 So fun - we'd like to see a theme of picnics this round at As You See It #354! So many fun ideas for this one - and I really broke into the stamp vault to do as many as I could, lol. Of course I had to start with a red checked cloth - 2021's Buffalo Check stamp to the rescue! I got to thinking how funny it would be to add some geometric ants in the white checks, so naturally I had to follow through with 2017's Beetles & Bugs - they fit perfectly! The main theme came straight from 2018's Picnic With You, and I stuck to the picnic essentials: wine, bread and cheese, lol. Doesn't get any better!  We have a very classic sketch this round at Hand Stamped Sentiments #464 to play with! When I went hunting for a likely set for this one, I kept in mind that it would need a good DSP to set off all those layers, too - and when I spotted this "cute" long sentiment in Otterly Amazing, I knew I had found my prize, lol. I took my time setting up all my layers - I wanted everything to have a tiny Pretty Peacock border! I also fussy cut this playful pair of otters from another sheet - just right for that sentiment! I'm so happy with how this one came out - otters always remind me of our Labradors - I always called our Sophie my otter-dog, lol. So many happy memories! I decided to go with dogs - how not with a puppy in the house?? I couldn't resist breaking into my hoarded Playful Pets DSP for it, too - so many cute doggoes on those sheets! I layered some squares for my card design - so dramatic with the black, white and red, BUT, I also pulled in a sentiment from a set I won on a blog challenge - Say Woof from Newton's Nook! Really, the best doggy sentiments, lol. I added a few more details, but really, I let the paper do the work today! Yay! It's finally time for my favorite class of the year - critters! We have SO many new little friends, I can't wait to give them the love they deserve! Lol, Shopping Our Stash #542 is running a "one is the loneliest number" challenge this round - what a great name for a one layer card! I quickly settled on our Seaside Wishes stamp set for my stamping - I have beach on the brain as we get closer to our trip to Maui! I started with the smaller sand dollar, and knew I wanted to do some masking so I could beef up the depth a little. After I stamped it on the card front, I stamped again on a post-it note and closely fussy cut it for my mask. Next came the larger dollar, followed by the sentiment, some sandy texture and a couple tiny starfish. I love these elements! At the last second, I added a Stitched With Whimsy border - I'm so sad these fun dies are retired, though I guess it makes no never-mind, since I keep using them anyway, lol... It's so pretty, and being from Arizona, I really can't lay off anything cactus or succulent themed, lol. The shoe fits! Anyway, I also couldn't resist featuring this with some retired Soft Succulent details - made for each other! I started with a background of Soft Succulent for my beauty, then added a stamped-off layer of Highland Heather - it looks like so many of the plantings I see in the yards around here! I was most enamored of the modern tree ring stamp and die last year, and did lots of renditions of that, lol. BUT, there's also a snowflake wreath - yes! So today's card features that, with a few extra single flakes, all floating over this glorious flocked sheet from our old Snowflake Specialty Vellum pack. Snowflakes in every bite, lol. RSVP now to save your spot!  Such a lovely Autumn inspiration quote for us at Time Out Challenges #273! Such a lovely quote cried out for a little effort on my part today, lol. I decided to pull out the stops with the coloring and play with my Brusho Crystal Colors again today - always good for some messy fun! I started with a whole sheet of our Watercolor Paper, put it safely on a "messy board, "and went to town with my crystals in yellow, orange and red. Then I spritzed with water to activate the colors, dried it with the heat gun, and went again. One more layer later I was happy with my results, and I made sure it was totally dry before I heat embossed my leaves in Gold and cut them out. They looked great against the Crumb Cake, and I stamped this perfect sentiment in the corner, before flicking some Cherry Cobbler ink over everything for good measure. Finito! I love it! I finally spotted this one (shh, in the for sale box, lol) in Lovely You, which retired last year! I really loved that it mixed the fonts in the sentiments - my favorite look! Since this was a "just because," I decided I wanted it to be kind of Fall-y, and since I had spotted some old Rings of Love DSP while sorting through my stash, I knew just what sheet I wanted to feature! I pulled this pretty oak leaf and acorn sheet, and even fussy cut one little spray to feature with the sentiment. I even still have some Soft Suede to go with it all! I layered up some retired oval punches, and found a little wooden accent, too. A few chocolatey sequins finishes things off! So fun! I first went shopping for some balloon images - isn't there an old one of a puppy flying away? A birthday chicken? I feel like I just did hot air balloons, so I wanted to go for party balloons this time! Then I spotted Silly Goose - YES! Now for the DSP - I could dimly remember a colorful sheet that was COVERED in party balloons - which led me to my old pack of Birthday Bonanza DSP - I think from 2020? Perfect! I set up my background, stamped up my goose on a Deckled Rectangle, and did some minimal coloring in Mango Melody and Bermuda Bay - so perfect! I even scrounged up some Bermuda Bay Stitched Ribbon!
