Holy smokes - did you see the DT offerings over at Freshly Made #119? So many fun cards, with this whimsical angle they've introduced... So, I had a new stamp set sitting on my desk, and decided to go the Valentine's route. But my retired Sending Love Specialty DSP is still on top of my retired stack by my desk - I think I should make a point of changing that daily, because it definitely has an influence on color schemes for me! I hate to put the retired papers completely out of sight, because then I forget to use them up, but when they sit out like that, I can't help but get pulled in - argh! Maybe we just need a new Valentine's DSP, lol! Well, off to re-order the stack - hm, Rockabilly? Love You More stamp set; Very Vanilla, Real Red, Chocolate Chip & Pretty In Pink (retired) CS; VersaMark, Real Red, Chocolate Chip & Strawberry Slush inks; White Embossing Powder; Hearts A Flutter Framelits; Adorning Accents Embossing Folder. Don't forget - there's still time to RSVP for the first stamp class of the year - our Flip Calendar Class will be Thursday, Jan 23, 630 pm, chez Heroldt, with snacks and cheer! Hope to see you there!

Look at this yummy color challenge from this week's Nacho Average Challenge #72! It's so striking, I couldn't resist really pouring on the contrast with big shapes - and what a happy accident! While digging through my Crushed Curry scrap folder, I found this Apothecary shape already cut and waiting - I had originally planned on doing another oval. This is so much more interesting! I'm a piercing fool on this one, as well - I think every framelit set we have should have its own piercing card, lol... See Ya' Later stamp set (SAB 2014); Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip & Crushed Curry CS & inks; Ovals Collection & Apothecary Accents framelits; Occasions & Essentials Piercing Templates; Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Don't forget - there's still time to RSVP for the first stamp class of the year - our Flip Calendar Class will be Thursday, Jan 23, 630 pm, chez Heroldt, with snacks and cheer! Hope to see you there! Oh gosh - here I am with Merry Monday #91- it's going to be so fun to refill the Christmas box this way! I so LOVE this week's challenge - use a snowman (uh, snow-PERSON) or snow people on your card - YES! I adore snowmen - in our family, my mom had themed Christmas items she gave each of us - a star for my older sister, Santa for my brother, an angel for my younger sister - but I always got a snowman of some kind! They are a major part of my holiday decor, now! For all of that, I'm a bit abashed to admit that I had to go to the retired stash for a snowman stamp - I so adored this set when we had it! I wish our snowmen lasted more than a year - and I just realized how that sounded after I typed it, lol... Pretty ironic coming from this desert gal! Snow Buddies (retired) & Christmas Messages stamp sets; Soft Sky & Whisper White CS; Black Staz-On, Soft Sky, Real Red, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie & Basic Gray inks; Snow Burst Embossing Folder; Dazzling Diamonds Glitter & Label Bracket Punch. Don't forget - there's still time to RSVP for the first stamp class of the year - our Flip Calendar Class will be Thursday, Jan 23, 630 pm, chez Heroldt, with snacks and cheer! Hope to see you there! I know you've all been waiting with baited breath to see our first project of the year! I'm pleased to report that your many requests have been answered! This month, I though we'd try a version of the Father's Day "endless calendar" you all like so much, that sits down on my kitchen counter - what do you think?? I've shown a fairly naked version here - you will also have options to add ribbons and other decor, as you desire, to add a little more zing, but this is also sturdy and simple enough that it'd make good man-gift as is, too... Check out all the months below! I have prepped my buns off so that completion of this project is indeed possible in one night, so I hope you'll be there! RSVP NOW for the Flip Calendar Class, on Thursday, Jan 23, 630 pm, chez Heroldt. Class is $20 and includes all the supplies you need, except for your adhesive of choice! I will say, though, if you have a Crop-O-Dile, you might want to bring it for extra hole punching power! I have two, though, so no one will go without! There will be gifts and treats, of course, to help ring in the New Crafting Year! And if you need a day-time class, be sure to let me know, I'm always happy to add one, you know! PS. I have the dates I plan on offering the rest of this year's classes all set for you, and ideas for a our next couple of classes, too! Bring your ideas if there's something you want us to try! This week's sketch from Paper Craft Crew #76 was a perfect chance to show off another lovely Sale-A-Bration stamp set, headed your way soon! This one is called You're Lovely, and there are two new stamps to coordinate with the Deco Labels framelit set. We SO need a piercing template for that set! I had fun making this one all flowery and sweet - easy to do with the gorgeous Sweet Sorbet DSP! Hope you can join the Crew this week - can't wait to see YOUR creations! Petite Petals & You're Lovely stamp sets; Pistachio Pudding, Summer Starfruit & Whisper White CS; Sweet Sorbet DSP; Pisatchio Pudding, Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Summer Starfruit & Basic Gray inks; Deco Labels Framelits; Petite Petals & Corner Rounder Punches; Basic Jewel Pearls. Hoop-de-doo, here I am with installment 2 of this month's My Pumpkin Challenge - "You & Me!" I'm sticking to my scrapbook resolution, but I totally still feel like I'm flying without a net here - thank goodness I have so many folks rooting for me and telling me I can do whatever I want in a scrapbook! Today's pages immortalize a truly beautiful day in the life of Hea & Hubby - with lunch, even! Here's the story - Todd's golf partner cancelled on him for the day, and instead of going anyway and just picking up with another group, he took me downtown to see an exhibit I had mentioned earlier I wished I could see at the Phoenix Art Museum - a three-days-only showing of the 2014 Ikebana of Arizona Society!! That's right folks - my sweetheart gave up a day of golf to take his wife to "some weird flower show," and added a yum-mo and swanky lunch at the museum cafe after! What a fun morning! He even sprang for a museum membership, making me wonder if I might get more lunch dates out of this! Paper Pumpkin-Real Life Journal; plus, Summer Starfruit, Basic Gray & Strawberry Slush inks; Whisper White & Coastal Cabana CS; 3/4" Oval Punch; On Film Framelits Dies. Well, clearly I'm not yet run through my obsession with the new Word Bubble framelit set, lol, because that was all I could think of when I took a look at Clean & Simple #274! I'm also very much in love with the color scheme from the Sale-A-Bration DSP offering Sweet Sorbet, though I suppose you couldn't tell that from the number of colors I added to it on this card! Something fun, fresh and simple - love it! I am SO much happier with this card than with the one other "cut-out" style card I did last year, good to get another pass at it! Just Sayin' & Petal Parade stamp sets; Coastal Cabana, Whisper White & Smaoky Slate CS; Sweet Sorbet DSP; Word Bubble Framelits; Pistachio Pudding & VersaMark inks; Subtles Candy Dots. I love the simple and dramatic layout of this week's Freshly Made Sketch #118 - perfect for showcasing a dramatic image, like the flower in Regarding Dahlias! I decided to do something bright and spring-y, in defiance of the nasty "winter vortex" so many here in the US are recovering from. We didn't get to feel much of it down here in AZ, but I helped a few northern friends escape! We didn't get in the pool or anything, but it wasn't sweater weather, for sure... Stay warm, my friends! Regarding Dahlias stamp set; Whisper White, Basic Black & Crushed Curry CD; Watercolor Wonder DSP; Crushed Curry & Whisper White Craft inks; White Embossing Powder; Corner Rounder Punch; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder. Ahhh, once again, my vision for this week's Nacho Average Challenge #71 is all about the shape! After a bit of poking around (and the empty Christmas Card box staring blankly at me - it really needs to move into the guest room with the other boxes), I landed on a giant Festive Flurry for my circular shape - woo hoo! This past Christmas, I really honed in on pairing up Silver with Island Indigo and Real Red, so I threw in some of those tiny accents as well. Simple and delish, if I do say so myself! Festive Flurry & Christmas Messages stamp sets; Smoky Slate, Silver Foil, Whisper White & Textured Island Indigo CS; Versamark & Silver Encore inks; Silver Embossing Powder; Silver 1/8" Ribbon; Corner Rounder & Scalloped Tag Topper punches; Brights Candy Dots. This week's card for Retro Sketches #96 turned out to be all talk-talk-talk, though it was a real Stamp-A-Ma-Jig workout! I started by spending a brief moment looking over images, and quickly concluded that I really just wanted to use my new Word Bubbles framelits, so there! That turned me on to the coordinating stamp set, Just Sayin', and the fait was accompli, lol... The "gee, thanks" is actually stacked on that stamp, so I had to SAMJ that right out of the gate, but the thought bubble framelit was a surprise: it's actually two pieces, all fine and dandy, BUT, the stamp of the thought bubble has those pieces too close together - you have to stamp the image twice, and really, you have to mask off some of the cloud so you can get a clean "thinking trail." (Insert quiet and ladylike growl here.) That'll all make sense the first time you use this stamp and framelit, lol! Just Sayin' stamp set; Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Gumball Green & Daffodil Delight CS; Watercolor Wonder DSP; Island Indigo & Crushed Curry inks; Word Bubbles framelits; Daffodil Deight Stitched 1/4" Grosgrain; Chevron EF; Corner Rounder Punch; Neutrals Buttons (retired). |
