Time for another Fab Friday #63 color challenge! This time, we're saying a fond farewell to our out-going set of In Colors - can't wait to see our new ones! This also seems like a great challenge for combining with Can You Case It #67's Mother's Day challenge, too! So, in the years I've been a Stampin' Up! demo, I've tried hard to cultivate a philosophical attitude about this time of year - the dreaded retirement list! My first couple were HORRIBLE. Total nutty. I had serious co-dependency issues with ALL of my stamps in those days. Now, I've gotten better, though I do have an occasional "they'll pry this one out of my cold dead hands" moment (Best of Cluck, anyone??) but I've learned that new awesomeness is just around the corner in our new catalog. Eee! Exciting! This year, my biggest pang was over the demise of all our Spanish language stamps, like Deseos pequenitos, here, the Spanish version of Teeny Tiny Wishes. I live in Arizona! I USE these stamps! I'm giving a little sob while I type this - and they'll pry this one out of my mumble mumble mumble... Sigh. Mixed Bunch & Deseos pequenitos Stamp Sets; Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding & Whisper White CS; Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe & Coastal Cabana {SOB} Inks; Corner Rounder, Modern Label {SOB}, Word Window (retired already, sigh), 3/4" & 7/8" Circles & Blossom Punches; Flower Fair Framelits; Lovely Lace Embossing Folder; Pistachio Pudding Heavy Baker's Twine; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. We're back again on Pumpkin Day with My Pumpkin Challenge #0415 - Sew Pretty, Sew Simple! Let's see what we can do with adding in this week's sketch from In{k}spire Me #194, too! I had "sew" much fun last week making a Christmas card, I decided to try hitting another event. This week it's Mother's Day, with a little help from the Crazy About You stamp set. I truly believe that set is the perfect partner with this month's Paper Pumpkin! I decided to go with some of my fave colors together, and then found a perle cotton from my stash to match. (For those interested, this is UKI's 5/2 Melon #107! I always seem to gravitate to the "food" colors, lol.) I doubled it to make the stitching pretty robust, and broke out the rest of the sentiment onto banners to match the sketch. I added a bit more depth to my flower by alternating full and stamped-off layers - snippy-snippy today! Tip: Check out the masking on the envelope - SO much easier when we have a punch, lol! Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Crazy About You Stamp Set; Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz & Whisper White CS; Calypso Coral & Pear Pizzazz Inks; 5/2 Perle Cotton in Melon; Flower Medallion, Banner & Corner Rounder Punches; Basic Jewel Jumbo Pearls (retired.) April 21-June 2, 2015 (or while supplies last)
We're saying goodbye to retiring products from the 2014-2015 annual catalog, but before we do, we're giving everyone an opportunity to order their favorites with discounts up to 50 percent off retail. Retiring products will only be available until June 2, or while supplies last, so now's a great time to get them before they're gone! We're also including the My Digital Studio list, with all products discounted 30 percent off retail. *Note: Due to high demand for retiring stamps, we'll keep producing retiring stamps until May 26 (not accessories-accessories are only while supplies last). Well, good thing In{k}spire Me #144 was here to remind me it's never too early to work on my Mother's Day cards (sorry, Dads!) Then I saw the yummy color challenge from Fab Friday #40, and I knew I wanted to pull that in, too... One of the retiring sets I know I'll miss is Delicate Doilies. This is one that I "forget" I have sometimes, and then I get reminded how versatile it is and kick myself for a while, lol. Serves me right not using it more! In this case, I had a blast making my own "DSP" for the background panel - LOVE this color combo! Thank goodness we get to keep Teeny Tiny Wishes! Chalk Talk, Delicate Doilies & Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Sets; Crisp Cantaloupe, Early Espresso, Smoky Slate & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, Summer Starfruit, Crisp Cantaloupe & Smoky Slate Inks; Wide Oval, Word Window & Modern Label Punches; Satin Stitched Ribbon in Summer Starfruit; Stretch Ruffle Trim in Crisp Cantaloupe; Basic Jewel Pearls. I knew for my Mother's Day card this year, I really wanted to play with our new 2013-14 In Colors - I love food names for colors! It seemed a cinch to combine it also with Freshly Made Sketch #85, to really show off some of the color combos. I managed to use at least a little of ALL the colors, though I did "stamp-off" in a few places to dampen them down a bit. Happy Mother's Day, Mom! Oh, Hello & All Holidays (retired) stamp sets; Whisper White, Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding & Strawberry Slush CS; Quatrefancy Specialty DSP; Pistachio Pudding, Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana & Crisp Cantaloupe inks; Elegant Lines (retired) embossing folder; Little Leaves sizzlet; Ovals Collection framelits; Occasions piercing pack; Boho Blossoms punch; stitched 1/4" grosgrain in Whisper White; self-adhesive Pearls. Here's a little Mother's Day card I CAS'ed from somewhere - Stampin' Connection maybe? Anyway, I thought it would be a great chance to use some of my old retired To The Nines Specialty DSP, which is a card stock weight, so I was able to use it for the card base itself. This was offset with another retired DSP from the Parisian Summer set. I simply edged it and punched a window hole for the butterfly from God's Beauty to rest on... A fun little layout exercise! As you can tell, I really hit my retired DSPs for the ready-made cards for the Mountainview Presbyterian Holiday Boutique! To The Nines Specialty DSP (retired & Parisian Summer DSP (retired); Chocolate Chip Ink; God's Beauty (retired) & All Holidays (retired) stamp sets; Scalloped Trim Border & 1 5/8" Circle punches; Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon; Little Leaves die; Old Olive button from Brights pack. Happy Mother's Day! Here's my card for my own Mom, CAS-ed from Split Coast. I'll get to give it to her later today - hubby is making us both brunch (with mimosas, of course!) and has The King's Speech for us to watch! What a perfect Mother's Day! Mom, Mimosas and Colin Firth! Woo! 5th Avenue Floral and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets, Little Leaves Sizzlit, Manhattan Flower embossing folder. |
