I've been fretting for a week or two that my Father's Day shadow box is looking a little lonely - I needed to add something to the table decor for this theme. Enter My Pumpkin Challenge #2 - besides making a Paper Pumpkin Kit shine, try and pull in the theme of tags or banners. This immediately made me think of that cute standing tags banner we did for Valentine's Day - tags and banners in one swoop!
I made "Pater Familias" in same way we did that project (you can find those instructions here, if you missed it!), but using the same general color scheme used on the shadow box - except for using the papers from the latest Paper Pumpkin kit - Good Life! This opened up some new color options, but it still goes well with the other decor. Yay! All the little stickers were fun to play with, too - but still manly! Hubby is a big "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" fan! Make sure to visit My Pumpkin Challenge to see what other cool "off-label" goodies folks are coming up with! Oo, lots of possibilities for this week's Paper Craft Crew Sketch #45! I decided to start by turning it sideways, and then I felt like I wanted to play with some pinwheels, and then, well, it all took off from there... Never forget - the stamp-a-ma-jig is your FRIEND! Be sure to check out the other great cards at Paper Craft Crew! Make A Cake & Wishes Your Way stamp sets; Whisper White, Baked Brown Sugar & Pool Party CS; Basic Black, Strawberry Slush, Pool Party & Daffodil Delight inks; Quatrefancy Specialty DSP; Delicate Designs embossing folder; Pinwheel sizzlet; Ovals Collection framelits; Occasions piercing template; Brights & Subtles brads; self-adhesive Rhinestones. This week's Retro Sketch #66 is deceptively simple - I had to think how I would handle it for a few days! I decided to start with the paper to help figure out a color scheme, and things fell into place from there. I do think I might go back and add some of the new "Candy Dots" at the bottom when they arrive - I can't wait to try little those suckers! Weee! ODB Scripture Collection 2 stamp set; Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral & Pool Party CS; This And That Epic Day DSP; Early Espresso ink; 1 3/8" Square punch used for the chevrons. OK, I have a little story for this week's card for Fab Friday #19 - of course! I have a wonderful 92-year old friend who just received her monthly shipment of FABULOUS pears from Harry & David's - you know, the ones they wrap in gold foil because they are SO da' bomb? When her shipment arrived, I told her about how we used to get a "Fruit of the Month" subscription from there, and I described how hubby and I used to race each other home from work on the day we knew it was supposed to arrive. We'd call each other on our cells with race updates, too: "Dude, I'm only one exit away! Those cherries are MINE, BWAHAHAHA, sucker!" It was guite, ah, competitive... So my friend surprised me on my way out the door with two of the pears to take home, and she was very specific - "Isn't Todd away camping this weekend? Make sure you eat them before he gets home, now!" and laughing like a loon. Needless to say, mission accomplished! Here's my quick thank you to her - for Fabulous Pears! Perfectly Preserved (Retired) stamp set; More Mustard (retired), Lucky Limeade (retired) and Very Vanilla CS; Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade (retired) & Raspberry Ripple inks; Orchard Harvest DSP (retired); Cannery Set framelits; Small Oval & Corner Rounder punches; Honeycomb embossing folder; self-adhesive Rhinestones. I decided for this week's Clean & Simple #243, it had been far too long since my last scripture card, and I really wanted to pull out something I hadn't used yet. I don't turn to Lamentations so much, but this reminder is such a celebration! And of course, lol, a constant reassurance that we will always need to hear. At least I know I do! I loved the designer's sample colors so much, I decided to "borrow" those, too - what a great sketch! ODB Scripture Collection 1 & Betsy's Blossoms (on envelope) stamp sets; Pool Party, Real Red, Whisper White & Bermuda Bay CS & inks; various Scallop Circle punches; Brights button; White Baker's Twine; Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch.
