new, and CURRENT! Woo hoo! I decided to play with my new Santa set (but not Santa himself, alas) and also trot out the new DSP. Yummy! This stamp set is also another one that has a continuing sentiment for the inside of the card, too: "...and wishes for a wonderful New Year!" Santa's Gifts Stamp Set; Merry Moments DSP; Whisper White Heavy & Regular, Mossy Meadow & Cherry Cobbler CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, Basic Black & Crumb Cake Inks; Brick Wall Embossing Folder; Brights Sequins; Mossy Meadow Striped Satin Ribbon; Angled Tag Topper & Banner Punch (for flagging sentiment); Stapler. I think I'll match it up with this week's slanted sketch from Nacho Average Challenge #145! FINALLY! chance to play with some new goodies! It's always funny to me what stuff I pull out as I navigate whatever challenges are in front of me, lol. In this case, this particular combo seemed to call out for the adorable new Barnyard Babies, along with the Sweet Li'l Things DSP. These beautiful but subdued colors were not what I was thinking when I first saw this set, of course, but so fun to make a simple and sweet baby card! Barnyard Babies Stamp Set; Sweet Li'l Things DSP; Tip Top Taupe, Early Espresso & Very Vanilla CS; Early Espresso & Tip Top Taupe Inks; Dotted Lace Trim in Tip Top Taupe; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Snowflake Card Thinlets; Subtles Candy Dots in Pool Party. This is definitely a week that I'm taking over-the-top liberties with the sketch. I guess I don't feel much like little squares today - and I also feel like fussy cutting! So, I turned the sketch sideways, added a flower, and re-ordered my layers. So there! "They're more like guidelines," really, right? So I can't wait to see what you have for us this week - come be Fabulous with us! I'm a huge Food Network fan, so when they said it's like the show "Chopped," I knew I had to give it a go! Check out the graphic below for the "basket ingredients!" I have to use at least 4 items from the list, and I can only use additional "Pantry" items found here. So fun! This challenge stays open for a month, and I can do multiple entries, so maybe I'll do more! For today, I decided to NOT do butterflies: my basket items are both inks, the Hello You Thinlets, Work of Art stamp set and gold foil - that makes FIVE items, yay! My Food Network freak flag is flying high! I also asked the age-old question: how many times CAN you stamp off Blackberry Bliss? I stopped at four today, but I bet I could get more out of it, lol...
