There's a little tempest going on at the demo website these days, over this phrase in the Yippee-Skippee! stamp set. I haven't really formed (or voiced) a particular opinion over it, but it occurs to me that, as is my right as a Taurus, I might be taking the bull by the horns a bit with my blog title today! Ah well, I hope I don't lose any subscribers over it, but this whole stamp set really makes me chuckle - the fonts and phrases are so darn cute, I keep going back to them! And let's face it, those that know me know I have a bit of a potty mouth when I get riled (TAURUS, remember?), so maybe if I start using this phrase, some people would actually be happier, lol. Guess, we'll see! Thank you Retro Sketches #68! Yippee-Skippee! stamp set; Real Red, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip & Pretty In Pink (retired) CS; Sending Love Specialty DSP (retired, sigh); Finishing Touches edgelits; Chalk Talk Framelits; Real Red 1/8" & Pretty In Pink 3/8" (retired) taffeta ribbons; Heart To Heart punch (retired); Rhinestone basic Jewels.

Here's a card from one of the CA-UTE new Hostess sets - Banner Greetings! As soon as I saw this week's Clean & Simple Sketch #245, I knew it was perfect for this set! I had to turn it sideways to put all the banners in I wanted, though... Almost through with this DSP, too, now, whew! Starting to make some headway on the retired stash! Enjoy! Banner Greetings & Create A Cupcake stamp sets; Baja Breeze (retired, {sob}), Summer Starfruit & Whisper White CS; Patio Party DSP (retired); Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit & Baja Breeze (retired, {sob}) inks; 1 1/2" Circle, Cupcake & Owl Builder punches; Raspberry Ripple satin stitched ribbon; basic jewel Rhinestones. So, have you ever wanted Stampin' Up! to make a stamp set out of your ideas? NOW'S your chance!! SU! is opening a new sharing site called "In With You," where you can register to join that community, and take part in various challenges to design new stamps! They will post a theme (this first one is MONSTERS, Zombies & Creatures With Horns -eek!) and you post your artwork for everyone to vote on. The artwork with the most votes wins! There are cash prizes for the top 3 designs - click on the flyer to get all the details! Eek, time for another color challenge from Fab Friday #20! Thank goodness it's with this year's gorgeous new In Colors - I love them! So sunny and happy - and even the names are yummy, lol... I got the idea for this card on the way to picking up Bug from camp - can you tell what was on my mind? I did MISS the little crumb-snatcher this week! I think we should have ice cream tonight! And a nice long Star Trek marathon on Netflix, now that my co-trekker is home! Yippee-Skippee!, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Fabulous Phrases & From My Heart stamp sets; Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush & Whisper White CS; 2013-15 In Colors inks; Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I am pretty enamored of the new stamp set "Chalk Talk," I think I'll be finding dozens of ways to use it, and its accompanying framelit set - love that! So since this week's Freshly Made Sketch #90 looked like it had a big enough space to pull in my fave stamp from the set, too, I knew it was time to bring it out. Along with all these new toys, I also have to tell you - I also used the new magnetic platform for the big shot, to run the framelit through - OMG it's the greatest thing since SLICED BREAD! It totally works - the magnet is strong enough to pull through the cutting plates - woo hoo! We'll have to save our "crap tags" for something else now, lol! Chalk Talk & Best of Birthdays (inside) stamp sets; Basic Black, Whisper White & Smoky Slate CS; Rockabilly Specialty DSP (retired); Silver Glimmer paper; White embossing powder; Rhinestone Basic Jewels. OK, gang, time for one last class before I go to convention - woo hoo! This month, I thought we'd take a crack at lightening my retired stash of DSP and have a Rosette Wreath Extravaganza! I will make it WAY EASY for you! All you'll need to bring is a hot glue gun, if you have one - I will provide all other materials! (If you have one of the AWESOME silicone mats, you should bring that, too.) Help a sister out and come make a dent in my hoards! (that means buttons, gewgaws and ribbons, too, ACK!) My sample wreath is in a selection of yellows, but if you let me know what color or theme you want to highlight, I will make it happen for you! (Sorry, we can't ALL do yellow!) I've already made up sheet packs for 1 more yellow, greens, red/white/blue, game night, Fall, Halloween - the possibilities are almost endless, so just sing out! What decor are you missing? Let's fill it in! So, class will be held Thursday, June 20, 630 pm, chez Heroldt, or, for my day-trippers, Friday, June 21, 10 am. RSVP today with your color/theme choice (or just come and pick something out when you get here!), so I can be prepped and ready! PS. We will of course also be doing a SIMPLE card featuring one of the awesome new suites - "Six-Sided Sampler"- CASE'd from the new catty - what do you think? You didn't think I'd let that slip, did you?? PPS. I had time to do a restock the Sale Box too - lots of "new" retired sets to choose from at bargain prices - get them away from me! OK, I'm not bitter, but I just have to say, Stampin' Up! did NOT give us many new options on the patriotic front this year (although I can't wait to get the new stars set!) So I had to think outside the box for this week's Paper Craft Crew Sketch #46, which had the added challenge of showing your patriotic colors! I actually woke up in the middle of the night with this one - yay! It was also great fun to play with the photopolymer stamp set again - I love how you can line up all the little letters at once, and SEE exactly where you are stamping - brilliant! Make sure to check out the other crafty creations at Paper Craft Crew! Designer Typeset photopolymer stamp set; Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White & Night of Navy CS and inks; Stripes embossing folder (on envelope); Merry Minis punch pack - Star; Cherry Cobbler baker's twine; self-adhesive Rhinestones. EEEeeeEEE! Got to use my first new stamp set from the new catalog for Retro Sketch #67 today! I loved every single one of the phrases in this set - it's like someone at SU! was peeking in the window at my house when they made it - creepy! It was fun to roll out all the bright colors to go with, as well, can never be too cheerful, right? Yippee-Skippee & Mixed Bunch stamp sets; Summer Smooches DSP (retired); Whisper White & Lucky Limeade (retired) CS; Real Red, Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight & Tangerine Tango inks; Brights buttons collection; Lucky Limeade organdy (retired); Blossom punch; self-adhesive Rhinestones. I loved loved LOVED the possibilities in this week's Clean & Simple #244! There's so much you can do with repeating an image this way, and it instantly makes me start hunting for something unexpected to use! This time, I still need one last Father's Day card for DH, who just got back from a camping and fishing trip with a buddy where NO fish made any appearances. (He was a little distraught when he got home!) Sounds like we're dealing with some wildfire ash run-off, and the rivers might be out for fish for a while. Good thing we like craw-dads, BUT, I'm the craw-dad hunter around here... Oh well... By The Tide & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets; Coastal Cabana, Whisper White & Pool Party CS; Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizzazz, Pistachio Pudding, Baked Brown Sugar & Early Espresso inks; Word Window punch; self-adhesive Pearls. One of the hardest days for me of the new catalog transition period is "moving day." That's the day I physically move all the retiring stamp sets out into their retirement home (the guest room shelves!) Then, I resort those sets (and the ones already enjoying their retirement, lol) for the ones I make available for sale to my friends and customers. Invariably, I come across a stamp set that I freak out a little bit over. Actually this happens for 5 or 6 sets, if I'm being honest. Sometimes it's a set that I just can't believe is retiring, because I use it almost every day and it's so awesome. And sometimes, like the one on today's card, it's one that I "forgot" I had, and didn't make sure to use as much as I meant to. This Sent With Love suite was SO cute! And I have a TON of the paper left - argh! Thank goodness Freshly Made Sketches #89 can help me sneak in one (or two!) last cards with it! Think I'll send this one to Bug at camp next week! Sent With Love stamp set & DSP (retired); Island Indigo, Pool Party, Calypso Coral & Real Red CS & inks; Calypso Coral baker's twine; Postage Stamp punch; self-adhesive Rhinestones. OK, I freely admit - I kind of cheated with this week's color challenge from Sunday Stamps #51. I took their fresh and fun color scheme, and applied it to a ca-UTE card in the new 2013-14 SU! Idea Book & Catalog, on page 114. Theirs is all pastel-y and tranquil, and mine POPS with the vibrant colors of the challenge - yay! As soon as I saw that sample in the catty, I knew I had to CASE. But, maybe I'll do more of this challenge - Sunday Stamps now has TWO weeks to play along - double yay! Daydream Medallions & From My Heart stamp sets; Daffodil Delight & Whisper White CS; Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight & Sahara Sand inks; Floral Frames framelits; Brights button collection, Linen thread. |
